The Role Of Friends In A Union....

''I am bothered by the increasing sad tales of cheating husbands. I am bothered because I have sisters, nieces, friends and colleagues and would hate to see them go through troubles in their marriages.

One important area I believe every single woman should research into, with much gusto, is knowing the friends of the man she wants to marry. An old wise proverb says ‘show me your friends and I can tell who you are’. The kind of friends men keep, to a large degree, reflects/depicts their personalities.

When a woman meets a man and falls in love with him, she should, before walking down the aisle, find out the kind of friends he keeps – especially his male friends. Who are his friends? What activities do they enjoy together? What kind of affinity do they share and embrace?

What are their values and principles about life? Are they God-fearing? Are they honest people? Are their jobs and businesses legitimate? For his friends who are already married, how do they treat their wives?

Many marriages have crashed because of the roles played by friends of the man. When he stays out late, does his friends advise him to go home to his family? When he beats his wife, do they rebuke him and tell him it is wrong for a husband to beat his wife or they hail him and tell him he is ‘the man!’? When he starves his wife and the children and refuse to pay school fees, does his friends clap for him or they reprimand him and tell him a husband and a father MUST cater for his wife and children?

When he goes around sleeping with other women, do they encourage him by hooking him up with their female colleagues or they chastise him and teach him the virtue of chastity in marriage?

When my older sister got married some years ago, her husband would always come back home very late because after work, he would go ‘hang out with the boys’. My sister became worried and it affected their marriage. But thank goodness, his friends, who were all single at the time, cautioned him. They rightly told him he is now a married man and should spend more time with his wife instead of them. When he would not listen, they stopped calling him for hangouts and also changed where they usually meet and did not inform him.

Good friends! This made him realize his folly and he began spending more time with his wife. Right now, their marriage is the envy of most couples in their neighborhood. Sadly, not all friends would do this. They encourage the man to ‘hang out with the boys’ and by so doing, they contribute, albeit indirectly, to the possible failure of his marriage.

So ladies, when you meet a man, do not focus only on his personality, his family, his village or his pocket. Beam your searchlight on his friends, too. Get to meet them. Know their priorities, values and philosophy of life because your man’s friends play a role in the way he treats you.

Maybe, just maybe, if women take their time in finding out about the friends of the men that wants to marry them, the many sad tales of domestic violence, emotional abuse, deprivation, cheating, etc. would be reduced by half''.

    9. I don't know why I cheat! I got a beautiful, pretty and hardworking wife. I have an adorable baby girl, infact, I adore my dota.
I am not rich, handsome or with well built body, but ladies find me irresistible. Possibly cos I am generous.
I only fall for beautiful and sexy ladies and each time I got laid, I would be broken internally for cheating on her again and will always vow that the act will be the last until I meet another hottie.
I don't want to hurt my woman!
      I need help!
Sorry I have to go anon on this.

The first step to repentance is acknowledging your sins. You all threw stones at him without giving him a solution to his problem. Where's d love?

He loves his family but has a dirty habit that he can't seem to let go of.

If I come to u and tell u I'm a drug addict and I need help, will u throw stones and kick me out or would u rather help me?

If anyone has any reasonable advice for him, then go ahead and offer it and stop acting like saints that u're not.

@anon 13:53 I think u might have to tell ur wife dat u've been cheating and beg her like ur life depends on it cos it actually does.

I think telling her might help u discipline urself and she'll also be there to monitor and bring u back to ur senses.

  10. Well, some are influenced by their friends or even their family background (in cases of polygamy or a cultural thing from the community where they grew up) or a self cultivated habit. But albeit, a man or a woman should check the personality and background of their spouse before serious relationship before thinking of marriage.

Etc. You get my drift? Point is to a certain degree ur "friends" reflect ur inner perception, but its not always the case.... Its your mindset, not easily influenced.

    2. No, my darling. Infidelity has always been at its peak, the Internet only brings about the awareness and easy accessibility. Take king Solomon for example, I'm not sure we've ever had any man in recent times who had 500 women at his disposal let alone 1000. In the days of yore, polygamy was "on fleek". Some people's great grandfathers married over 5 women and still had concubines. "Civilisation" curbed polygamy to an extent though polygamy is still a legal type of marriage in Nigeria. ‎

Ironically, some of these sex toys you've mentioned are the reason some women don't cheat on their husbands. I agree that the Internet has helped to make it easier, though, especially for women. Since society applauds infidelity amongst men but shames the same practice amongst women. A lot of women carry out coded relationships with other men via social media.

    3. It's always been there. We are just older and more aware about marriage and issues concerning married couples now - esp those of us who are yet to get married. Ahn Ahn.... e don tay na... but when you're a kid who's aim in life is to pass exam and get Christmas cloth you won't be bothered if papa bisi is sitting in his car with the neighbors daughter. You will even greet them and pass. Sex toys too have always been. Porn back then wasn't it hints and hearts and playboy magazines? 😂 Didn't Shan George pose almost nude one time in the news papers? Most old Hollywood celebs used to release sex tape back then that ruined a lot of homes because husbands would buy the tapes of their Hollywood fantasies and won't touch their wives again.

