Governor Shettima Says ''IPOB Crisis Is Bigger Than Boko Haram"

The Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB separatist crisis being spearheaded by Nnamdi Kanu is bigger than the activities of the deadly terrorist group Boko Haram, Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima has said.

Speaking in Owerri during a meeting with Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha, when he led a truce team of North’s governors to the state, Shettima said the threats posed by the Nnamdi Kanu-led secessionist IPOB to the nation’s survival are far bigger than those posed by Boko Haram.

He said it was for this reason that he had to leave the killings going on in his state behind to join Governor Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto) Simon Lalong (Platueau) Aminu Bello Masari (Katsina) and Abubakar Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi), on visits to Abia, Rivers and Imo, seeking peace.

“Only this morning, 25 people were killed in my state via explosions carried out by three suicide bombers, but I have to be on this mission because of what it means to the nation,” he said.

He noted that the huge population of Nigeria makes it imperative to avoid anything that could lead to war among its tribal groups, wondering which country would have the capacity to accommodate Nigerian refugees in the event of another civil war.

He said: “What we wanted to forestall actually was a mass movement of Nigerians from one part of the country to another. It was a very dangerous signal.

  1. If I cuss him out, they'll say I'm insulting my elder. How is IPOB bigger than Book Haram, a known terrorist sect?

  6. Much as I am not against any non-violent call to reasoning by any group against the FGN, I see wisdom in the action of these governors from the North.

  8. This man has pooped through his mouth!
25 people a day are killed in your state by suicide bombers
and IPOB that has never been reported to kill anyone is "more dangerous?"
    And Cockroach Okorocha received him?
Why not tell us that if Biafra is actualized, that your jumbo looting will be truncated?
And that IPOB is more dangerous to your thieving pockets.

  12. As in ehn..na real senseless talk be this. These our leaders keep embarrassing themselves everytime. They don't talk with facts. They just say whatever comes to their heads. So Shettima came all the way without preparing a good speech. Boko Haram that have killed hundreds of thousands and displaced a great number of citizens is less dangerous than IPOB? Okay oo. We are observing.
