My wife and kids are safely in the US I am part of the test team in the US We volunteered to be deliberately infected with Ebola and then treated. I pray it works I am currently in Maryland where the test will take place. Lets hope this works.''

    4. Wow I didn't know God is now a BV

I read the US is in discussion with ministry of health to do the trials here too.

And I hear they pay a lot of money for such trials.

You volunteer and they pay very well.
They need healthy people to study the side effects. Educate yourself instead of being cynical

    Sassylicious

    ReplyDelete
  51. I don't seem to get this. Many have died of Ebola, many are already down with the virus both in Nigeria, Liberia et al. Why can't they test the effectiveness of the drugs on them. Why inject a healthy person with the virus and then use him to test the drug. Really something does not add up here.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Before a drug is approved, u need to know the LD50 and clinical trials will solve that. I won't be surprised if the zmapp made available to Liberia et al was because they would are most likely the "lab rats" in this case. They didn't make it available to Nigeria because they can't afford to have casualties, should in case the drug is not effective and hence straining ties. (my personal opinion though)

To deliberately volunteer to be infected is very brave of you, Dr okechukwu, I assume the money is worth your life. Anyway, it is a honorable thing to die for a valuable cause. I will pray that you are part of the control group though

  92. Which kain dokita be dis one again, for which country dem dey use humans as guinea pigs again? Certainly not in the United States, that's a country that won't even allow a wider scope of research into stems cell because of its moral and ethical implications not withstanding the expected huge benefits ito humans. Injecting a healthy human with a deadly virus would be tantamount to murder iif death results from such experiment, consent of the victim won't suffice as justification for those involved

Koye Olu Ibukun is the head of ECOWAS liaison office in Lagos, and is the diplomat who is making this Ebola brouhaha rear it's head again and in much bigger way.You are so ashamed of yourself that you have even deleted your Facebook page because you know people will want to check out who the monster you are. This is what government should have done a long time ago if you were truly under surveillance or quarantine and you dissappear.Publish names of wanted citizens in connection to Ebola who dissappear, for the safety of all.All staffs and families of that ECOWAS liaison Lagos office should be quarantined since it's now 2 cases, one dead already, from the too big Ogas @ the top to the gate-man.

  117. WTF?! This sounds shady as hell. Stella i am a medical doctor in the US, and the US does not use human beings to test lethal vaccines or drugs! They do animal testing instead. Are u kidding me? It is against the law on every level and against all what medicine stands for. How can they inject a virus into a human in hopes that the drugs will cure it when the said drug has not been proven AND published?! Lies! Dr Okechukwu, tell us the name of the health institute carrying out this dangerous, unlawful experiment....i wanna look into it (highly doubt it). I am currently doing residency in NY, and MaryLanD is only about 3 hrs away from me.

Stella my dear, try and investigate things better before publishing and raising false alarm. You should've asked him for the phone number and name of the institute carrying it out, then called them to confirm. There is nothing secretive about research in the US. Every research being conducted in the US is in the NIH database. There are few Ebola research going on (you can find on www.nih.gov) in the US, and none of the vaccines/drugs have infectious ebola particles, talkless of those infectious particles being injected into human beings! Read up for urself and u can even call them....they are obligated to divulge details to the public.

No ebola or any other infectious particle is EVER tested on human beings in the United States!

    Dr. N

    1. Ur ignorance shows you are not who you claim you are. Clinical trials are done on humans.

This trial is going on at National Institute of Health Bethesda Maryland.

    2. @Dr N, the nih website shows theres one in proccess so it seems legit. From what i read i dont think they r injecting live viruses into the human subjects....most likely killed inactive form.

    3. 'My people perish 4 lack of knowledge'.... Dr.N, God bless u. Now,if indeed GSK needs pple 4 clinical trials (ts unethical) but only healthy Volunteers can be used so dt explains reason d infected pple can't be used. Moreover,u need a min of 20-50 healthy pple as volunteers due to variation in people's pharmacogenetics, so Dr Ok is not alone on ds and if anytn otherwise happens (which I doubt Cos d LD50 i.e d Conc of dose dt can cause lethality or death in half of d population would've bn calculated),his Fam and d fam of others involved will be handsomely 'Consoled'. Anywys, all d Best 2 him and others,(if ds is true).

    6. Dr. N, I don't believe you are a doctor in the US or that you are a doctor at all. Me wey b novice self hear news wey say UK and some volunteer organisation don drop 20m pounds to produce 10 thousand doses of the vaccine even as the trial on unaffected persons is ongoing so that as soon as the vaccine is certified OK, they will b moved to the affected places. They are therefore asking for volunteers in the UK and the US. Thank me later. Dr. In deed.

  122. Oh please, I read the link pasted by Dr. AgwoturuMbe and the article said the drug will be tested on healthy adults who does NOT have ebola to know the side effects of the drug, if this the same thing this Dr is talking about, then he wasn't infected with ebola

    -------------------------------

Please read and re-read the fifth paragraph Stella, so they are going to be conducting human experiment on healthy individuals in Nigeria ?????????

Could it be true that the virus was purposely brought to Nigeria by the Liberian man?

Stella, this isn't right, the worst part is, knowing our Country, people may not know they being used as guinea pigs.

    Stella please sound the alarm.

  130. If and I repeat, if Dr. Okechukwu exists, do not cry for him. He is sacrificing his life for the money he is going to be paid as a "Guinea pig". This is not a heroic act. It is an act anchored on our peoples extreme love for money.

What people can do for money eeeh?

  131. It's actually true , it's a trial vaccine being tested on healthy volunteers which they start next week . It's being don't by the uk pharmaceutical company . It was on sky news buy from what I heard dey will not be infecting them with Ebola.

GlaxoSmithKline's experimental Ebola vaccine could be tested on humans in the UK, US, the Gambia and Mali in the next few weeks, in a race to contain the deadly virus that has claimed more than 1,500 lives in west
    Advertisement

Human trials of GSK's experimental vaccine – which Britain's largest pharmaceuticals company is developing with the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) – are to be fast-tracked, with funding from an international consortium. Vaccines normally take 10 years to develop, but GSK said it hopes to finish the first phase of trials by the end of 2014. It will start making up to 10,000 doses of the vaccine at the same time as the initial clinical trials, so that – if they prove successful – stocks could be made available immediately to the WHO to vaccinate people in high-risk

If regulatory approvals are granted, the UK research teams could start vaccinating healthy volunteers from mid-September. In the US, the NIH could start phase 1 trials – the first test on humans to assess safety and efficacy – at its clinical centre in Bethesda, Maryland, as soon as next week after receiving the green light from the US health regulator, the Food and Drug Administration. The vaccine has already shown promising results in primates exposed to Ebola, without significant adverse effects.

A £2.8m grant from the Wellcome Trust, the Medical Research Council and the Department for International Development will fund safety tests by a team led by Prof Adrian Hill, director of the Jenner Institute at the University of Oxford. If successful, the trial will be extended to volunteers at the MRC unit in the Gambia, and to Bamako, Mali.

The US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention has begun discussions with ministry of health officials in Nigeria about conducting a phase 1 safety study of the vaccine among healthy adults.

The Oxford study will involve 60 healthy volunteers, while those in the Gambia and Mali will each involve 40. Each set of volunteers will be split into groups of 20 who will receive different doses of the vaccine, which is based on a type of chimpanzee cold virus and does not contain infectious Ebola virus material. Two Ebola genes have been inserted into the vaccine, and express a single Ebola virus protein to generate an immune response.
