Buhari Says They Have Identified Banks With Stolen Oil Money.

According to Vanguard,President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, in Abuja said that his administration has identified banks, financial institutions and countries in which payments for stolen Nigerian crude oil have been deposited.

Speaking at an audience with visiting United States Congressmen, President Buhari acknowledged the support and cooperation his administration was getting from the international community in gathering required intelligence for tracing and recovering stolen national resources.

The President, according to a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, told the Congressmen led by Rep. Darrel Issa: “We are getting cooperation from the international community, including information on ships that take crude oil from Nigeria and change direction, or pour their contents into other ships mid-stream. Some monies were paid to individual accounts. We are identifying the financial institutions and countries that are involved. I have been assured that when we get all our documents together, the United States and other countries will treat our case with sympathy.”

President Buhari told the Congressmen that his Administration will welcome more regular meetings of the Nigeria-United States Bi-National Commission. He noted that the Commission could serve as a more useful platform for the promotion of bilateral trade and economic relations as well as joint cooperation in the war against terrorism.

  2. But let's think about this, why would they give us such informations?? That's classified.. If they have traced the banks, that's good. Let them quietly collect our money back and finally tell is how much was recovered....

    1. It is those who stole money that'll have palpitation na. And if they collect the money quietly and some people find out, it'll be another counter accusations, that APC wants to pocket the returned funds. Really tiring

  3. Mr President..... feel free to deal with all the stealers of our commonwealth..... but pls do it constitutionally.... those looted funds are needed for qualitative and quantitative projects...... so pls use the security apparatus, financial means, you can use cranes to turn these thieves upside down, we can't trust their kleptomaniac tendencies, underground their houses, the hollandies trunks of their wives, their children's accounts and even their religious leaders, all might have been used to launder money..........so go get them and while out roll out concrete visions and plans and walk the talk...... Too much suffering in the land.

  8. Nigerians you asked for it. Now you have it. That is the consequence of electing an uneducated man a president. See as he is embarrassing the country. Is this how other countries fight corruption?
What happened to the priceless element of surprise. Why not keep your information secret until it is needed? Why not pretend you don't know that they steal until you are ready to bring them to book? Why give them time to move or cover up their loots?
Is this how corrupt is fought in the developed world?

  12. Stella, That's d intention of The news. To cause palpitation and diarrhoea!! The guilty are afraid. It's threats like This that make the guilty ones come out of hiding and mistakes will always trail fearful hearts. e.g. Turai Yar-Adua is already on the loose.....

  13. So what if they don't name them, at least they have identified them. Wetin GEJ do to identify them not to talk of name them. Please stop talking nonsense, if you are tired of hearing it, cover your damn ears. There are other news you can pay your attention to. They keep talking as if they are forced them to listen to or read certain news, enemies of progress.

  15. I quote from the article- "We are identifying the financial institutions and countries that are involved. I have been assured that when we get all our documents together, the United States and other countries will treat our case with sympathy.”

They are still doing their investigation and they don't have all their documents together, they probably don't want to mention names until they have concluded their investigations so that they don't make mistakes.

Stella does not want to get sued in case she gets things wrong and without having concrete proof but she wants government to mention names when they are "still investigating" what is good for the goose is good for the gander.

  17. Stella, they can't just mention names when they have not finished doing their investigations. He said something about identifying the banks and countries involved. Let's just wait for them to conclude their investigation and see what they will say. Whichever way, I know if they eventually release the names of the pple involved, a lot of pple are going to be shocked.
