The dissolution of the marriage between Christ Embassy Church founder, Pastor Christian Oyakhilome, and his wife, Rev. Anita Odegwa Oyakhilome, has entered the final phase, TheCable can report. The wife is seeking divorce on the grounds of “unreasonable behaviour” and “adultery”.
She outlined several allegations against the pastor which TheCable cannot publish for legal reasons. The divorce case, with Suit No FD14D01650, was filed
on April 9, 2014 at Divorce Section A, Central Family Court, First Avenue House, High Holborn, London, UK, on Anita’s behalf by Attwaters Jameson Hill Solicitors, a full-service law firm with expertise in commercial law and a strong consumer focus in family, wills and estate, personal injury law and medical negligence.
Efforts to reconcile the popular couple, whose church is one of the biggest denominations in Nigeria and has branches all over world, have failed. They have two teenage daughters, Sharon and Charlyn. Oyakhilome is the president of Believers’ Love World Inc, the registered name of the Christian ministry, while his wife is the vice-president.
The pastor, according to an elder of the church, has denied allegations of adultery and believes his wife is being influenced by “bad friends” who are intent on destroying their home. While Anita believes she has been relegated in the scheme of things in the church, her husband has reportedly accused her of trying to usurp power and authority above her seniors in the ministry. Sources told TheCable that the pastor had been making efforts to avoid divorce in the hope that the wife would eventually have a change of mind.
However, TheCable can also report that the decree nissi was served on the charismatic pastor in his hotel room during a recent visit to the UK. Decree nissi, in legal terms, is like a yellow card in a football match which is a precursor to a red card (“decree absolute”) if no new evidence is provided to stall proceedings. Church insiders said Oyakhilome had been hoping for rapprochement, but he was left with no option than to receive the papers when the lawyers cornered him at his hotel in London.
The decree absolute, which will effectively end the marriage, is expected to be issued soon while terms of the divorce will be worked out by the lawyers on both sides.

DeleteWell this is very true. I can confirm it absolutely. A colleague friend of mine works with the chambers temporarily. However, I have no condemnation towards this pastor because like many have stated, he is man after all.
DeleteBut his issues started when he started to align with a certain controversial pastor. In fact two controversial pastors that he started to roll with deemed his 'light' and that was when trouble started with his ministry and marriage.
Denial is the number one enemy of man. Be u a man of God or the Devil. Like Stella says, choose your struggle. Initiating yourself into a Fraternity isn't the best idea when u want to be revered as a man of God. Eloquence, poise, and finesse seems to have taken over the average Nigerians mentality and judgement of whom to revere as a true man of God. Holy spirit has taken the back seat while flesh reigns supreme. A lot are confused and are just observing Sunday social gatherings in the name of going to church, as opposed to serving God in truth and in spirit.
The building called church is now a place where many elites, especially, network for business for the coming week....as all the bank managers and Oil merchants, CEOs are gathered in certain churches, and many who have no privilege of reaching them on regular days rush to their places of worship just to be introduced to them. I know what I am saying because I see this happen. I was even approached once by a friend of mine who said that I should please introduce a certain man to her because she knew I had a cordial relationship with him...and because he attended the same church with me. She even started to come to our church for the sake of this man. This is why I talk like this. It is absurd.
Pastor Chris's marriage wouldn't be the first in the Christiandom to hit the rocks, neither would it be the last. Matter of fact another one is due to hit the media soon. In fact that one is MEGA and would shock a lot of people. Many of these people just keep up with appearances. Many wives of pastors have lost love touch with their hubbies at home and are merely observing their appearances to uphold the revered spot as the "preachers wife" for the benefits therein. He told me bfor that he has a girl to marry but stella I thot he was joking. Evn wen we broke up a while ago, I still thot he would come back and beg. Wen we were dating I cheated on him bcos I suspected he was cheating. Nd am sure he was cheating. But that aside, he is actually married nd am heart broken. Ave been crying since last wk stella. To top it all, he had a very big wedding (trad one day, white another day) And the girl's father gifted them a brand new car. How do I get my man back? All my friends have laughed at me. Evn the prophet I went to that told me that the man will come back and beg me is nt picking my calls now. I wish I could turn back the clock bcos dis guy was just so gud 2 me. He has is faults bt stella he is a gud man. And now, is like ave lost him forever. He evn married outside his tribe. Stella, am heartbroken. Cheating was d handwork of d devil. My mum is Irish and has been married to my dad for 52years and counting. There's this association of foreign wives married to Nigerian men which my mum belongs to and I can't remember any case of a "runaway bride". The few who returned back to their countries were widows.
