Before now she has brought different men home and her father refused to give his blessing hence her sticking to
      This young struggling doctor.

    5. Hmmmmm

      Good she brought it out!

For those pouring out sentiments, would it had been better she kept quiet and let her father secretly kill someone's son cos he fell inlove with her???

Whatever happens, she fought a good fight and that's all that matters!

Nothing hurts more like a repressed/denied love cos u tryna please people...

They don't want this sham of a marriage and you know why. Why rent a crowd, for what? You are cursed child. Your parents are capable. I trust them. Where are Ezeagu people on this blog ? 3. Jesus! Ugo isn't married, Ugo lived with his parents in Aguda suru lere before he married Nono. I'm sure you're a member of her family trying to tarnish his image. You guys should free the young man. Just cos he's poor and from a struggling family. I wonder why Ugo didn't leave the girl alone sef since the family don't want him

If it was a Governors son the girl got engaged to they wont have a problem.
Nways let me not judge till Stella gets full story. They are some guys out dere ready to trap any rich girl, just to better themselves. I know plenty of dem on dis Island. No job, claiming im into properties, im into oil and gas and still yet they don't have office or place of work. They will dress up at 7pm claiming dey are going to have meeting, in a bar.
Im not saying this is d guys case o, im just bringing to light the new norm now.

Do you know what it takes to train a medical doctor only for her to bring another project for the parents to embark on in the name of marriage? I know if the guy is genuine he would have insisted on getting her parents approval without resolving to this desperate act. Deal with his ass abeg, thief like him, may other people kidnaps his sisters like this.

I really wonder how you think this will help. 99.9% of the people reading this really don't care and will only use you as gist. Have you thought of the ripple effects years from now? You love him, you love him, hmmm..your parents that trained you to where you are now, do you think they don't want what's best for you? Granted i may not agree with the arrest, but it's so wrong for you to dishonor your parents this way going around town saying horrible things even to the extent of accusing them of wanting to kill ugo.
Again, I hope he loves you like crazy and is worth all this because when you start to shed tears of regret all the people cheering you on now will be nowhere to be found. Remember okunrin o l'ayole o.

Na, there must be other ways to do this.No matter how much he loves you, your family matters too.

  28. There are two issues that may be involved in this case:
    1. The man may belong to the people of God they call 'outcastes'
    2. He may be either poor, manipulative, or has a 'questionable profession'

  29. I know a friend who knows her well. Well heard her dad is a control freak and takes things to the extreme. He doesn't want them associating with people and all. Strong catholic man with plenty plenty dos n don't. She fell in love with her husband Daniel but her dad wanted her to get married to a guy named Stanley. But she refused so she went ahead and did a court wedding and took some people there as witnesses, standing in for her parents. That was how the man got angry and arrested her husband assuring her by force husband to be (Stanley ) that she will def be married to him. Parent should pls stop forcing their children. It's not right.

  34. All I know is sometimes what ur parents see, you might not see bcos you are in love.
My parents never liked d guy I was dating for whatever reason, if I just mention his name my mum wld act funny n change subject. To the extent I started thinking is my doing me? Dos she have convenant smwere dat I shldnt marry, at 30 for dat matter. She went as far as telling me ppl from dat state marry more then one wife and they are promiscuous both d men and women. I didn't care I forged on with d relationship.
This is a guy dat was so rich, but his dad has various wives, mistresses, kids outside etc.
I still continued, till I heard he had done introduction with some girl in his base and they were getting married in 3mths.
I almost went mad, infact I stopped living for a while. Just existed.
It was this my same parents that wiped my tears, encouraged me, my mum will be on d fone with me at 3am when I cldnt sleep, encouraged me to eat etc.
One needs to be careful doing all out war with ur family over a man. That can disappoint you anytime, even after marriage.

Guess who wld help you if dis happens, guess who wld take you in, guess who wld help yup care for ur kids, it's all them.
This girl needs to thread cautiously, I guess at 28 she hasn't seen life yet, or had experience dat some men can be demons.
    Nonso thread carefully.
I am not saying her parents are right for locking d guy up, I'm just saying it isn't wise to make an enemy with ur parents, even ur siblings, over a man.

The fear and shame of going back to the family will then set in. Shine your eyes Dokito Nono, you need the consent of your family before you go ahead with any man maka na, men of nowadays have charisteristics traits of demons. Love is never enough. You need support system. Back up. Incase of incasity.

