The management of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, has suspended Prof. Richard Akindele, whose telephone conversation in which he demanded for s§x from a female student was recorded and released on social media.
A member of the committee who pleaded anonymity disclosed this on Wednesday. He said the committee recommended the suspension of the professor in a report of the committee set up by the university to probe the matter and to authenticate the veracity of the telephone conversation, where the lecturer demanded to have s3x with the student five times before he would upgrade her mark from 33 to a pass mark.
In the leaked telephone conversation, the female student, who was gathered to be a postgraduate student doing her Masters in Business Administration, initiated a call and asked the professor about their earlier discussion on the matter. The member of the committee said, “The committee recommended the indefinite suspension of the professor pending the time the final report will be ready. The committee established a prima facie case against the professor. But note that this is the interim report of the committee.
The committee invited the professor and the female student. We identified the student and invited her, but she did not appear. Only the professor honoured our invitation. I don’t want to tell you what he said on the telephone. The committee member said the lady was an MBA regular student and added that the final report would be submitted after the lady might have appeared before the panel.

I will finish by 4:30 and maybe 5, I should be in the office. If you are ready, come by 5:00. Why did you tell me you were on your period the other time.
Student: I was really seeing my period Professor Akindele. But it was 3 people that failed the course, why are you saying two now.
Lecturer: Stop mentioning my name. You're the one that know. Two people failed it. And now nko?.

It’s not as if he approached you to demand that you sleep with him for good grades. You failed a course and you carried your legs to the lecturer to tell him to help you. Help you how? When you fail a course, is it not to carry it over that’s the only option? What magic were you expecting mr lecturer to perform, to change your 33 into a 70? How would that even be possible? She knew what to expect na. When you want to make an illegal demand, be ready to pay an illegal price. Assuming the man demanded only one round for an A, I’m sure she would have accepted because the convo sounded like she was contemplating it. Shameless people, the two of them.
