Hmmmmm....

IS BODY ODOUR HEREDITARY?

Hello Stella and BV's
I am at the end of it wondering what could be wrong with me.I have voluntarily become a recluse because of how i smell.
Note that i do not have armpit hairs and i have made it a point of duty to shave down there but i smell.I have this ogufe smell surrounding me and if i step out into the hot sun,it begins to ooze like perfume.
I lost my boyfriend to this smell and when i meet people, after the smell hits them i see the look on their faces.I have lost friends to this smell and i do not know if i should assume that this is how i will be forever.

Please i need to know if this is hereditary or if there is actually something i can do about it...The smell comes from my armpit and down there.

Its like my natural smell.
HELP!

Ogufe smell?...I will never eat goat meat with that smell again!

    3. Y re u asking if it's hereditary? Does any member of ur family also smell that way?

Please Uve to start treatment from the inside then more personal hygiene with natural remedies. Ie. Orange peels, lemon, garlic n many others. A bit busy now will come back 2 comment and share the little remedies I know. "Tried, tested n trusted". Although it takes a while, lots of patience n consistency.

  32. Hereditary? Is it that it runs in your family? You might have to go the hospital and get some medical advice. I once had a friend that used to have body odour way back in secondary school. I kept wondering if she was still parading the odour until recently when I saw her and noticed there was no offensive smell emanating from here. It's possible she sought help.

  38. I think some body odours are spiritual abeg. .what kind of smell is that one? Please go for deliverance o.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I am not a doctor but there are a lot of things that can cause strong body odours.
    1. Food - garlic, onions, alcohol, curry
    2. Drinking low quantity of water
    3. Poor bathing techniques
    4. Inadequate washing of clothes
    5. Reuse of underwear.
    6. Misuse of deodorants

Some foods increase d strength of body odours as mentioned above. Drinking about 2litres of water everyday if you achieve this you armpit stains will not be brown and your urine will be clear.
Bathing must be 3 time and not with toilet or beauty soaps but with medicated soap I recommend dettol original or crusader. Always latter your body well and use sponge on the arm pit well well remember to shave pubic and armpit hair. Also use hot water to bath morning and evening but cold at night.
Clothes must be washed as soon as they smell. Your clothes now should be wear and wash till the odours clears. Focus on the armpits, if white bleach them. Avoid reuseing the same underwear for more than a day.

Avoid cheap deodorants and never use deodorants without bathing or on sweaty body. I suggests Sure/guillet deodorants use them mildly on your body not your clothes. Perfumes should not be sprayed on used clothes.

  44. I have never really seen body odour to be hereditary. U need to work on your personal hygiene. Apart from shaving and all, u need to bathe like six times a day, use a good soap, get a proper deodorant and change ur underwear like 3 times a day. U have to be extreme with the hygiene because the odour has become like your body perfume. Avoid boyfriend or abstain from see till u properly work on yourself. I can totally relate with your friends because I had a friend with body odour that immediately she enters my room, my roommates will just leave. I felt bad I never got the courage to tell her, but you can definitely work on yourself. Goodluck

You didn't tell us if you use anti-perspirants, body spray and pefumes? and it the odour still comes out after that.
Well from what I can deduce i would say hperhidrosis is part of the cause since you said it starts after spending time in the sun

  58. Sorry poster i see you are really bothered about this. My little advice is one make sure you was your cloths regularly, your undies please don't store them before washing try and wash them daily, when bathing take time to scrub ur punani well with your sponge. Same for your under arm. Use lime trice a week to wash your armpit. your deodorants and perfumes are not left out. If after all these you still smell bad try swallowing small portions of garlic twice a day. it would help to purify your system and in turn leave you with its aroma (lol) instead of the bad one garlic smell is better.

  65. Dear poster, maybe u have body odour cos your personal hygiene is poor. Let me give u a few tips to improve on your personal hygiene:
    1. Make sure u shower at least 2 times a day(morning and night) and also whenever u go out and return all sweaty and hot.
    2. When bathing, pls use dettol, soap and sponge to scrub your body, pay attention to your armpits and vagina.
    3. After bathing, dry your body with a clean towel and apply deodorant under your armpits. I recommend deodorants like sure, rexona, nivea etc
    4. Apply funbact-A/canestin to your vagina and the surrounding area.
    5. Wear a clean pant and bra. Don't repeat ur underwears without washing them.
    6. Same goes to your clothes, keep them clean and dry. Don't wear a clothe and take them off, then put them straight in a box or wardrobe.
    7. Change your bedsheet weekly.
    8. When doing ur laundry, use a perfume soap like joy soap or lux.
    9. Eat more of fruits and food that have a nice aroma, stay away from groundnut, bitterleaf soup that contains ogiri, fufu, ice fish. In my opinion, I think people who eat too much of fufu and ofe onugbo tend to smell like the food. (I eat onugbo soup but like once a month)
    10. see a doctor, it could be that u have an infection. For instance, I noticed that I started having breakouts on my face, I saw a doctor friend of mine and he put me on injection and gave me a drug to take. I'm still on the medication, which I started last friday.
    11. I don't think body odour is heriditary, except u come from a family of people with poor personal hygiene and u also have a poor personal hygiene
    12. Body odour could be spiritual, maybe someone jazzed u with body odour so u don't get married #just saying.
    13. Finally take ur body odour to God in prayers.
