Saturday In House Gists - Worst Gift You Received At Christmas

As we slowly countdown to Christmas of 2018,lets go down memory lane to other Christmas' and the worst gift we ever received...or was it a no gift situation? That's even worse!!!

The Worst Christmas gift I ever received was from the Mother of the first person I ever crushed on......We were travelling home for Christmas that year,it was the first time we were going to my Father's Village and then she came over to the hired Bus i was in and gave me a wrapped gift...I almost fainted with shock and excitement....

The wrapped gift turned out to be Material to make something,I was so disappointed cos i was not allowed to collect such things...I hid that material for years in the house (from one hiding place to another) until i worked briefly with an Uncle, got paid and brought it out as something i bought.

I t was so stressful that i kept wishing i had never been gifted it.........

After i made a wrap Indian skirt with it,wore it for a month and someone stole it when i washed it and hung it out to dry!!..LOL

  5. I remember one Christmas like that how I went out very late to look for a gift for my darling ex boify. He was visiting the next day. Shops were closed but I never gave up. Finally saw one and bought a very quality Tie and wrapped it. Next day I gave it to him same day we broke up cos something played out. So my worst gift was a sad break up.
Surprisingly the guy who helped me select the tie where I bought it, he was also buying became my next boify. And my ex kept posting pictures with a girl like that wearing the Tie I gifted him. Apparently he liked it a lot cos he wore it in most pictures. I had to delete him cos it was annoying me remembering how I got that Tie.

  6. Growing up, we were not used to gifts, asides the anko that they will use one nylon material to sew for all of us. Lol
When I got into higher institution, that was when I started receiving gifts. Then after marriage, I used to get gifts every Christmas from family friends back then when my husband was still alive but after his death, none of those people even checked on us during Christmas to See how we were faring.
My Christmas remained gift-less until last Christmas when Stella surprised me with cash gift to celebrate with my children. God bless SDK.

  11. Well my worst Christmas gift came as a dirty slap.
When I was a child, during Christmas festival we used to walk around begging people for Christmas gift (Happy Christmas).
So I was going about as usual one Christmas begging for gbalum Christmas when I begged a Jehovah Witness guy unknowingly and the sadist landed my face with a dirty slap. I started crying and an elderly man that saw what happened came and held the demon asking him what I did and he explained that Christmas is against his believe onye Jehovah πŸ˜‚ and people started cursing him.

    10. I am one of Jehovah's witnesses, we don't celebrate Christmas but it was very wrong of that guy to slap you. There is nothing wrong in you asking innocently for a Christmas gift even if you had known and stil ask too, a polite I don't celebrate Christmas would have been just fine.Tagging all witness as sadist is same as saying all Nigerian youths are lazy.

Worst gift: Was given a bundle of lace fabric, though looks expensive I can't wear it. Not skin friendly at all. I dont like it, thinking of giving it out. Don't like the colour and texture.

  14. I will never forget that Christmas, a friend of my mum who had a wine shop gifted us a bottle of fruit wine and some packets of cabin biscuits for Christmas. My dad hid the wine in his box and refused us touching. Then the following day was Christmas eve. He and my mum had left for church and asked us to join later. My elder brother went into dad's room and dug out the wine, He balanced it on the table with a glass, when we begged for it, he demanded for some fried meat which we served him obediently with bended knees. He now remained small, like quarter of the content for us to share. we finished it went to church and came back. Around 2:am, my stomach started rumbling, I entered the toilet and saw my brother sitting on the floor. He had been purging too. my other siblings too joined us in the toilet. At a point, mum came to check what was going on as we kept flushing the toilet. We were too weak to talk. We all landed in the hospital.. We did not even suspect the wine until it was proven to be an expired wine. The woman gifted us an expired fruit wine from her shelf for Christmas. that was what cut their friendship

