  1. And what is Kunle feeling like? Is he not one of the nollywood film makers? He must really think highly of himself.

    1. Kunle has not said anything wrong. Hardly dose not mean he dose not watch. Then he watches movies that challenges him. Simply put he wants to learn more, and by that he has to study from dose better than him. Please how many Nigeria movies are challenging? Is it the recycled stories or poor sound quality they keep producing. Kunle way to go jor .

    2. You guys are so fake and judgemental, have you cared to read or listen to Kunles interview? You guys decide to judge and say hateful things about this cool, hardworking guy. For those of you on Facebook, go on Kunle Afolayans page to read his side of the story as I read it few minutes ago.
I hope Egor has been able to achieve her 1 minute of fame. Shame on you Egor.

    6. But Kunle did not say anything wrong. Most of those films are trash. Why watch a movie that ends up annoying you?

  2. I'm not so impressed with that statement of Kunle when I read it,you don't watch nollywood but expect me to come to cinema and spend my money to watch your films, nonsense 😎😎😎

  4. Way to go Egor

Abi was his response to the question misinterpreted?

  5. What I see there is ‘hardly’ not that he doesn’t watch Nollywood movies at all. and even if he doesn’t watch Nollywood movies at all, is that not his business.

  6. Egor is 100% right Kunle is a tribalistic mumu.He learnt from Tunde kelani.
Igbo producers do films and give lead roles to Yorubas such as Olu Jacob, Segun Arinze.
No Yoruba has ever given lead role to an Igbo that is the reason why they are hungry.
He should not watch they are going places.

    1. What the fuck are you even saying. Kunle mostly came from the yorubahood side of nollywood where they speak Yoruba in the movies. Tell me how an igbo will speak Yoruba in a Yoruba movie
Your igbo speaking movies do you see Yoruba actors there. Why must you bring tribe there.
His October 1 movie was loosely based in a Yoruba setting town with even some Yoruba spoken there. Will the lead now be an igbo non speaking Yoruba person
Your igbo producers are even more tribalistic asides omotola who do they cast. Except these new generation producers like Mo that include everyone.

  9. Kunle Afolayan statement was very wrong. He is a Nollywood filmmaker who hardly watch Nollywood movies; but, he wants other Nigerians to line up at the cinema for his movies.

Kunle makes great and outstanding movies but, uttering such words in an interview was very wrong of him.

I laugh at people who always claim to watch anything international but Nigerian and most of them are business people with their target market being Nigerians. Later, they will be the ones complaining about the government and what not.

  10. This Egor is a fool! He said he “hardly” watches... hardly is the word here. Who told you he didn’t watch the movies produced by Zeb Ejiro, Tunde Kelani and the host of others you just mentioned? The veteran producers she mentioned up there produced great movies that shot Nollywood into limelight. Instead of her to take correction and stop producing shitty movies She’s busy dragging them into her mess for solidarity purpose. Madam Egor you are alone on this one. Till you guys stop with those wishy-washy movies you pump into the market, we will “hardly” watch Nollywood movies!

    1. Hey. Why are you abusing Egor? For a movie producer to say he ‘hardly’ watches...? Look up the meaning of the word and you will find out it’ means little or nothing in this context. It is wrong for him to say that for his own industry. I never used to like watching Nollywood but lately I started and I must say there are some really cool actors onboard. They have greatly improved. Meanwhile he was the one that complained he was going to relocate cos people were not patronising Nollywood films. If everyone boycotts his movies, will he like it? Stop shouting and understand why she told him off. He truly deserved it.

    2. even if he hardly watches that is bad enough, he now said they dont challenmge him. that is a direct shade at all the film makers. sometimes i wonder if these people dont have PR that tell them what is off limits. he could have said i dont watch nolly#wood movies a#that often as i like science fiction which we dont really do yet, or something else. he just does not have sense. #BADPR but me i dont know why she was calling all those names lol

    3. Egor didn't say anything wrong, Kunle dont have any right to say that rubbish in an interview.
Look at Genevieve, when interviewed didn't you see the way she answers questions, That is how it should be, not the other way round. So we all should stop watching Nigeria movies then.

    4. Anon 10:57 what is the difference between what you typed up there and what Kunle said? “I hardly watch Nollywood movies” and “I don’t watch Nollywood movies that often” don’t you see how confused you are? Abeg make una free the guy!

  13. I will support Kunle Afolayan on this one. How many of the movies that we watch in the cinemas should actually be there? A good film-maker looks for ways to improve his/her craft. Egor, hush

  15. I really don't think Kunle said anything wrong sha. He spoke the truth! A whole lot of Nigerians say they dont watch Nollywood movies but doesn't mean they don't watch Yoruba movies or igbo movies or hausa movies. They are two different things. The ones where they speak purely igbo, hausa or Yoruba tell better stories and teach better morals. They are not about showing off houses and fashion or flashy cars with no content. And if he doesn't watch Nollywood, thats his business! Madam Egor you go and work on bettering your craft and stop being overly sensitive and also stop seeking unnecessary attention. When your superiors talk you shut up. Its people like you who make it difficult to work with women with this your entitled mentality! Did he say anything about the likes of Kelani, the Ejiros etc? Thats all you! Pot-steering Woman!

    1. God bless you Anonymous 10:37, people will only hear a side of a story and decide to conclude. I cant even believe a clean, cool, scandal free, hardworking person like Kunle Afolayan will be bashed so much online by people due to someone looking for cheap popularity.
Egor, hope ure content with you 5minutes of fame?

  16. Kunle Afolayan is truly an egomaniac cum tribalist. The only thing he does is to criticize and divide Nollywood Industry.

If he's that good let him produce more movies like his English counterparts. I know many of y'all will say who them help.

Even MultiChoice can't utter dat word. Nollywood contributed so much to the 'Financial Growth and Appeal' of DSTV in Nigeria and Africa.

The same way Nigerian Telecommunication Industry changed the financial growth of MTN, that is how Nollywood/Football did to MultiChoice.

Remove the Nigerian Entertainment content from MultiChoice and see how it'll crash, love Nigeria and embrace Nigeria Kunle. Produce movies and stop talking like a market woman.

That is strictly biting the fingers that fed him.

If he's a Staff of Coca Cola let him open his mouth and say I hardly drink Coca Cola Soft Drinks.

He will be sacked in 30mins.
      Imagine Kunle of all people.

What is pumping him. He should go and think of how to feed his father's numerous wives and 36 children. They are crying for food.

      Egor did a good job.

  17. "Hardly" is the keyword and that he's keen on watching movies that will challenge him to do better; so I'm not seeing the crime he committed by saying such.
The Nollywood industry I'm sure pumps out close to 20 movies a month and how many of those movies are worth watching? A lot of the movies in the industry are packed with mediocrity and that is the truth! The great names you mentioned how many times do they release movies? If out of the countless number of movies produced in a year he chooses to watch maybe 20 of them based on the producers he looks up to, that qualifies as hardly watching Nigerian movies Madam Egor abi you want to tell me you watch all those mind numbing , IQ reducing movies that are a dime a dozen everywhere?
Unless you have another issue with Mr Afolayan please address it and allow him be because he hasn't said anything wrong. He wants to improve and horn his craft, upgrade his techniques and do better and he knows the right place to get the ideas he needs for it.
How do you think he has gotten to where he is?
You think Genevive did what she did by thinking local and watching those Asaba movies starring...? let me not mention names 😐
