The Nigeria Customs Service, Tin Can Island Command, on Friday announced that it had intercepted 11 40-foot containers and two 20-foot containers of Tramadol.
While announcing the seizure to journalists in Lagos, the Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of Enforcement, Austin Chidi, who represented the Comptroller-General, Col. Hameed Ali (retd.), listed other pharmaceutical products, including Ciprofloxacin capsules, Diclofenac sodium tablets, Soffeathe I.V cannula, Sildenfil citrate tablets among the drugs seized.
He put the value of the total items, including bleaching soaps and used clothing at N3.13bn.
This is the third consecutive seizure of Tramadol recorded within one week between Wednesday, November 21 and Friday, November 23.

*Does Tramadol have any health benefit?
They want to kukuma destroy the youths o
ReplyDeleteYes, it has lots of health benefits except that it is abused by gullible Nigerians.
ReplyDeleteNigerians and their evil ways always looking for ill gotten wealth. If care is not taking by the time all this dangerous drug is introduce to the equation of what is happening in the country, both the privilege and the unprivileged one will reap the brutal result.
ReplyDeleteTramadol is a non opiate pain killer that works or imitatates opiates at the same receptor sites (location) in the brain as opiates like morphine, Norco etc. it’s danger in Nigeria in my opinion is either in the dose or purity. It’s not even considered strong in pain management here at the regular dose of 50 mg to max of about 320mg per day. However if it is laced with powdered fentanyl or other more potent real opiates, it becomes very deadly. If it is used in very high doses as well, it can cause seizures and eventually kill the patient.
ReplyDeleteThe same warning applies to weed and metamphetamine consumers to be careful as dealers are lacing some batches with powdered fentanyl. Fentanyl is usually used as patches because oral consumption is immediate death but greed drives suppliers of all these addictive medications so I implore our youths to stay away from all these addictive medications. It’s misleading to conclude with the tramadol cases in Nigeria as it is considered a mild alternative at normal doses to more addictive meds like OxyContin here so it was not even on the controlled substances list until about 6 years ago in the USA and even then it’s a schedule 5 medication not 2 like Norco and OxyContin. I’m suprised at the news of what tramadol is doing in Nigeria. It’s likely not pure or it’s being produced in very high doses.tramadol isn’t even an opiate medication.
The only benefit is highness I guess
ReplyDeleteIt’s a “ downer” at normal doses so something is wrong with the dosing in Nigeria if it makes you high at regular dose. I hear the dose sold in Nigeria is 200mg per tablet. That’s wrong. The usual dose is 50mg per tablet. Nafdac needs to review the amount per tablet. Downers only produce a high when used in abnormally large doses. Adulteration with highly potent fentanyl cannot be ruled out.
ReplyDeleteYour way of explaining all in this post is reallpy good, every onne can easily knopw it,
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot.
