    1. Me and you get the same blood oh. You are free to fall in love with anybody Biko. I bless GOD because my husband is the same blood group and genotype with me, so I already know my children's blood group and genotype before going for tests (our marriage is made in heaven 😀😁🙄🙄)💃💃 LMAO

    2. Nigerians and mediocrity... Why feeling lucky cos of AA?. AS as a genotype is far superior than AA.AS are immuned against malaria and hardly fall sick. Being AS is not a death sentence and so, their is nothing bad in being AS.

The only difficulty is 2 AS getting married. Solutions are abound now, depending on d choice of couples. Couples are meant to sit, talk and weigh their options. If it is worth it ,it is left to them, if not, dey can go their ways with no malice..

People should stop stereotyping AS as if it was a form of badluck.

We share same genotype and blood group so I was never bothered.
      Hubby is AS

  3. Some will read this and still go ahead to marry someone whose genotype is incompatible with theirs all in the name of love. And they'll say they are backing it up with prayer and fasting, so that AS will change to AA. Years later they'll come and ask Stella and bvs for advice.

    1. Malaria is the only downside to being an AA. I know this cos my entire family (husby's as well) is in the same boat.

    4. I am the only exception. I have not had malaria in the past 15yrs. I hardly fall sick. I only go to the hospital to give birth. In fact, before I got married and started having kids, I only fell sick once since I became an adult. I pray my kids have the same immune system. Hubby is AA too, but he is always treating malaria.

    6. Anon 13:23...ask your mum, probably u were being sick as a cilhd but outgrew it.
Some, it happens during childhood, for some others, in their adult age but I don't think it runs all through.

We all are AA in my house, my immediate elder bro was always sick all through his 6 years in secondary school. By the time e clocked 18, everything disappeared.
Mine started as soon as I got admission and ran all through my first and second years in the university.

I sill thave bouts of malaria, fever and headaches once in a while.

So probably u had yours when u were still little.

  5. My boyfriend asked we go and do full medical together blood group, genotype, hiv and hepatitis.
I found it offensive at first but it was cursing serious issues between us; no sex for months etc.
So we went for the test last week. I'm AA and he's AS. And other results are clear.

  6. My cousin is AA+SS ( she is SS, husband AA) but a great miracle happened, she has 2 children , both are AA.
Many people dont believe it. She birthed her kids in the US, before you start saying the test was false.

    1. Let her just stay on those two kids.

    2. Lies, there's no way the kids can be AA. Story tellers!

    3. Oh and God cannot give them a miracle

    4. Its possible cause i and my brother are AA. B+ and O+ respectivly and birthed by parents who are both AS. They however stopped with just two kids.

    5. Honey abeg stopit! Test in the us can be false!
There is no way her kids will be both AA, except she is not SS!

      Delete
    6. @ego yours is possible because both parents are AS .
For every child, each parent must give one Gene, either A or S. In your case both parents gave A each twice. For the poster of AA and SS, it's no way possible!!!!!

    7. @Crazyhornywife you do have a point. But hey, miracles happen so does IVF which could have allowed the couple oppurtunity to select preferred genotype. I guess they just need to tell people the truth.

    8. I beg ur cousin should tell u guys where she got those AA kids. Maybe na donor egg ivf wey she do. Coming now to form miracle.

    9. the Lab that tested your cousin in naija made a mistake and at some point C gene was always thought to be A in naija. Sorry I’m too tired tonight to start explaining. Madam accusing her hubby of lying that he’s AA blame the lab

  7. I’m AC and my husband is AA. Anytime I tell people I’m AC they laugh and ask what’s AC. But it’s always been AC since I was a kid. My parents both claim AA till date so we dunno where the C and S came from. We have 2 AC , 1 AS and 1 AA in my family. Aren’t we lucky. When I got pregnant my doctor asked for my hubbys genotype after finding out I’m AC. I told him AA and he said no problem then.

  8. How about SC, CC??

  9. I am AA, hubby told me he is AA. Only to find out later after given birh in the USA that my baby has traces of sickle cell. I told hubby and insisted he is AA i back to Naija and did another test for my and baby again. My baby AS and me AA hubby AS. I cried and accused hubby of telling me lies.

    1. Does AS mean the baby has traces of sickle cell? I don't think so he is just a carrier. Which means he can't marry AS. Shikena
Me that is AA and always visiting hospital treating malaria nko.
I can have a whole year I won't be sick. Then the next year every 3months I must visit hospital.
I'm already used to it. Thankfully it is never serious. I havnt even been admitted in hospital for like 15yrs.

      Delete
    2. Why are u crying?
Ohh...u wanted to marry an AA man?. OK sorry oo. Mtcheww

    3. Since being AS is now a crime, I guess you should stick with having d only child you have!
To educate you , if your child has sickle cell trait doesnt mean they have the disease, you will only have to educate your child about the importance of having AS.

  12. That's how my fellow amebo SIL asked her fellow celeb friend why her marriage crashed. Babe said her baby turned out AS after a blood transfusion ma ni o! Meanwhile, she and hubby are AA. I laughed in Swahili. My SIL turned to me and screamed "Men!!". Me sef shouted "Okokobioko". We certainly had fun on the ride back home discussing 'heartless husbands'. Na today breast begin get nipple? Hian!

  14. This malaria you ppl complain about AA, I dont understand it because my whole extended family and also my hubby are AA but we HAVE NEVER EVER HAD MALARIA. The only sickness I know is just stomach ache that is why the only medicine I can identify in this my adult life is vitamin C and jelocin. My dad is one lucky human being I have ever known when it comes to children being admitted in the hospital. I keep praying to be as lucky as my parents when it comes to children falling sick because they have never experienced sickness beyond paracetamol which cures everything for my siblings. So help me God

  16. Wrong wrong wrong analysis. The chances of each of these outcomes is a probability, not an absolute. To break it down, AS and AS have a 25% chance of birthing an AA, a 25% chance of birthing SS and a 50% chance of an AS per each birth. It is the chance of it occurring in every single birth. It doesn't mean if they had 4 children 1 will be AA, another SS and two AS. What happens when they have only one or two?

As per the probability thing, they may be lucky to have all AA in four births, or unlucky to have only SS in even 10 births. It's a probability, it's a chance. it's like throwing a dice up 10 times and even though there's a 50% chance of a head or a tail every single time, you somehow got 5 heads in 5 tries.

It's important to highlight this because some people would still plunge into this thinking well, 3 non SS kids out of 4 is not a bad bargain. Well, it's not that clear cut. You may be fortunate or you may be very unfortunate with each try.
