Biafran Protesters Set Bon Fire In Port Harcourt

BLOG VISITOR REPORT

''I am a regular visitor to your blog but a very very silent one oh.. I read all the time and tell anyone who cares to listen to visit your blog. Anyway I was on my way home yesterday in PH when I came across a very great mob: the so called Biafra agitators..

This was by market junction rumuomasi.. I couldn't really take a picture of the mob cos my daughter was visibly trembling so I just tried to get going but as we continued towards shell RA ie residential area I met several bonfires these guys had set up...

It was quiet scary especially when we got to our turn at rumuibekwe where the fire was set up right across the road on both sides so we literally had to drive over smoking tyres... Find attached the pictures I could take...

Na wah!

    1. You "love this"?? Do you realise people died and some were seriously injured as well? This so called biafra movt is bringing about a growing anti-igbo sentiment from the rest of the country. Be "loving" until you people stir the rest of the country against you.

  6. Two died yesterday at Eleme Junction & one is critically injured! See wetin gragra and tactlessness brought agitators for Biafra. Even the state you want to take style annex has told you to sod off.

If you really want a Biafra country, why don't you put your money where your mouth is. Use legal means to fight for secession and at the same time, go and develop these states and stop blaming Hausas and Yorubas as if you your states are deprived of government allocations (which your leaders and elites share the amongst themselves).

Blame your leaders for under-developing the east. When people see the likeness of the utopian nation called Biafra you want to create, the rest of your people will quickly leave Nigeria to come and join you. But your current strategy is what oyinbo calls 'eating your cake and wanting to have it'. You cannot be using Nigerian passports, be enjoying Nigeria government allocations, hold top positions in government agencies and claim to be Biafrans. That's double standards.

  10. Why not rent a big stadium that can accommodate millions of pro-Biafans, hold family friendly rallies, fanfares, do barbecues, play traditional music etc. and encourage leaders to come and make positive speeches on the need for secession. Not try to re-enact why Nigeria went into a needless bloody war on the streets.

They have to have a permit for the demonstrations . I know that we do have to apply for it here. And If its not granted, it is illegal and unlawful and they can be arrested. Disturbing the law abiding citizens doing their daily business is against the law. Let's be guided pls!!!

  17. Are they still on this biafra issue?
Anyways, I'm all for peaceful protest..the police need not shoot at them or release tear gas, except they turn it into a riot.
There is a huge difference btw a riot and a peaceful protest.

Elena the majesty you asked that the police shoot on sight people who are protesting? I was suprised reading such comments from a supposed doctor.you ought to be saving lives, not asking that life be snuffed out from someone.Haba!!
Its your type of doctor that would not treat a dying victim of a stray bullet, except you see all the neccessary papers.
Have this in mind, if you throw stones at the market place, you might hit one of your own.

And while I hate biafra with everything in me, the people have got the right to protest and ask for what they feel is rightfully theirs. As long as they don't go bonkers destroying properties or harassing people, then please, let them be!

    1. But they're going bonkers already na...doing what u said they ought not to do. So what next ma'am?

    2. But see the bonfire na. Once any form of firm is lit, it has become violent; they have become a threat to the people and should be dealt with accordingly.

    1. To answer ur question, only few igbos with houses in lagos that don't have a house in their own town. Most igbo men will make sure they build their house in their lands first before building in lagos or any other foreign town.

  31. How I hate violence and touts agitating for biafra. But then Buhari should call them to order before it gets out of hand. Dialogue with the foolish instigator Nnamdi Kanu and co and find lasting solution to this biafra nonsense. If Ojukwu could not make possible, I don't think it can ever be possible unless it is the will of God and this is a very wrong approach to achieve it. They should use this energy in fighting our state governors who squander government allocations especially Abia state where this nonsense started from, then senators and house of Representatives members for our constituency project funds down to house of assembly members to local government chairmen and councillors. I read history and saw what my people passed through during the civil war and I still shade tears.

I hate it when shallow minded idiots say the touts have prominent igbos sponsoring them. Have you ask yourselves what will happen to their properties and businesses scattered all over Nigeria?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Please what business does the agitation for Biafra have with Rivers State? Have you ever seen a situation where people say they want to leave a country and they insist someone else must come with them? They insist the person is one of them. They are and have been trying to suppress the South South minority with this their Biafra nonsense. If they want to leave, all they have to do is pack their bags and go back to their state. Even as a part of Nigeria, as someone suggested, if they get their Governors to turn their states into a utopia, then maybe others will want to join them.
All this pressure they are putting to leave the country, can you imagine if they were putting it on their governors to perform? They would have development and prosperity in their states. However they prefer to fight with an outside enemy. They want to leave Nigeria b/c they feel they should be getting more of the national cake from oil. They assume if they leave with all the south south minorities, they can bully the non ibo minorities and control all the resources. As I hear it, during the civil war, some of the more enthusiastic ones carried out a bit of ethnic cleansing of their own with the minorities and made it clear to the minorities that they were to be led by the Ibos.

    1. Rivers was a biafran territory back then

      Delete
  33. Can't they just stay within their boundaries? What are they doing in someone else's state? They have started again, Ibo people with their longer throat and insisting Rivers State belongs to them. You insist Rivers, Bayelsa.... people are all Ibo and only pretending not to speak the language. So what is your plan? Leave Nigeria with these people in tow and force them to start speaking Ibo? Be master to them? Marry their women and kill their men? What exactly do you plan to do with them when they have made it clear they want to no part of you?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Offer them the chance to leave without any of the Niger delta oil producing states and check out how quickly they will change their minds. Even if they agree to go it will only be b/c they are planning to wage war and force the Niger Delta to join them. Idiots lead by greed. Instead of blaming their politicians for the poverty/failures in their states they are still blaming the federal government 45 years after the civil war. Ojukwu ran away to save his skin and you still worship him, how can people be so dim? He made noise about how he was ready to die for Biafra but when push came to shove, he hopped on a plane with his family and said it was to keep the dream alive b/c without him the dream was dead. He conviniently forgot about the dream when he was collecting his fathers abandoned properties. He forgot about all the people that lost their lives and properties for Biafra.

    ReplyDelete
  35. It is clearly their youth that are agitating for Biafra. Someone should play them clips of Biafra and show they what the war did to people. They need to read the novel Half of a yellow sun because it is an accurate portrayal of what life was like during a civil war. Nobody would have gone ahead if they knew where it would lead. Just like it happened before it will happen again. The leaders sit nice and safe in the houses, well fed and robust, while the poor troop out and loose the little they have at the instigation of their leaders. So what would happen to all the successful Ibo's that own property around parts of Nigeria? Would they willingly sell to relocate to Biafra? You think your fellow Ibo man will go against his good fortune for a common cause? The demand for Biafra before was based on a life and death situation where Ibo's were being persected, however this demand for Biafra is being spearheaded by a young man who left Nigeria for the UK and having been disillusioned and finding it difficult to make his way there is now dreaming of returning in glory to a country of his own. Probably with plans to be the leader of this country as they usually do.

    ReplyDelete
  36. It is not only Rivers and Bayelsa they are claiming. They are also claiming Delta state and Benue state. They should keep dreaming.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm Igbo but sorry to say, these protesters a are fools. Why divide a peaceful country and start unecessary chaos for nothing? People need to learn to use their time for something better