  42. The doctor's father went to the extreme by having the husband arrested. As his child didn't listen to him,he could have left her alone since she's an adult, let her learn the hard way.
Having said that, one should understand that parental blessing is very important in marriage. You have issues with your parents bcos of a man. What happens when you have issue with the man,who do you run to? This is not America or in Europe where people do as they well please. She didn't act well in my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Some parents can be so controlling. That's how a lady that I know wanted marrying her poor guy at the age of 27 but her parents objected. Now she is 40 and they are mocking her and asking her to bring a guy home. This same poor guy refused marrying or even dating another girl saying if not this lady then he will never marry in life. Men stayed away from this lady all these years, she dated but none asked for her hand in marriage. Now this same poor dude appeared and still asked for her hand in marriage. She has no choice than to accept and then her parents said she should not marry him cos he is still poor. This guy works as a teacher, doesn't dress well and he is Godly. As the lady said at 40 he is still a virgin (lol).... This lady never eloped with this poor guy. Yes, the guy too is a graduate with 2:1. She prayed and trusted God for a hubby. Now her parents have allowed her to marry him. So you see parents can delay their daughters because they want their daughters to marry rich men.
Nevertheless, back to NONO, do you really love this guy? Does he really love you? Would he stick by you come rain come shine? Can he wait for you for that long just like the story above? Well, it seems you look desperate and if care is not taken UGO will treat you as a desperado in your union. What if he turn his back against you, where will you run to? Your friends, your family or his friends or family? Please tread gently and may God give you wisdom to handle this.

    ReplyDelete
  44. People just open their mouths to say trash. Ugo is not a doctor. He is a 2:1 graduate of History and Strategic Studies from Unilag. He told me he dated the girl for 3 years before they got married. The fact is the girl's dad thinks Ugo is beneath them and does not want him to be a part of the family. He is also a control freak who wants nothing to do with Ugo and his family

    ReplyDelete
  45. There is a great deal of ignorant talk here on this matter from people who won't even bother to learn the basic facts before commenting, or at least taking the trouble to ask questions first.

First off, Ugo Madugba was never married. His first and only wife is Dr. Nono Madugba nee Orji.

Secondly, Ugo Madugba is a graduate. He has a masters and is currently studying for a doctorate.

Thirdly, the reason for all this trouble is that Ugo is not a medical doctor, as the parents have an obsession with the profession. Both of Nono's parents are medical doctors. All their children are doctors and they're trying to make all their children marry doctors. At which point are these children going to take control of their own lives?

Fourthly, a great deal of effort was made by the couple to persuade Nono's parents to give their consent, all to no avail. Family members and church officials who intervene on Nono's behalf are soundly castigated, cut off and branded as enemies.

Respect for your parents can only go so far. Let me ask those here: if your parent begins an unprovoked campaign of intimidation and abuse on your spouse, would you accept it? By unprovoked I mean that your spouse is not at fault, and you know this very well. Would you condone such behaviour from your parents? Is it not true that sometimes the most amiable solution is or both parties to go their separate ways?

Why do these people here think Nono has done all she has just to insult her parents, or that she didn't try to make things work between her parents and her husband? Even to this day, she reaches out to them and all she gets from them are insults. Visit Linda Ikeji's blog (http://www.lindaikejisblog.com/2016/12/couple-raises-alarm-as-in-laws-attempt.html) and see the latest round of insults she received from her family. Then tell me how and why a human being should endure such abuse simply for standing on her right as an adult woman well past the age of emancipation to make her own decisions.

Nono recently put to bed, and what her mother did after visiting her was to send the Lagos state child services after her, claiming that she can't care for the child, that she and her husband are doing drugs. She sent child services to take away a newborn baby! Yet people here are insulting Nono and her husband, calling one a wayward child and the other a layabout. Who here would accept this kind of devilish treatment from their parent(s) in the name of culture or honouring thy father and mother?

There are people here asking what would happen if Ugo disappoints. That's not an issue, as far as I'm concerned, because the only people who have so far disappointed her are her family and it is telling that while her parents have been doing their very best to frustrate her marriage, it's Ugo who is being the support she needs.

You also make the grossly false assumption that a family cannot disappoint as well. This has been known to happen on occasion, and is one such instance. If indeed Ugo does disappoint (God forbid), Nono's family is not the kind of family any sane person would want to fall back on.

The only reason Nono took this to the media was because the couple had their backs to the wall. They lack the financial resources and muscle available to her father and feared for Ugo's life. Who could they turn to? The police had been paid off.

They did what they had to do, not because of attention, but it was the only way they knew, after all other efforts failed, to keep themselves safe. Please, before mouthing off about what they should or shouldn't have done ask yourself what you would have done in their situation.

A lot of people here should be ashamed of themselves.
