*10 COMMUNICATION TIPS FOR COUPLES*

A lot of times, couples get pissed off with each other by the way they respond to spoken words. We can do better if we learn response in the *affirmative* and not in the *combative*. Read the following:

1. *Statement:* I'm really hungry.
- *Wrong response:* Even I myself have not eaten since morning.
- *Right response:* Oh sorry, let's see if there's something you can manage for now.

2. *Statement:* Why don't you try this option?
- *Wrong response:* Why is it that you always find fault with what I do?
- *Right response:* Well, I've tried this before and I think it will work. If not, I'll try that.

3. *Statement:* I want more food.
- *Wrong response:* Ha-ha, rice has finished, garri has finished, and ingredients are almost finished, and there's no sign of salary yet.
- *Right response:* Sorry, please manage that for now; I'll find some snacks for you later.

4. *Statement:* I can't finish this food.
- *Wrong response:* Ha-ha, things are expensive o; and you can't be wasting food like this. You will eat it tomorrow!
- *Right response:* Should I keep the rest for you, or give it out?

5. *Statement:* I got wounded in kitchen.
- *Wrong response:* I've told you to always be careful with the knife.
- *Right response:* Oh sorry, let me have a look. You need to be more careful next time.

6. *Statement:* Are you okay; is anything the matter with you?
- *Wrong response:* Can't you see yourself; what kind of question is that?
- *Right response:* I'm not feeling fine; I think I need some attention.

7. *Statement:* I'll like to eat corn flakes.
- *Wrong response:* No way! It's for the children; and that's for one month! Take garri if you are hungry.
- *Right response:* Okay, you can eat a little. I trust you'll give us money to stock another.

8. *Statement:* Haven't you finished what you are doing?
- *Wrong response:* You are seated there doing nothing and you are asking if I've not finished!
- *Right response:* It will still take a while; can you please lend me a hand?

9. *Statement:* I bought this on my way; I thought it will be useful.
- *Wrong response:* How much did you buy it? What! That's too expensive - wọ́n ti gbá ẹ!
- *Right response:* Thank you; it will indeed be useful. Thanks for the surprise.

10. *Statement:* Handle that thing carefully please.
- *Wrong response:* Am I that daft? You will just be instructing me as if I don't have any sense.
- *Right response:* Yes dear, I will.

*_A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger._*

* Please send to your spouse and other couples, not for the purpose of condemnation, but for continuous improvement of your/their love relationship*

DISJOINTED RANT

Good day Stella, please don't mind my disjointed piece as it sterns out of anger. I have been meaning to write you but was ashamed of the whole thing until after reading yesterday chronicle and this leads me to ask....

How can a man who calls himself a father/husband leave the whole burden of the family on the wife just because she earns more yet some people  will still have the mouth to call women good for nothing just because most women try to cover their husbands inadequacies.

All my life, people see us as this lovely family but deep within i feel bitterness some moments. Yes it's true that dad was doing good initially until things went soar, i wasn't even upto five but immediately he realized mum is financially okay he left everything for her from feeding to sponsoring us in school even paying of rents.

My anger isn't that mum is financially stable than dad but because the little he has is used in helping the needy outside totally ignoring us yet i heard that charity begins at home, i can't remember all through my life when he paid any of our fees nor did something spectacular, don't get me wrong.  He is a good father and good Christian one at that, pampers everyone but no financial commitment and no he isnt cheating on mum. Mum have really suffered in training us almost done with the last child and it's so painful i still don't have a good job to support her. Now I'm in a relationship and it's affecting me because my boo believes that i am very stingy and can't get anything for him without knowing how angry i am inside because of the way i was raised, thinking all men do is to brainwash women into slaves taking the glory while society turns around to blame them for not bringing anything to the table, if not for love i wouldn't even be dating  and my mum's experience has taught me a great deal. Please no one should insult my father as i still love him and don't wish him harm but i just have these few words for all

!- Men please wake up and stop leaving the financial burden for your wives to carry alone, you may be thinking that you are smart but wouldn't know your kids are watching just like i have been doing for the past twenty something years

2 -Women please stop letting your husband know your financial status, no one says you shouldn't contribute but don't fall mugu for him:

3 -Women if you are to trust your husband with your finance, make sure he is worthy of it and has really worked hard for a long while to earn it.

