    1. Thank God I am not a doctor. I will just drug the patient and jejely transfuse the blood. I will write the bill for the blood as vitamins or even pay from my pocket.
Is it not God that gave doctors the knowledge to transfuse blood? This doctrine is stupid

    2. Doctrines be misleading people since forever. All these churches be imposing doctrines on people.
Happyheart even as a doctor you cant do that else you'll be sued and your license can be withdrawn.
I remember back in the day when i was still little, deeper life people said television is a sin. You never see television in their homes no matter how wealthy they are. The same G.O that told them so started preaching on tv and it no longer became a sin. Now they use tv at home. Its funny how some christians would call muslems extremist and most christians are too. And no, am not muslem!!
I hate nonsense, shey she don die now??😭😭😭Oya let her church be happy now.

    9. My own is thank God for once people said the truth about the cause of death not blaming the doctors as usual.
This is even a little of what happens in the hosp. Imagine if it were to be a child. One of my consultants almost lost her job because she chased the parents out and transfused the poor child. If you see what happened that day. The woman did it cos she is a very senior doctor and her husband is very wealthy and has govt connections. The wwhole church members came to the hospital and met security agents waiting. I thought a high profile criminal was on admission sef. The child moved from 2 to 1000 in just 1hr. It was like seeing someone rise from the dead. People should really be careful what doctrine they listen to.

    10. There is a kind of blood product(not whole blood) transfused to Jehovah witness ppl outside naija. Are their naija counterparts not aware of this? Jehovah witness members receive transition but not whole blood.

  2. Stella even in emergency they don't take blood, they carry something (maybe card) around in their wallet warning you not to transfuse blood to them no matter the case.

    6. Many churches do it. The most annoying thing that can happen to you as a doctor or Nurse on call is to have a member Of The lords chosen in labour. If anything goes wrong, hmmnn they will ask you to wait for their pastor to come first. Husband cannot even sign anything until pastor will come.
Most of their pastors are very very sluggish in moving and talking. They don't understand the term URGENCY.
That's how one of them wwill now and be asking you "Doctor, are you born again? Untop patient that is bleeding to death and fetal heart that is going. Next they will say they are waiting for authorisation from above.
Once the patient dies, that's when you will hear drama. They will just accuse the hospital of everything ac usable. They will now want to force you operate on a corpse. That moment when they realize you haven't been joking.
We are the lords chosen and we must deliver like the Hebrew woman. By the time you finally convince them to do the surgery, you will use another 1hr to persuade them to remove all the things they tied in all parts of their body, Infact if you don't take care, once you attempt to remove it,they will attack you as if it was the devil that sent you. If they finally agree, another 30mins to remove the roadsafety banner, wrist bands (usually about 4 in each wrist), then the one they now wear in the waist SMH. Some even rotten and smelling cos they wear it immediately they get pregnant, to bathe etc and never remove it. Layers upon layers of dirt.

    11. Wow, so I cracked you guys up? Lols. Maybe dats why my sisters always disturb me to gist them every day I come back from work. Hospital chronicles, they will just be laughing and laughing. Maybe, Stella should make room for Doctors to send funny patient encounters too. I have also had a case of a patient accused me of being wicked because instead of giving the blood to drink fast, I decided to transfuse it thru the veins and make it go slowly so that I can watch him die. He just yanked off the blood and drank then went to yank off a neighbours dextrose drip to use and wash it down. He now said aahhh this one is even sweet sef. If you see race at the emergency ward, patients, relatives, cleaners, nurses and doctors see race. Lagos general hospitals or is it the one that brought a boy with nail hammered into his head. She said she went to cure his stubbornness and she paid plenty for that o. I have seen something sha.

      Delete
    12. Another fact is that Jehova witness doctors don't agree to transfuse their patients. Dats why one of my consultants makes it a point of duty to take their names and veto fail all of them in the final exams. Once you say No to the scenario of someone that only blood transfusion will save. Na fail be that oooo. Next year he will still come and ask you the same question, Infact one stubborn boy kept falling for 4years until he left to graduate from another school.
Roman catholics are against contraception so the man use it to lay ambush for. Reverend sister doctors, even to use condom is not acceptable. No exception even at the point of rape, even when someone has a condition that will kill her if she gets pregnant and maybe the person already has enough children, they will still say No. Even ejaculating outside (coitus interruptus) is also a method of contraception, they frown at it. I really don't know. These Jehova witness doctors will still come to govt hosp and be claiming right, shoud they not go and get their own hospitals?

