Minister Of State For Petroleum Kachikwu Protests Award Of $25b Contracts By NNPC

A crisis of confidence has broken out between Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu and Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Group Managing Director (GMD) Dr. Maikanti Baru.

The minister has accused the GMD of awarding $25billion contracts without consulting either his office or the corporation’s board. He blamed the GMD for alleged insubordination, lack of adherence to due process and running a “bravado management style”.

Kachikwu said he was being sidelined by the GMD and other heads of parastatals in major decisions and appointments. He also added he was always being blocked from seeing the President.

He urged President Muhammadu Buhari to call the GMD to order to ensure due process and transparency in the oil sector.

  2. Kachikwu doesn't know these people that's why he agreed to work with Buhari who sidelined him. The GMD and Buhari will work together to suck this nation dry. It's better for Kachikwu to resign and save his neck. People think APC is an anti corruption government. They will be shocked at the amount of money stolen

    1. Same way Minister of State for Transportation is dealing with Amaechi. Forget about public smiles, Amaechi is not finding it funny. Only that the money is good. He wants to loot as much as he could b4 they show him the door. Buhari is just evil.

  4. Kachikwu has entered one chance with Buhari and the cabal. Nigerians believe Buhari is fighting corruption but this is the worst stealing yet + terrible nepotism way beyond that which Nigeria has ever seen.

  8. Dem wan steal another $25 billion.
APC dey use EFCC to chase Diezani for NNPC money, come dey send mercenaries for background to rob same NNPC.
The robbery through shared tax revenue must not be enough.

  9. As @ the last check, Kachikwu is Igbo, and "Nyamiri" according to Arewa parlance and most by now, know what that entails when it comes to who weilds power in Naija's corridors. Plus, Baru as a kitchen cabinet member can do no wrong. Why, Kachikwu fall hand like this? Wasn't he at first Minister before demotion to Minister of State of same ministry? So, he didn't know his role is just for optics? It's time for integrity to shine: Naijas should stop serving administrations that do not honor their dignity nor humanity for crumbs off of the master's table. QED@atm
