President Robert Mugabe Rejects Homosexual Rights In UN Speech

Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe has rejected calls from the UN to implement gay rights in his country. Speaking on 28th September at the United Nations General Assembly meeting, he said that upholding human rights is the obligation of all member states, but vehemently rejected the imposition of what he called "new rights" for gay marriage that have been advocated elsewhere in the world.

"We equally reject attempts to prescribe new rights that are contrary to our norms, values, traditions and beliefs. We are not gays. Cooperation and respect for each other will advance the cause of human rights worldwide. Confrontation, vilification and double standards will not," he told members of the General Assembly. Mugabe has previously called homosexuals "worse than pigs and dogs." A spokesman for his ruling party, Zanu-PF, has said same-sex marriage had no place in Africa.

Currently chairman of the African Union, Mugabe urged nations to invest in economic development on the African continent, saying a stronger Africa would be beneficial to the world.
"Africa is not looking for handouts. Rather it is looking for partners in massive infrastructure development. In creating and exploiting the value chains from the God given natural resources and in improving the quality of life of the continents citizens. The entire world stands to benefit from an economically empowered African continent than from one emasculated by deprivation and with an over dependence on others," Mugabe said.

  18. Mugabe's stance on gay right is spot on. The west should respect our cultural values instead of trying to force us to accept it by threatening to impose economic sanctions and subtly deploying monarch programming.
Some days ago I read an article written by a paedophile asking that we see things from their point of view. You guys can imagine the effrontery, a bloody paedophile. I bet those mentally deranged persons practising bestiality would soon come out asking for that their right to love and engage in sexual relationships with animals be enforced. #Damn!theworldisending

    1. And it's our culture to cheat openly, wielding. A shameless family dynasty, injustice - how long has he been forcibly holding on to power by the way! A culture of maligning one of the most stable and peaceful sexual demographic (other than their over the top display and theatrics - which women seem to love) .
These people are the entertainers, the fun people. The fashion icons, etc.
And here are everyone casting stones, like a mob.
I wish we all could see the home sexual among us.
That young man, single for years, yet the breadwinner of the family he's from, even the married ones.
That young lady that paid her younger ones' way through college / uni.
      Your precious kid brother.
      Your only sister.
He who lives in a glass house shouldn't throw stones.
      Hypocrisy has got to stop.

    1. Get out which catholic faith? When even the pope cannot come out to categorically say gay marriage is wrong......pope is a disgrace to the church of Christ....Catholics be feeling like the solid church of Christ when they don't even follow most bibilical principles...Mugabe should go and do more relevant things for his country, this is not the only achievement he should have...resign and get your old tired arse outa the way.....curse me and die....#tongueout#

  39. Africans and Nigerians r rejoicing bcos he refused to legalise homosexuality and yet u all are wallowing in poverty and sub standard living. All dis homosexuality talk shldnt b what gvs us joy. I am homophobic. I won't lie. But when I look @ African leaders take a stand against homosexuality but practice corruption it irks me out. U ppl shld b telling him to shut up and go and develop his country. Wen he has finished with his house he can tell dem to go and piss on legalisation of homosexuality in his country as it aint gonna happen. We r so corrupt in africa and in particualr Nigeria dt d foreign ppl who want to develop d country can no longer allow d citizens of d country to handle d project. But wld import all d materials dem selves, build d structure demselves and in some cases manage it demselves. No Nigerian can run such infrastructures cos na d white ppl alone dey handle am and dey refuse to also gv us bcos we can't b trust worthy. Africa and in particular Nigeria's main problem is corruption.these politicians just use dis gay tin to whip up sentiments and we forget dt we hav much larger problems dan d legalistaion of gay ppl.

  40. Even the Pope and Catholic bishops in Nigeria has said stop condemning homosexuals they do not deserve it. The white man who brought Christianity to Nigeria and Africa does not condemn it so why are Nigerians who follow the white man's religion condemning it.

The Pope and Catholic church does not condemn it so why do Nigerian Catholics condemn it.

Nigerians continuously look foolish in the eyes of the world constantly- keep on crying more than the bereaved.

You can't teach the white man and Catholics their own religion which they introduced to Nigeria. If you think you can do that, then you are not practicing their religion so look for another name for your God and the religion you practice because it is not Christianity or Catholicism.