N our ability or tenacity to hold on unto what we believe in even in d face of death is what set us outside d others. As one who resides in d hospital arena, I ave seen those some of which u well-know that had had several panes of blood transfused into n still dies. He that love his soul more than me will lose it but he that hate it's soul n love me ( my laws) will ave it again, Jesus ejaculated. If you know what blood truly contains, d several generations of DNA coded in, out side d spiritual linkage of both bless n cursed ancestors that every homologue of dat homologous series is carrying, u will seal ur mouth n not insult wat u do not know. 1. Oga Orugbo, your argument is that blood is sacred because of cursed ancestors and all that. Is that not why we should always pray and cancel all ancestral curses? Nobody know if they have ancestors that have been cursed which is why we should pray that we do not suffer for the sins of the previous generations.

It is God that gave Doctors wisdom to know about blood transfusion so that lives can be saved. Trust me if he did not want that, it will not work. Scientists have been trying to clone humans but they have not succeeded because God has not made it possible for them.

It is just so sad that some people will choose death over life.

    3. During blood transfusion, what is transfused is the red blood cells and red blood cells have no nucleus, hence no dna. However, traces of a donors dna can still be found in a recipient like 7 days after a transfusion, in most cases it usually disappears after that. Our life source is blood quite all right, and God said we should not shed blood. However, transfusion does not hurt the donor in any way, it saves the life of someone and it is God that gave mankind this knowledge.

Actually yes, Jesus said if you lose your life while obeying his father, you will gain it.

Please, read the scriptures cited in 2 comments above this. And ask questions.

As for me & my household, we will obey Jehovah!
People want, nay, demand miracles that sounds like a lie, but refuse to obey God even in the face of death! Remember Shedrach Meshach & Abednego? Why did they opt for death rather than agree to worship an idol?

The injunction is clear, do not take blood, in any & every form, which includes transfusion. This is the 21st century, most of us have smart phones, please use google. Many many hospitals home & a road have successfully used non blood alternatives to save lives.

  38. @ Nkiru @least your mum had a chance. What about those that lived after they got the transfusion? There are lots of people out there that lived after they got blood. Im not a bible scholar but why are people stuck in the old testament? Old things has passed away and all things has become new. Im sure God is up there shaking his head because he is sorry for some people.

  42. Well, I may not be able to answer y'all but I will touch some points.
Jehovah's Witnesses forces no one to agree with what the Scriptures say on blood, each person agrees with what the Bible says on Blood because of our uncompromising love to obey God's laws no matter what. Gen 9:4,Lev 17:1-11. Nothing will make any adherent of those Scriptures go against it.
But you may ask, did Bible never mentioned transfusion but direct consumption of blood. Lemme ask you, is there anywhere in the Scriptures where it was states that we should not *Smoke? Why do most Christians frown against it?
We are of the opinion and strongly agrees with Matthew 16:25, we would not wanna prolong our lives disobeying God's laws. In case you guys don't know, what if she still never survived after accepting transfusion?
Most of the false teachings the Witness have been exposing for decades using the Bible, many other churches now accept that that's what the Scriptures truthfully teaches, so on this issue too, y'all will understand later on.
Many people prefer take sides with public opinion without making their own research to see if what they believe in right, even though some verses of the Bible have been quoted up there, just because many just hate the Witnesses, they won't read it.
We love our dear sister so much and it pained us death claimed her, but we are not without hope, she's in God's memory and she'll be resurrected in the last day. I hope one day someone somewhere will remember these statements and be moved to boldly speak up.

