Embassy Says US Did Not Grant PDP Presidential Candidate Visa Because He Did Not Apply For One

Contrary to reports that the United States has granted visa to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, after 13 years ban, news INDEPENDENT authoritatively reports that he was never given visa.

An embassy source told the news agency that U.S. position on Atiku has not changed.
A family source confirmed to news agency that Atiku only traveled to the UK and is also back in the country.

The family source said Atiku did not even apply for visa from the U.S. embassy as reported in the week.

The Federal Government fearing that the U.S. wanted to grant Atiku visa had cautioned that it would mean endorsing him for the 2019 election.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, gave the government position at an interactive session with media executives in Abuja on Thursday.

Mohammed had said that the government was aware of the move by the former Vice President to lobby the U.S. to lift the visa ban imposed on him.
He said, while the U.S. has the prerogative of whom to issue visa, it should be mindful of the timing, in order not to give the impression that Atiku has been endorsed by the U.S. government.

“We understand and appreciate the fact that it is the prerogative of the U.S. to grant a visa to anyone who applies.

    2. If he does goes to US, he might be arrested for the bribing case. I don't think there is immunity for him as a President candidate. He better stays in Nigeria if he loves himself because US don't play that game.

This man isn't going anywhere in his obsession to loot Nigeria dry. He will lose the "erection" and end up in the courts till the next one. Few months to the next one (if God keep all alive), he will jump back to the ruling party or form his own party. Na so he go dey perambulate.

  6. He was granted but his safety is not guaranteed as he would be arrested. Hence the denial. It’s better to claim he didn’t apply

    1. Who is deceiving Who? Of course he applied. It's good for his chances that he is able to debunk this US no visa ban. Unfortunately...US doesn't joke. Atikulators can be ok with UK for now. Their man is guilty as charged

    2. If Atiku is wanted by the US and stepped into the UK, he would have been arrested in the UK and extradited to the US. That didn’t happen. Atiku is innocent until proven guilty.

  9. But can I just ask us all a question? How does Atiku's US visa put food on your tables or put money in your pockets? Why is his getting a US visa or not affect his chances of getting elected ? How does it make him a good leader or has Bubu not been travelling and has that made him a better leader? Please Nigerians, wake up from your slumber. Why are we thinking like this?
