The Abia State Government has given the Senate Minority Leader and ex -Governor of Akwa Ibom State , Godswill Akpabio, knocks over a comment credited to him that Abia pioneered kidnapping for ransom business in the country.

The government said that Akpabio’ s claim was “ erroneous and misleading ” .
The senator was said to have made the claim during plenary on Wednesday while contributing to the debate on Joint Committee Report on Police Affairs , National Security and Intelligence .
Reacting to the claim , the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State , Godwin Adindu , said that Akpabio was trying to re - write history .
“ This declaration by the Distinguished Senator is an attempt to re -write history whilst history remains constant. The most anti- human crime of kidnapping in all its ramifications , either for ransom or as a form of protest , remains a child of the Niger Delta. It was born and nurtured in the Niger Delta . Its roots go deep into the creeks .
“ Kidnapping in other places was an off -shoot of the failure of the management of the Amnesty Programme , when non -indigenes who were recruited to the barter trade of oil in exchange for arms and hard currency were excluded from the national amnesty programme.
“ The creek warlords had long started kidnapping for money before President Umaru Yar ’Adua introduced the pacification and rehabilitation programme” , Adindu said in a statement on Friday.

DeleteThe notorious Aba kidnapper Osisikankwu was a Niger Delta militant. When it came the amnesty programme came, he was excluded and was told to go back to his state. So he did and the rest is history.
ReplyDeleteI'm beginning to really hate that man Akpabio. He is a spineless corrupt man. As leader of the opposition he us supposed to be holding the government to account, but do you hear his voice? No! Where is his voice in the face of budget crisis, fuel scarcity, herdsmen issue, power shortage, student unrest etc????? That man is a disgrace; a fat bloated, corrupt, compromised disgrace of a man. He couldn't even be humble enough to attend the reunion of his Alma mata (fgc ph) and arrogantly claimed he was busy. Meanwhile Gov Ambode (may God bless his soul), the governor of the busiest and most prosperous state in Nigeria, humbly wore school uniform to attend the reunion at fgc warri.
And it is because of this sorry excuse of a man, Akpabio, that the governors forum was scattered during Jonathan's time and set the stage for many high profile defections. Disgusting!
@Anonymous 08.43, you just said right.
DeleteDon't mind Akpabio, he is trying to act holy to avoid prosecution by the current regime. A corruption fight without the prosecution of Akpabio, Theodore Orji, Uduaghan, Amaechi, Tinubu will be waste of time. Money recovered from the mentioned names can set Nigeria to Dubai level. Akpabio is the MOST corrupt recent past ex-Governor followed by Bros Amaechi but their god father is "Atinubu".
When he said kidnapping started in Abia state, what do we say to Rivers,Bayelsa, Delta boys that started kidnapping? We are still alive for someone to rewrite history.
Na dem sabi, tomorrow den go meet themselves for Heathrow deh open teeth drink cappuccino together
ReplyDeleteAkpabio is on drugs.