  43. What Does the Bible Say About Blood Transfusions?

    The Bible’s answer
The Bible commands that we not ingest blood. So we should not accept whole blood or its primary components in any form, whether offered as food or as a transfusion. Note the following scriptures:

Genesis 9:4. God allowed Noah and his family to add animal flesh to their diet after the Flood but commanded them not to eat the blood. God told Noah: “Only flesh with its soul—its blood—you must not eat.” This command applies to all mankind from that time on because all are descendants of Noah.
Leviticus 17:14. “You must not eat the blood of any sort of flesh, because the soul of every sort of flesh is its blood. Anyone eating it will be cut off.” God viewed the soul, or life, as being in the blood and belonging to him. Although this law was given only to the nation of Israel, it shows how seriously God viewed the law against eating blood.
Acts 15:20. “Abstain . . . from blood.” God gave Christians the same command that he had given to Noah. History shows that early Christians refused to consume whole blood or even to use it for medical reasons.
Why does God command us to abstain from blood?
There are sound medical reasons to avoid blood transfusions. More important, though, God commands that we abstain from blood because what it represents is sacred to him

  44. Jesus said, it is not what goes into a man that defiles him.Nobody can even brainwash me in the name of religion. Even when my Bishop, Oyedepo is preaching, I cross check with what my Bible says. The problem with all these fanatics,is that they don't read the holy book. So when one nuisance comes up with a revelation from the pit of hell, they swallow it,hook, line n sinker.they have no depth,so they keep perishing for lack of knowledge.

  45. Why Don’t Jehovah’s Witnesses Accept Blood Transfusions?

    Common misconceptions
Myth: Jehovah’s Witnesses don’t believe in medicine or medical treatment.

Fact: We seek the best possible medical care for ourselves and our families. When we have health problems, we go to doctors who have skill in providing medical and surgical care without blood. We appreciate advancements that have been made in the medical field. In fact, bloodless treatments developed to help Witness patients are now being used to benefit all in the community. In many countries, any patient can now choose to avoid blood-transfusion risks, such as blood-borne diseases, immune-system reactions, and human errors.

Myth: Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that faith will heal a person’s ailments.

Fact: We do not practice faith healing.

Myth: Avoiding blood transfusions is very costly.

Fact: Medical treatments that avoid blood transfusions are cost-effective. *

Myth: Many Witnesses, including children, die each year as a result of refusing blood transfusions.

Fact: This statement is totally unfounded. Surgeons regularly perform such complex procedures as heart operations, orthopedic surgery, and organ transplants without the use of blood transfusions. * Patients, including children, who do not receive transfusions usually fare as well as or better than those who do accept transfusions. * In any case, no one can say for certain that a patient will die because of refusing blood or will live because of accepting it.

Why don’t Jehovah’s Witnesses accept blood transfusions?
This is a religious issue rather than a medical one. Both the Old and New Testaments clearly command us to abstain from blood. (Genesis 9:4; Leviticus 17:10; Deuteronomy 12:23; Acts 15:28, 29) Also, God views blood as representing life. (Leviticus 17:14) So we avoid taking blood not only in obedience to God but also out of respect for him as the Giver of life.

    Changing viewpoints

Complex surgeries can be successfully performed without blood transfusions
At one time, the medical community generally viewed strategies for avoiding transfusions, so-called bloodless medicine, as extreme, even suicidal, but this has changed in recent years. For example, in 2004, an article published in a medical education journal stated that “many of the techniques developed for use in Jehovah’s Witness patients will become standard practice in years to come.” * An article in the journal Heart, Lung and Circulation said in 2010 that “‘bloodless surgery’ should not be limited to J[ehovah’s] W[itnesses] but should form an integral part of everyday surgical practice.”

Thousands of doctors worldwide now use blood-conservation techniques to perform complex surgeries without transfusions. Such alternatives to blood transfusions are used even in developing countries and are requested by many patients who are not Jehovah’s Witnesses.

  48. It is not the lady fault and being a Jehovah Witness did not kill her.If anyone is to be blamed,It is the hospital fault for not having blood alternatives and other treatments.
Fact 1 - Having blood transfusion does not mean that you will survive.
Fact 2- Most doctors refuse blood transfusions because it is not safe.A lot of people have gotten diseases such as Aids,Hepatitis, Hiv from transfusion blood.
Fact 3- Jehovah Witness do not force people or impose their beliefs on others.Accepting or refusing blood transfusions is based on a person conscience. Most hospitals accept and acknowledge Jehovah witnesses beliefs on blood transfusions and even encourage their patients by providing other alternatives to blood.
Fact 4- Hospitals in Nigeria are known for being negligent and endangering patient lives.I believe the doctors should have prepared and anticipate a situation like this and provided alternatives for this woman.
There are hospital around the world who specialise in providing efficient and appropriate care for patients who refuse blood.
Being a Jehovah Witness does not stop a person from refusing blood transfusions. It is based on the patient conscience and personal decision.Witnesses do not accept transfusions of whole blood, red cells, white cells, platelets, or blood plasma.
Once again,Jehovah witnesses do not force or impose on their beliefs on people.Jehovah Witnesses are normal people who live and have day to day problems like everyone else. They belive what the Bible say and that is to Abstain from Blood meaning not taking in any form of blood either by eating foods with blood in it such as Black pudding, pig heart or drinking blood.Jehovah believe in not taking blood in any form.Thats is why most hospitals have blood alternatives such as Volume replace mentioned,Growth factors,Intra- Operative Cell Savage,Plasma and plasma expanders.
I think it is time we stop blaming the witnesses when a person dies because he or she refused to take blood. This woman is dead due to to the negligence and inappropriate care administered to her by the doctors.