Even importantation of babes.... It's an old habit that some of these boys learnt from their fathers.

Small gist...... (una know say I dey get gist abi? 😂) my dad had this younger business partner. Baddooo 🙌🏽. Very young handsome and rich. The guy dey import babes as far back as 1990s. He got divorced sef cos his wife was cheating too after he bought her a two-door one-in-town ride. They came for counseling in my house. As he was complaining the woman too opened his own. We pin ear for door 😂😂 See linen washing!! Anyhoo, they sha parted ways and so they both could live freely. But we heard that they were still gbenshing until recently 😂😂😂Then when we go for sleepover at his place in ikoyi back then (his first kids were around my age and I'm one of the youngest in my house) we dey see different things. Tall, short, black, fair, American accent, Romanian accent. Orisirisi!! Nice 'aunties' who the kids called daddy's guests. When I think about it now ehn I dey cut cap for am. In the mid 1990s I'm telling you EXOTIC babes. With his military friends. Do buffet, pop champagne, file out by 10pm to continue the party where kids won't see. monday morning e go carry face like say him dey too strict and disciplined! Of course the day we gisted my mum of what we used to see: sleepover finished and the friendship with my dad died a natural death 😂

Yet all these new money boys would be shouting as if they are the first to import cheap foreign babes! Abeg. The book of eccl. Summarized that 'there is nothing new under the sun. It's all vanity. You do and die another person take over'. No be ex-president chop apple 🍎 die? Who give am? No be imported hoe? My dear, this business it haff tay. But gist circulates faster now cos of technology. #dazall

Also you as a woman trying to use your husband's friends to determine most of the things the poster mentioned above to know the outcome of your marriage life is not totally accurate, because most friends will also decieve and hide thier true nature when you are around and say things you want to hear just so you do not leave their friend and call you sweet names like our wife even before he married you and do so to other ladies when you are not around

    1. Not exactly true. I had a friend that was dating one dude that associates with unserious fellas. At least, that was the way my sis and I saw them. Cos they hang around our former street, in front of football viewing center and could gossip for ages, once a girl passes, they will deliberate on her history. Was disappointed when my sis friend said one of the dudes was her bf. But we didn't discourage her, the guy turned out to be good, he had a good heart. Got a job, and married his gal. Due to change in status, he had less time to hang around streets though he still says hello to his former friends.
The point I'm making is sometimes not everyone is bad in a particular friend setting. Who knows, a good one may just be there for one or two benefits like Atheist pointed out. Cheating is a choice.

    2. I also know of one man that works offshore. His numerous colleagues had mistresses and flirt a lot cos they money and work shift permits that. But he didn't want to leave his life like that. Anytime his colleagues would have mistresses, he shows up with his wife. You won't believe that even with his habit, his wife is troublesome. And he usually says, I know it's because of my money you regard me. So, some men may not have the interest of mistresses or side chicks unless their wife pushes them.

  26. Stella i swear I was just thinking about this last night. God really uses your blog.
And i must say, i agree totally with everything Chad has said.
Yeah you are right. Some men would cheat even if they are on an island without any friend. But there are also those who have a bit of decency in them that would ordinarily not go out of their way looking for women. But there are those friends that always have different women to offer. The man might resist for some time, but at the end of the day, we are all human. One day he might just decide to play along.
So my husband was very open with me, till some months ago when I started sensing he was hiding something. He started hanging out like never .one night, I prayed to God, and the next day I discovered/stumbled upon about a certain lady. This caused so much tension in our marriage. At the end of the day, turns out madam lady was introduced by this close friend of his. Mr friend told hubby this lady likes him so much. Kept inviting madam lady to their hangouts. And she got closer and closer to hubby. On one occasion, they were somewhere and madam lady was telling hubby they should go out to a private place. Hubby didn't agree. And friends were teasing, that he had a lady willing to go to a 'private place' and he is dulling. They made fun of him that he had to leave them and go home.
Long story short, hubby has sworn with everything he holds dear, including his life, that yeah, he was getting close with madam lady, but not sexual had happened.
I asked for his phone and went through his chats. I saw chats with Mr Friend and almost all the chats were dirty pics and ' p***y jokes from mr friend to hubby. All the time .
At the end of the day, I thank God for calling my attention to whatever was about to happen. And I made my stance clear to hubby. Anybody that doesn't respect me or our marriage should not be a part of our lives. Cos if mr friend respected me ( he comes to our house often) and our marriage, he would be the one to stop hubby if he sees him doing something wrong. But to encourage it???? Nah He should stay away.
Not saying hubby doesn't have his blame too, just saying " most times we are not hungry, but the availability of food makes us want to eat"

