I am typing this email while transmitting back after my holiday in Lagos, Nigeria. I am sharing this with you as I follow your blog and know you are against domestic violence and sexual exploitation of children.
I would like to get justice for the young girls who have been assaulted and raped by the so called man of God "Pastor Praise" I have not mentioned the name of the girl who narrated this story to me only a few hrs before I left Lagos as she has been threatened with death if she ever told anyone.
Girl Z is a young girl child who lives with my sister. She goes to school and also helps with the kids when she gets home. I took a liking to her as she is great with the children and the kids also love her. After a number of unfortunate changes in her family life, Girl Z found herself in a home being run by a church organisation in Abuja for children whose family don't have means to sustain the kids. It was here that a certain Pastor Praise who also has affiliations with the home would come to "take boys and girls to Lagos for what he would call better pastures.
Girl Z told me that she never liked Pastor Praise as she never felt comfortable around him. He would always call her stubborn and she always tried her best to avoid him whenever he showed up at the home to "take" children to Lagos.
One day, Pastor Praise arrived at the home for Girl Z. She was to go to Lagos with him. Girl Z didn't want to go as she didn't feel comfortable around him. They were to stay at his home in Abuja for a few days before going to Lagos. While on the bus to his home, he was asking her all sorts of questions including if she was a Virgin. Girl Z was confused at this point and she said it not his business. Pastor Praise called her all sorts of names and called her problematic.
On getting to his house, he sent his house girl on an errand and in the words of Girl Z, she said "that was when he forced me" when she said this, I asked if he had raped her, her answer was YES. I could see a look on her face which I can't even describe. I just gave her a hug. She was only 12 years old at the time and she would also be raped repeatedly on several occasions following this. In some instances he would force her to sit with him, watch pornographic films and then have forced sex with her. After about a month, he eventually sent her to Lagos to another church member. There were also other incidences of rape and forced sex when he visited and her new guardians were away. He would often threaten her with death telling her he would kill her and nobody would find out about it. It appears from her narration that this pastor is well known in his circles as a man of God and he had access to the homes where he had previously brought children from the home in Abuja.
Girl Z told me she also suspects he raped other girls too as one of the girls who stayed with him after her got inexplicably pregnant after she arrived in Lagos. Another girl also told Girl Z that She never wanted to see Pastor Praise again and if she did, she would KILL him. Yes - this was coming from little girls who had passed through this pastor's hands. To cut the long story short Girl Z was eventually returned to the home in Abuja and eventually started living with my Sister.
She says she has only ever told this story to my mother. I don't know what my mother has done and I'm not waiting to find out.
Girl Z gave me what little information she knew of Pastor Praise of Living Faith Church. He used to live in the Maraba area of Abuja ( Ruga area not far from Maraba bus stop). He lived here around 2011/2012 but he has since moved apparently and she doesn't know where to - I didn't think she would be interested in knowing.
Stella, how can you assist with getting justice for all these girls? This story touched me even more because of the helplessness I sensed from Girl Z when she said "he forced me" her lips were clenched - she didn't even cry, but she had this steely look of violation. It was heartbreaking to witness. Pastor Praise must be named and shamed!
A final word to blog visitors, please show kindness to your house helps. You don't know where these children are coming from. You don't know their inner sufferings when they lay on their mats/beds at night. Try to build an environment where they can open up to you.
There is so much child sexual abuse going on in Nigeria and it's just too bad. Please name and shame Pastor Praise of Living Faith Church. Lets stop him and get justice for Girl Z and the others.

DeleteI concur with Luca. However, with little or no evidence it'll be a bit hard to bring him to book. In that, are the other victims willing to testify against him? Is this little girl willing to also speak in public against him? I believe she was abused, but I have seen cases where after all is said and done, the victims will be oppressed into an unusual silence. Hence, leaving those who want to help them at loss of what to do. Poster, please ensure that u gather enough evidences becos it is not a fresh case, build her confidence level so that she is not bullied to silence., and then let's have at least 2 or 3 other victims that'll corroborate her story, then we are good to go. We cannot bring him to book by merely believing her story, or by the sympathy we have for her. We need to go a bit further than that to teach others like the mad man a lesson. If we can get his foto too, that'll help.