It's very simple, if you need to know more about what gave her the confidence and conviction to stand her ground to death, simple approach one of them and ask or better still visit their site jw. Org and ask questions intelligently. If you wake her up and ask, she will tell she doesn't regret her decision. So pls stop crying fowl her and labeling her all kinds of name, for a sympathy she didn't ask for

  51. Mr. George, you may view the opinions of the Witnesses as nonsense... Nonetheless, there is freedom of religion and so everyone is entitled to believe what they view as the truth... It is interesting how any case involving Jehovah's Witnesses always seems to raise a lot dust. Do people of Other religions not encounter similar problems. Sure it's easier to criticise than to understand.... but bloodless medicine (that is medicine that rejects blood transfusions) is now being championed even in countries with the most advanced research in medical science... It is safer, it is cheaper, it is healthier ... So Mr. George , don't hate, investigate... Do your research on issues before adopting a rabid opinion such as this... Flinging mean words at other people does not make you a better person... She certainly had the choice to adhere to Bible principles (no one is forced to become a witness) and she exercised that choice, which was her right. She awaits the resurrection, safe in Jehovah's memory. The truth is that many people who accept blood still die... So transfusions are no guarantee to life... Instead, they carry along all kinds of threats due to contaminated blood..besides the Bible advises the we "abstain from blood", Act. 15:29, because blood equates life, from God's standpoint Lev. 17:11..its been specified as the substance for ATONEMENT,.. As in the case of Christ's ransom... according to the scriptures... Now, Even if you don't accept other people's religious views, the fact remains that they are entitled to them...a post such as this may garner a few likes and some popularity, but it speaks little of tolerance and respect of opinions other than yours... Like I said, don't hate,... Investigate... You're welcome to learn more about the truth from Jw. Org... Cheers...

  52. Will you?;because the doctor tells you not to drink alcohol decides to take it via the vein?

Taking it through the vein via drip or consuming it through the mouth is the same.

We know of cases whereby some persons decides to take hard drugs via the veins instead of through chewing or sniffing...
What about taking medications orally of which some prefer and taking it through injection or drip (Intravenous IV)
At the end of the day, an individual gets the same effects whichever methods of consumption one chooses...
Same goes too with the issue of blood transfusion and eating blood... It's logical...
As Acts 15:28,29 admonishes... The command is clear.

Education is not intelligence: that is the case of the comments coming for bvs...

Ask questions, do research, don't use public opinion or some kind of error in reasoning (Fallacy) to judge anybody...

  53. sad that this pretty lady died.

many here have posted comments, both senseless and sensible ones. However, this news item as presented on this blog did not accurately mirror what happened in real life. No one seem to be talking about the fact that she died as a result of mistakes from medical professionals. owners of news blog should make concerted efforts to confirm a news item before posting. to all of you that commented, always remember you don't have the full story before you comment.

True, Jehovah's witnesses do not take blood transfusion.
True, the deceased refused blood transfusion.
However, she was mistakenly given the wrong injection at the hospital she was initially which compound her birth complications. The hospital offered a blood transfusion which she refused based on her Bible based belief.
she was transferred to a hospital with a knowledge of alternative to blood transfusion. there she was given blood expanders and other alternatives. sadly she eventually died as a result of the wrong injection she was given.

Learn to find the accurate story first. she died as a result of the inefficiency of the hospital she was in. not because she refused blood transfusion and didn't have enough blood.
