Lagos Baale Reportedly Crushes Wife To Death With Jeep After A Disagreement

A traditional ruler in Ise Town, Ibeju Lekki, Lagos State, Taibu Ogunbanjo, is currently cooling his heels in police custody for allegedly crushing his wife to death. The baale runs a block-moulding factory at Folu, a community in Ibeju Lekki.

Taibu and his wife, Rotimi Ogunbanjo, got married three years ago, but the marriage had been fraught with misunderstanding and fights. On Thursday, December 7, 2017, the couple reportedly had a disagreement. After the altercation, Rotimi was said to have gone to the baale’s factory and damaged some blocks on the premises. Taibu reportedly entered his Toyota Highlander, and was driving out of the premises in anger when he knocked down his wife.

A community leader, who identified himself simply as Akinsipe, said the wife died on the spot, adding that the corpse had been deposited at the Epe General Hospital.

He said, “He (Taibu) is the baale of the community. He and his wife had been having issues since they got married. I did not know what actually happened between them on that day, but I learnt that they had a disagreement in the morning. She went to his block factory and destroyed some blocks arranged on the premises. He entered his vehicle angrily and as he was driving out of the premises, the wife tried to stop him. He hit her and she died on the spot.

Akinsipe stated that the matter was reported at the Akodo Police Station, adding that the baale had been arrested.

A police source said, the relations of the suspect have said that it was a case of an accident. But looking at the circumstances surrounding the incident, the accident claim is untenable. He could not have lost control of the vehicle on the premises as a result of speeding. There is a limit to the speed the car can go on the premises.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chike Oti, who confirmed Rotimi’s death, said the command would investigate the matter to unravel the motive behind the baale’s action.

  5. Any marriage you not happy just leave, they won't hear now she gone, if you're not happy me I prefer staying in a corner to cry than reacting cos I might be so aggressive n won't know what to do next, so na to siddon cry for corner, then I'm relieved.

  7. This is the same marriage I've not heard word for right? I hope he gets a long time. So deliberate and wicked of him.

    1. Your ears are deliberately tuned to negative reports of marriage to continue deceiving yourself that its better to remain single. There are literally millions of happy people in marriages, you wont see those ones.

    2. Don't be so quick to give needless advice even if you're mad at the comment. This year makes it 34 for my parents and I want just the kind of MIL my mum has had. So for me it's not about what I've heard. I know there are happy ones cos I'm a product of one and we're surrounded by others. That's me reacting to the situation. Thanks by the way.

    3. Charity, don't be deceived. It takes two to tangle as well as Mingle. Yes your mum might have been lucky to get a good MIL. But do you think she never hurt your mum? No. There would have been times when your mum would have wished her dead but handled the situation with the fear of God.
Just concentrate on being a great person, loving, accommodating, patient and forgiving, then top it up with prayers and you will be fine. Always remember to apply the mumu game of always being quiet when your boo is angry, no explanations, no justification just be quiet. It goes a long way. Wish you all the best

  8. This is serious... For life the trauma would haunt him. Chaiiii what anger can cause...even it was an accident his state of mind would have aggravated the situation.

  9. From the write-up,its not deliberate.now can the life be brought back?why didn't she take a step back to think of things getting out of hand before heading to the factory?he let the devil destroy his life!

  10. I'm not supporting domestic violence. But as married women we must also take control of our anger when men piss us off. Don't let things escalate to the extent of destroying properties.
I have a male friend whose ex-wife will always destroy things when they argue. His final straw was when she tore up the whole house. Took a golf club and smashed the tv, stereo, glass center tables, ornaments in the parlour, pictures frames, plates everything.
He left that house and never went back. He said he has been told she is possessed and will eventually destroy him. Mind you he doesn't hit her. He just leaves the home when she starts. He can leave for days. She has torn his clothes uncountable times.
He has lost touch with their only child. I'm still trying to convince him about seeing his daughter 5years now.
He is very wealthy and his mum helps him send money for the girls upkeep and he reimburses the mum. Because he's been told by pastors not to have contact with the lady.

  12. Never marry a man/woman with anger issues.

  13. I'm hoping it's the right report. It is very possible the man has used the woman for one fetish sacrifice but use their anger issue to cover up.

  14. She dared him to her grave.how sad.

She went to destroy his blocks which must have sky rocketed his anger and then...again, she most likely stood in his way.

Anger is just one letter short of
    Danger.