What stops an Abuja residing blog visitor from going to the Church and getting the "pastors" details? Then a rights advocate will be contacted to pursue the case. Am married now but ve zero interest in having sexual relationship with my hubby!! It's so difficult for me to forget all that trauma and it makes me to b extremely protective of my kids. ReplyDeleteMy last maid before I left Nigeria also told me about how her former madam's husband raped her countless times before she finally ran away. He was an Abuja Doctor and madam Banker would leave the kids, the maid and her husband for weeks while work took her around.
I contacted the former madam and after several denials, she finally opened up to me that she knew about the rape. She said she once confronted her husband about it and he panel beated her, Dino way. The maid had also told me he often beat madam up.
I am seriously disgusted about how the issue of rape of minors has become almost acceptable. It is even more barbaric that some wives/mothers even about these animalistic acts and shield their crazy husbands.
I hope Fake Pastor Praise is brought out to account for his crimes. If he's married, his wife has some explanations to do. There has to be somebody who knows him or the mentioned church. How can it be so easy to set up an illegal home and then send out innocent kids anywhere without a structure for government monitoring? This is just sad.
Come on nigerians, let's. Unmask dis evil man. A lot of dis so called pastors use d name to pepetrate all kinds of evil and dats bc our pple are so naïve, backward and gullible. I also know that he schooled in Uniport. I also know that (if he is the one) he was a room mate and friend to a "Gentleman Doctor" (Now); Dr. Ugochukwu Onyeonoro who currently works at Dept. of Community Medicine, Federal Medical Center Umuahia. I am fully persuaded that Dr. Ugochukwu (a beloved dutiful Christian; one of the finest gentle man I've ever met) will know wherever "Pastor" Praise is on this planet. Google Ugochukwu Onyeonoro and you will see his facebook profile; the first one. Maybe you can start from there . . .

DeleteSad story ....whether we like it or not God has ordained the office of pastors to oversee the body of Christ but how u let them manipulate u is another matter....yes you can reach God but he has blessed some with anointing and wisdom to help the body of Christ......do not worship anyone and even whatever they teach you confirm from the word...any pastor who expects that you will never question him or accept all they say totally should be watched...apart from children who know nothing adults who fall prey are lazy, looking for instant miracles etc....sometimes you need to wait for answers to prayers with patience...yes sometimes he answers speedily but not all the time......that said we should all be very careful....I will call some people I know in living faith Abuja and I hope one more so called "pastor" who is giving others a bad name will be brought to book......lastly no pastor or even any believer is perfect so people should not fool themselves that you will see anyone without sin, however for some whose atrocities and habitual sins stand out like pastor praise where never even ordained at all or they started out well and lost it totally along the way......women please always talk to your daughters or wards.....ask them questions and be very observant.....God help us all

DeleteI am not amazed at all because we were fore warned about the latter days, that false pastors will be unveiled. What we should make a habit is to scrutinise the fundamental activities of any pastor we choose to worship under. While it is not left to any pastor to bless us but for God Himself who showeth mercy, however some pastors can be a hindrance and a discouragement to a lot of people. Look at how many atrocities have been committed by so called pastors in the last 12months. From pastor Biodun of coza, to Pastor Ajanaku the living dead, to pastor fireman, which is the most recent...etc.
All these are enough to discourage people who are trying to find their grounds in the Christiandom. And we as Christians and soldiers and body of Christ must not relent in our efforts to rise up against the Devil and his agents of darkness. Children are a heritage if God, the apple of God's eye, hence they should not be abused in anyway by a man whom they trust as God sent...supposedly. it is time that we all act and not only comment and brush the issue aside because they are not our kids. It is our collective responsibility as parents and as well meaning Nigerians. This pastor in question must be apprehended.
Winners Chapel is the "nickname" for Living Faith Church. My mum attends Winners in Abuja. I'll call her to see if she knows of any Pastor Praise. Thanks for raising awareness of this. Wolves are hiding in sheep's clothing among us.
