Five pregnant young women, allegedly arrested by the Rivers State Police command at a baby factory in Umuikpe community , Isiala Ngwa South, Abia State, were paraded, yesterday, for planning to sell their babies to the owner of the place after delivery.
The pregnant woman, ages 22 -25, reportedly had an arrangement with the owner of the baby factory to take care of them till delivery after which the babies will be sold to her for prices ranging between N400, 000 and N500, 000.
One of the women in her early months of pregnancies, Nkechi Oguama , 24 years, disclosed she was into prostitution before she fell in love with an Ikwerre man in Ogbogologo, in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, adding that whenever she slept with her boyfriend she did so without protection, but made sure she had protective sex with her clients.

It's sad what this women want to do but arresting them doesn't solve the problem.
It is poverty that will make a mother after carrying a baby for 9months will decide to give out the child bcos of 400k. Even ivf doesn't cost this cheap so they should put measures in place to help these women instead of arresting them.
Will these mothers love and care of these children? The answer is no. These women need to be rehabilitated so that they don't see their babies as commodities that they can trade off when hungry.

Its ridiculous that police is arresting these women. This is done everywhere only it is more structured. You can't force them to be mothers let them give the baby out and its OK to receive compensation for that. Maybe the babies would have ended up in good home with people who really want kids but now police have condemned them to a life of suffering.

I know smone that adopted a baby girl from the East properly from a motherless baby's. It was out of the goodness of their heart they decided to help the mum go back to school and gave her scholarship. She is now a graduate.
If they don't arrest such ppl, next time any girl needs money, she will just feel she can get pregnant and they will give them 500k. She and d boyfriend can even plan such an act together. Human beings are not cattle dat such be reared and sold. It's unethical .
