Omugwo Chronicles -40

Nice story!

N.B. please ignore the typo errors, am #stealtyping in the office, so had to be fast.
Stella,I  hope my Omugo story will entertain some people here, hope to drop my wedding night brouhaha soon.

My first son came into our life during Christmas time (occupy Nigeria time). I had Episiotomy due to tears from the effect of a fat baby so  hubby will arrange for sitz bath, my mum could not leave her husband (Ruth) it’s not that the man is sick o, the maximum days my mom can spend outside her home is 2wks.  So we were at the hospital for 9 days because the baby had jaundice.

My mom-in-law is late, so hubby and I had discussed how we were going to work things out without anyone’s help. He slept in the hospital all through and will go to work from there. Our routine, the nurse picks up the baby to bathe him around 5am, I feed the baby and the baby sleeps off. After that hubby would help do the hot water punishment (on my body) we will fight sometimes, I will call him wicked, that the water is too hot, since we had an agreement he will just ignore me and continue, we did this for like 4 days until my mum came to join us at the hospital, he was able to go home but he was still coming every morning for my hot water punishment.

My hubby did most of the work his mom could have done, sometimes he will take the baby out of the room so that I can have enough sleep, and funniest thing is that the baby sleeps immediately he picks him up, but if na me, na to dey cry.

After 8days when we got home, my mom started bathing the baby and after circumcision she said she was going, I was heartbroken, I begged and cried, she offered me to follow her, I said I can’t leave my husband, she laughed and said “I can’t leave mine too” Omo see this old people after 38yrs of marriage.

Well the first day she left, WE bathed the baby ourselves (hubby and I), and there we laughed taya, see plenty water for ground, I was holding baby hubby was pouring water. Very funny, he will shout, please don’t drown this baby! It was fun sha, and we scaled through.

Although I had my fears, sometimes the baby just cries without reason and you try everything possible, sometimes I am afraid to use the diaper because of the circumcised penis. There were enough issues to be afraid but with a supportive husband and a dependent God, I survived it all
And by the time I had me second son, I don become pro! I can bathe 20 babies at once (side eye).

As usual hubby did the hot water punishment and we bathed 2 babies lol, my first and second and we still go to work, we did division of labour, I cook, hubby does laundry, and we both do other chores. I really thank God for this kind hearted man. Omo if na only me dey do all the work I for don die!

If you are lucky to have your mom or mom-in-law, just see it as a privilege, they don’t owe you the Omugo, if they choose to do it, please appreciate them, and if not just summon courage and live your life.

And I hope I end up like my mom too, not being able to leave my husband for more than 3 days, I want us to grow old in love together. Till we are 120yrs. Lol

LOL@your mum saying she cannot leave her husband.Nice story, you have a supportive husband.