  28. This is very true. Men tak about their relationships and marriages to useless friends more than women. I have had male interferences in the past. The thing is the men all live to regret their behavior. One of my ex'es had this friend who was married and will claim he was not and be having full fledged relationships with other women. While his wife was slaving abroad to feed him. I had witnessed him bring other women to functions with him. Or noticed he brought women to my boyfriends house then. We fought and fought over this guy. But I don't know why my ex insisted on this friendship until this boy destroyed his life. My ex recently got married and this man was in his wedding train. I wish his new wife well because she will see hell in that marriage as long as he refuses to get rid of that useless friend. When dating he gave my ex horrible advises on how to deal with his relationship. And my ex takes his advice and trusts him like kilode. I don't even know if they are gay lovers.lol. Thank God I refused to marry him when he asked. We will agree on a decision and suddenly my ex will come back and start giving crazy orders and acting strange. May we not have enemies who refuse to leave our business alone and attach themselves to us like a virus.

  30. If women would marry men who do not play with their church activities, such would not happen. It is easier to change a man who loves God than to change someone who has no fear of God.

The grace of God makes you mind the company you keep. You become uncomfortable with such company. It is only the grace of God.

There are men who come home early, they have no friends yet they are cheating with housegirl, co-worker, neighbors.

When it comes to sexual temptation, the best thing is to flee. Joseph flee from Portiphar's wife. He didn't sit down there to form 'I am a strong man and I can resist her'. 'Flee'is the word.

  31. A randy man with high libido and low family values doesn't need friends to carry out his shenanigans. At best, his friends with similar values will only act as enablers. What about pastors who cheat on their wives? You rarely see them associate with "worldly" friends, yet they carry out their atrocities like a smooth operator. I agree to an extent that a man can be influenced by his friends, but when it comes to infidelity, a man who can't fight the urge to have sex outside his home, will always find a way to do it with or without the help of friends. It's like having a palette for beer, having a cold glass of beer is ideal but you can always settle for room temperature as well.‎

Do you realise there are some men who act pious around their friends and even condemn the ones who keep side chics but parado‎xically they do worse when no friend is around. I agree that "hanging with the boys" can create the right atmosphere to cheat because there are usually very willing participants hanging around joints were guys hang out, a man who get lured in the process, is only doing what he has always wanted to do but lacked the opportunity. Not all men who hang out late cheat on their wives. Some don't go out late or hang with the boys but they have mistresses tuck in somewhere. Some men have friends who worship and adore their wives but they have some who abuse their wives in spite of all the admonition friends the circle of friends.

Unfortunately, infidelity can't be eradicated. It existed before Christ was born, perhaps before the days of Abraham and it ain't going nowhere. It is good to know the friends a man or woman keeps but more importantly, look out for a person with the fear of God in his/her heart. A person who has both an emotional and a physical connection with you, a person who truly loves and respects you. With these qualities, infidelity will never be a lifestyle. If it occurs, it's more like a moment of weakness that he/she will be so remorseful for and will be eager to make peace with God first before you.‎

Though it may be common with women but men also go through this. My brother is married to a psychopath with terrible mood swings who can do and undo when she's in that her mood but the annoying thing is that my brother has refused to get a divorce because he is a pastor with RCCG(i told him when he leaves RCCG wouldn't even remember his name let alone give him a post humuous award). So let's try create balance when talking about abuse in marriage and not be biased.

I am Mrs Felicia, I have been married to my husband for 8 years and we have a son of 4 years old. My marriage was very beautiful with my husband because we where so much in love with each other until my husband automatically changed towards me and my son. He started keeping late nights and stopped caring for me and our son
Several times i asked him what the matter was but he never had any reason for his wrong behavior towards me and our son. He keeps telling me that his head is heavy and he his tired with our marriage. He said he wants a divorce. I begged several times and reminded him of our lovely past life but he never listened to me nor the cry of our son. One day a friend of mine came into town then i told him about my situation. He connected me with a great powerful man called Dr Okosu. He told me that this man has helped him get his ex back and get a good job too. He advised me to give him a trial. I contacted this man via his email: drokosu01@gmail.com
He told me that my best friend was the cause of my problem. That my best friend is using a love charm on my husband so as to destroy my marriage. Ohh this got me really deverstated but thank God that Dr Okosu was able to break the charm and within 2 days my husband came back home and regained himself he showed me how much he loved me just as he use to. Everything worked perfectly and we are all living now as one happy family. Some days later my friend also came to me to confex her evil deeds and begged for my forgiveness. Dr Okosu asked me to forgive her and so i did.

I will continue to speak of your good works great Man Dr Okosu. And may the Almighty God continue to use you to help other people in this world.

Please my people don't suffer in silence, you too can also try this man i believe it would work for you just as it worked for me. This is his email: drokosu01@gmail.com