  17. The worst gift I received for Christmas was a pair of gold earrings from a toaster. My very first gold.
I was still in school, my friends advised me to sell them as my parents would question where I got them from, I refused, I told them I would not wear them at home.
School resumed, I started wearing my gold earrings in school every day. One evening, as I was returning to class from the cafeteria with my friends, three guys stopped us, asked us to kneel down and empty our bags on the ground, one of them asked where a small girl like me got gold from, as I was about to open my mouth, he just used his two hands to pull tear the earrings away from my ears. I felt the sharp pain. I was so scared. They now warned me to behave myself. They collected all our phones and little cash. I nursed the wounds on my ears quietly and couldn't go home at month end like I used to do. The wounds got infected and septic, I suffered o.

  19. My worst Christmas gift was given on the 10th of December 2005; SOSOLISO PLANE CRASH. We were at a Christmas party having the time of our life when we got the news. Though I was little and didn't loose anyone but the sight of crying mothesr and fathers ruined Christmas that year. 13yrs now and I still remember that day.

  20. Last Christmas someone told hubby his family have a gift for us. We were surprised and happy too. So we bought some really good things we knew their kids love (we usually buy for the kids),but this time we bought cartons.
We didn't want to just receive their gift without giving them something in return.

We were given a hamper, hubby thanked them very well and infact danced with the hamper just to show appreciation. When we got home we realised the cheapest things ever, were packed in the hamper. Most of the things we can't buy and can't eat,we know this family too well, they can't eat most of them either.

We were both so angry,we just concluded the hamper was gifted to the family and they transferred it to us. The most annoying part is them giving us something we are sure they can't use.

I planned returning a 5k hamper this Christmas. Lol. But the ones i see are alot better than that. Hubby said he knows I'm not that kind of vindictive person, that I should let it go. I have, tho not easy

  24. That particular year, I had finished with my secondary school, and towards Christmas, my frnds showed me, what their parent got them, as per Senior girl, I became so eager to see what my own father will buy for me. It was around October or so, I went to meet my dad, and this was our conversation
Laide: Daddy, Daddy, do you that u are the best father
Dad: wow thanks for the compliment
Laide: Dad, u know am a big girl now and most of my frnds whose dad aren't as fine as u, bought them fine fine gift ( change my face to a sad one), but I haven't gotten any from you
Dad: Don't be sad, I have plans towards that, I want to surprise you and but it seems u already know abt it now. just watch out for own amazing gift my beautiful daughter.
Laide: thanks dad, u are d best.( I ran out of his room, excited)
When ever dad returns from work, I was very fast to collect his bad, hoping for him to say, Laide ur gift is here. Lo and behold he never said so and even does as if he has forgotten our conversation. Weeks turned into a month and yet, no sign of gift.
Dec 24, dad called up the whole family, and said we must all get gift cos we are all going to exchange it on Xmas night. I was happy, my dad picked me and my mother picked my brother. Alas it was Xmas day, and all I could get was a brush and shaving stick wrapped and so I longed for Xmas night but it was very slow and I kept on checking the time until I slept off and only to be woken by my brother, that's it's time, I woke up and d whole family were waiting to receive me, I could see wrapped gift in every ones hand so, my dad started his boring speech and it was time to exchange, my dad said:
Dad: You made me proud in everything u do and this is my token gift for u, as u said u are a big girl.
I hurriedly rushed at him, fave home mine and I collected his, so as mum and brother did. I saw the portable gift handed over to me, I was over excited and immediately I removed the wraps, I saw a pack with the inscription/ drawing of a Motorola phone, I jumped and ran to embrace my dad without opening it, when I got to my seat, i brought out the phone, fix it and press the ON button, only to discover, it was a BLACK and WHITE SCREEN(most of us will still remember that flat motorolla phone during 2009/2010), the world on the screen where in LARGE font, I told my dad of my discoveries, he said, he bought the phone cos as a big girl, I will need monitoring when sent on erands. it was as if I should throw the phone back at him. I smile and sluggishly went into my room and cry till I slept off. Since then, my expectations towards gift change.