4- Men please i beg you in God's name to stop letting innocent women who treats you as king down:

5- Bvs please pray that God should help me see things in different ways, remove my fear and may my fiance never fail to do his responsibility in future
I'm so scared of marriage:

How I was defrauded by fake bureau de change operators at airport hotel ikeja

Dear Stella,
I am a quiet SDK blog fan, post comments when i have to :otherwise I sit back and enjoy the platform.

I will like to share this experience with you and will be glad if you can use your platform to sensitive the public, especially Lagosians.

Dear friends, pls beware of some fraudulent bureau de change guys at entrance to Airport Hotel Ikeja. They will change the money at the approved exchange rate but will use diabolical means to collect the money from you when you leave.

I did not know such things are real until my experience.

I was on my way to a dinner at the Chinese restaurant at the Airport Hotel, Ikeja on Sat 24th Feb 2018, when some bureau de change personnel approached me by the hotel entrance soliciting for business. They asked if I will like to change foreign currency, which I reluctantly answered in the affirmative for a little amount of GBP (Pounds sterling) and ZAR (SA Rands).

Initially the money I received was short of NGN 500, which was completed and recounted. The hotel security staff asked if the money was complete and when I demanded to know why they asked, i was told sometimes they guys issues fake naira notes and other times they do not give complete cash.

I verified again and my money was complete and I could not go back to them to reverse the transaction based on what the security staff told me. What iif they give me back fake pounds and rands.

I was shocked to discover that  the money was short of 5,000 naira on sunday (25feb 18) and it dawn on me that the money disappeared through diabolical means since I multiple-counted it before I left there And I purposely did not spend out of the cash due to a proposed budget.

Surprisingly, The hotel management are aware of this fraud as they confirmed this when I reported to them . They promised to follow up to ensure I get my money back, while I appealled to them to do  everything possible to send the criminals out of their premises. They said they have involved the police commissioner regarding the activities of those fraudsters  but still nothing is been done to stop them from their criminal acts.

The hotel bought a van and station police there to arrest the hoodlums but no meaningful arrest and prosecution has taken place from what the hotel senior managers confirmed to me.

When the fraudsters were confronted, they acknowledge and claimed it was a mistake and promised to refund the cash when the guy directly involved shows up.

Even as the case was reported to the police officer at the time of the complaint but nothing was done or has been done to those guys.

I am truly sorry Stella for this long epistle. I will be glad if you can find a space to publish this.

Thank you so much.

If you need to reach me on my monile, pls let me know.

God bless you.

Tee.

  2. Life's storms will come, no matter what. They will be loud, windy, rainy and downright scary. But remember these two things: One, by the power vested in you by God, you can tell the storm to be quiet. Two, the storm will pass, the sun will rise and YOU WILL STILL BE HERE. Do not give up hope or turn your back on what God has written on your heart -- for that will be your shelter in time of storm. Amen!

  5. So my friend's teeth has been whiter than snow nowadays. I asked her what she has been using because her teeth has always been very very brown. She has used all types of toothpaste including this expensive (2400) tiny Aloe forever toothpaste.

She said just charcoal. According to her she now uses charcoal to brush morning and night. And then uses close up to get that toothpaste mint in her mouth.

I was marvelled at the transformation. Her is now white like those ladies that smile in toothpaste advert.

Me I am thinking of which corn woman to borrow or buy charcoals from. I want to whiten mine too. I also saw hydrogen peroxides too. that it whitens teeth too. I never knew.

  23. Stella, he was short 5k not 500000.

A Nigerian will always be a Nigerian anytime and any day.

So yesterday, i went to the supermarket for some small shopping. There was dis item that was clearly written €1.99 on the counter and I bought 3 of them alongside other things. But upon payment the total wasn't just adding up in my head. So i paid and collected my receipt but since i wasn't convinced, I stayed there and went over the receipt. Lo and behold i was charged €2.17 for the €1.99 item which I got 3.

The foreigner in me said Eka, walk away, don't disgrace yourself but the naija in me no just gree at all.

I walked up to the cashier and asked if she spoke English. She said no and directed me to someone else. I went to her and her English was so limited that it couldn't pass for English.

One way or the other sha, I dramatized the whole thing showing her the item, price on counter and price I was charged.

We went back to the cashier and i was expecting drama or argument of some sort but cashier just checked my receipt and just counted 60cents and gave me.

    End of drama.

Ama give that to a homeless person today. Better that than unlawfully ripped of

After that, I used only sheabutter till now. I noticed that are getting darker this days that is why I needed a good cream for the eldest one.
