Ex-US Ambassador Says Patience Jonathan Was Arrogant As First Lady

A former United States Ambassador to Nigeria, John Campbell, has described former President Goodluck Jonathan’s wife, Patience, as being arrogant and flamboyant when she was Nigeria’s first lady.

In a piece he wrote on Friday, ‘Nigerian President Buhari’s Sisyphean Efforts’, and posted on Council on Foreign Relations’ website, Campbell also wondered how Jonathan’s wife became wealthy having spent most of her life as a civil servant.

The ex-US envoy stated, “Patience Jonathan as the first lady was flamboyant, arrogant, and widely disliked. She has yet to be convicted of a crime. However, it is curious how a person who spent most of her career in public service could accumulate an acknowledged $35 million in a poor country.”

  1. I believe him. The only reason they enter politics is 2 amass wealth 4 themselves, not for the benefit of the masses. No wonder they fight & play dirty.

  3. yes she was arrogant ,but we like her like that ,abeg your leave our mama peace alone ,just be ordinary cleaner to governor in Nigeria and see how rich you will become over night , talkless of wife of the president of the federal republic of Nigeria.I weep for my country Nigeria , money that can give Nigeria steady power supply for a life time is one persons hands , then calculate how many have such money in their possession and you do understand that Nigeria is a big joke.

    1. Are you for real? I seriously find it difficult to comprehend when I see comments based on sentiments. It’s time we begin to make unemotional comments so we can influence the younger generation. I know our leaders aren’t helping matters but we can change that when we begin to focus and demand good governance, transparency, accountability from leaders in government, corporate institutions and even our communities. Let’s set the pace now. May God unite us so we can fight and change our situation soon.

  6. Her arrogance alienated a lot of people from her husband. It helped to ruin him. Jonathan allowed a lot of nonsense. We have to all stand together without sentiments to keep these politicians accountable regardless of what region they come from. The only class here is rich and poor.
