Jonathan Budgets Millions Of Naira For Animals

According to Punch,The Presidency  will  next year  spend  N34.5m on two  wild animals for the State House Zoo and car trackers for presidential ground fleet as well as utility vehicles.
Out of the sum, N14.5m  was set aside in the 2014 budget  as the cost of the  two animals whose names were not given and N20m for the trackers.
Extra N2m is expected to be expended on two fleet tracking base stations.

These are contained in the details of the Appropriation bill presented by President Goodluck Jonathan through the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, to the National Assembly last week.
Also contained  in the plan   is the sum of  N50m   for  the improvement of electrical installations inside the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Apart from the amount earmarked for the animals, N8m  is budgeted for the upgrading and maintenance of the  State House  zoo. The renovation of the horses’ stables/paddock for the zoo will gulp N15m.
About N5m   will also be spent on the purchase of wildlife capture  equipment

*Is this why they were rude to Ngozi ?
Animals?awww how sweet and nice of them to think of adopting at this point in time.

    3. @Tony,I guess you are one of the animals Obasanjo bought in his tenure, right ? Hence the reason why u support Jonathan's budget for animals so we could have more animals like you in the country. Abeg don't turn Niger to a country of baboons, you all would be transported to Mozambique in the end anyway.

Bia, Mr President, 14.5 million for unidentified ghost animals, is this another strategy to siphon our country's wealth? and even if not, how can you map out such huge capital for only two animals? secondly, why must it be for the state house zoo, why should a state house have a zoo in the first place?
Mr President, you simply want to make life for yourself and your family fun and as for that of your citizens, you don't give a hoot! don't worry you wont be there for ever.

  13. This country is a huge joke.. Just last night at exactly 12a.m, I was at the balcony cos there wasn't light. I saw a house burning and called 767. The guy assured me fire fighters will be there asap.. After about 30 minutes of waiting and not seeing them, I went to take a shower. I was in the bathroom when I heard my phone ring. I ran out with soap and water on my body. I wiped my ears to receive the call.. Lo and behold, it was a fire fighter calling to ask if the house was still burning. I sighed and hung up.. I didn't want to curse him and decided to hang up. I went back to the balcony and saw that sweet neighbours had successfully put out the fire. What if I lived in a neighbourhood where everyone minds their businesses?

Animals? Really? That's an example of a misplaced priorities.
The citizens are poor and suffering and all I can hear my government say is that they wanna get animals and to upgrade state zoos.
Apart from the money used to purchase these animals, they will still make provisions for foods/feeds......
    Nigeria I hail ooo.

  24. If d cost of d animals is d challenge, I can understand that, cos everything penny counts, aside d cost, der is nothing wrong at all in aquiring animals, certain tins are jst essential in upgrading a home, an office or a state house, is like getting art piece for your living room, not becos u are a billioniare, but cos of perception u want your visitors to hve about u, it goes a long way in bizness transactions.

    1. Not with public's money abeg. More than 50% Nigerians eat once a day due to poverty and u are talking about acquiring animals with public funds? What's with u Nigerians sometimes? Do u think with ur head s at all? People that voted for this clueless and heartless man are hungry and he wants to acquire some stupid baboons that look like him with his wide nose. That money should rather be used for transportation of food stuffs across the country so prices of food stuff can be reduced at the bearest minimum. These moron and his finance minister need to pump more money into Agriculture. What baffles me is how Ngozi Iweala feels inside when she presents budget that has 15 million naira allocated for 2 animals (baboons). Could she not advice her boss that it would be a shame on them? Is Ngozi Iweala mad? She must be stupid *in Alao Akala's voice* and a big disgrace to women in Nigeria.

    2. D truth is, we already hve a biased mind towards ds m, and his administration, I can't even wait 2015 to c him out of Aso Rock, Jona no dey try at all,his presence is not really felt, poverty rate is very high. But honestly, I c no wrong in a Zoo, expecially 4 an African nation, some of d things that makes us black shud be restored, recently I read a write up about d Benin kingdom fighting to get bk their stolen works of art frm d forieng nations, we need to hve stuffs to show our nxt generation. My problem is d cost of jst two animals.

  28. Nigerians can't wait for 2015 to come, for this wide nose black baboon to be swept out of Aso rock. He has really taken us for a ride too many. Am just so proud I didn't vote for his dumb ass. I really blame you all that voted for this clueless man, u all never knew anything about him or his achievements, but voted for him with sentiments. Whatever you all sow, u reap ! In 2015, I guess u all will leave religious, regional and tribal sentiments and vote tested, trusted, honest, hard-working and an achiever as president. You all know the right people, vote them in and experience changes and developments in Nigeria.

  37. Hmm,naija for show! Must we partake in everything obtainable in western world? like seriously are we so friendly with animals or just some misplaced priorities or lack of sense & sensible advisers(sycophants everywhere),gaskia dunno what's up with our country.

The irony of it is we as individuals are our own worst enemies, we can condemn them now but when opportunity comes we take a turn for the worse. Why are Nigerians so money conscious? wanting to oppress & acquire even what they don't need.

Someone was narrating an experience in his place of work, where money was sent to the man in charge of the branch to buy rice for all staff(core staff, cleaner, Securities etc.). lo& behold, the guy tried his best to short change other staff even the lower cadres, hmmm.

Sdkers! Truth be told, a large number of Nigerians have ''poverty mentality'' which makes us look for money anywhere in most disrespectful manner.

God help us all, lets do our part in nation building by not expecting our relatives, friends, acquaintances in politics to have so much to show in terms of material things at the end of their tenure, 'so long a letter'(lol, can go on & on! Love my country abeggi).
