Atiku Backs Out Of Presidential Debate Because Of Buhari's Absence ....

PDP Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar refused to take part in the Presidential debate that held on Saturday because Mohammdu Buhari, the President of Nigeria did not attend....

Atiku tendered his apology and challenged Buhari to name another venue, time and date...

He tweeted his apology..

''We came here for a Presidential debate, not a candidacy debate, and I, Atiku Abubakar cannot challenge or question an administration where the man at the helm of the affairs of the nation is not present to defend himself or his policies. #2019Debate

Afterall, you cannot shave a man's head in his absence. I do not believe in attacking a man who is NOT here to defend himself.

As a leader and former vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, let me first apologise to all Nigerians, my fellow candidates and the moderator for the APC Presidential Candidate’s absence in this debate. His non-appearance is a slight on ALL of us and our democracy. With respect to my fellow candidates, Fela Durotoye, Oby Ezekwesili, Kingsley Moghalu and to moderator Mark Sugar and with apologies to Nigerians here and at home expecting an interesting debate, I regret I will not be able to go on with this debate due to President Buhari's absence.

I however challenge President Buhari to choose a date and time for a debate where he will be present and I will be there, hopefully with the other candidates as well.
Thank you and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Atiku Abubakar''

*See how these people are playing mind games with Nigerians!....Why will the President not attend the debate if he is running again? And will will Atiku refuse to take part?

    1. Even if APC tries to rig the election, the numbers won't add up...they are very bad at maths just like the case of Osun State. Did you hear the warning shots fired already by the America Congress man should in case the election is being rigged? The world are watching. This is a battle of the generals don't forget.

    2. Warning shots indeed! America congress my foot. He should face his country currently undergoing government shut down. America is a country known for only causing crisis in other countries
Please make your point without involving them. Even if the election is rigged in Buhari's favour, your American congress man can do jack about it.

    3. The world is watching not ARE watching. And stop being petty about fake "warning shots fired" in your illusion. Yes, the debate has come and gone. People were expecting the President to be there but there were enough indications that he wasn’t going to be there. He and his campaign team excused themselves because they went for their rallies in Niger and Plateau. The second biggest contestant for the highest position in the country is Atiku. All his supporters shouting Atikulate and how he will atikulate at the Debate. He came, greeted other candidates vying for the position as him and later left the venue. Why? Because the president didn’t come for the debate. He went ahead to shamelessly justify why he didn’t participate. The main reason for his withdrawal was because the president wasn’t there for him (Atiku) to question, attack and challenge his government. He apologized to other candidates who participated for his withdrawal. Whoever advised him to withdraw or do a PR by showing himself at the venue of the debate and turning away did him a big disservice. Was the debate an avenue for him to attack and challenge the President or for him, through questions and grilling, to tell Nigerians why he is the better candidate and why he should be voted in as the next president? He did not only insult Nigerians with his tweets, but also disregarded the other candidates who, in his opinion, sees them as unworthy to be on the same platform with him and insult to Nigerian democracy. To you Atiku supporters, that is the exact meaning of what your candidate did last night. At least, Buhari was with other Nigerians in Niger and Plateau campaigning for himself and party. Atiku did nothing yesterday except his tourist return from the US and insult to the Nigerian people.

    7. Sorry pathetic elladuchess. Please remove the duchess from your ID because it doesn’t match your comment. No one is excusing Buhari’s absence. However, Buhari would make a stronger argument than Atiku because he was in the presence of millions of Nigerians in Niger and Plateau campaigning for himself. Tell me what Atiku did. He showed himself at the venue then left. Reason? Buhari was absent. He needed to challenge and attack him. Does that make sense at all? He had the platform to tell us what he stands for but misplaced it.
Sorry, you don’t vote Atiku or Buhari won’t change the fact that one of them will be your next president. It is not issue of property of Northern people. Obj and Goodluck ruled a combined period of 14 years. That is, since our democratic dispensation starting 1999. They are southerners. So it is not out of place for a northerner to rule now and later.

Is Atiku selling himself to Buhari or to the electorate that will vote for him? Shame on the two of them. 1. So what if Atiku questions were meant for 'Buhari'? How would he has gone about it? The other candidates aren't Atiku worries or problems, he knows fully well the person he wants to challenge. His being there was to challenge the policies of this administration that has left the nation more terrible than they met it. Kingsley Maughalu, Duro and Oby Ezekwesili can't answer the question. So it is pointless.

At least, the president was in Niger and Plateau campaigning yesterday. What did Atiku do? Nothing! Came to the venue and disappeared. That is even worse than not showing up at all.

This is what APC had been planning for long, the plan is to ensure that buhari does not show up ,then BMO and other attack dogs of APC will now lunch massive attack on Atiku, but guess what it FAILED !!!, You all know that there stands an unwritten law in Nigeria, that the **Presidency** be rotated every 8 years between north and south, so Oby, Moghalu and others technically knocked themselves out before the contest began ( some may even be apc's mole to divide Atikus southern votes) . We are talking of the President of the world's most populous country (Nigerian ) , we asked him to come give us a summary of his administration for the past 4 years and what he wants to do in the next 4 year if WE give him the opportunity, but he decided to insult 200m Nigerians, you inclusive, by dodging the debate. 6. The blame should go to the impostor of a president running away from the press. I know he wasn't going to come seeing the disgraceful performance he put out on Wednesday at #TheCandidate. Atiku cut short his visit to the state to be in that program but the other man was no where to be found. I believe there were questions Atiku would have asked him if he was present. So nobody should blame Atiku decision. You and I know this election is between APC and PDP.

Quite understandable Kingsley Moughalu did very well in his speech but at the moment he doesn't stand the chance of winning considering the zoning operation which you and I knows too well favours the northern part. Atiku should just forget about the chicken liver man and concentrate on his campaign, we have seen their foolery. Good thing is that he has proven them wrong by taking the challenge they threw at him by entering United State. Now they can't accept his own challenge. Suddenly Festus Keyamo Otobo has gone silence. Confuse set of people deceiving themselves.

You came to sell your contract or project to people, you got on the stage and realised that your major competitor wasn't there, but your audience was there?a wise man would have used that opportunity to own the stage, but just like a typical Nigerian, Atiku kept his eyes only on the hater, instead of the prize.

There is never a time you stop selling yourself. Even after you cast your vote as a candidate, you sell yourself. Your last day of office you sell yourself. It's basic common sense.

Debates are to sell yourself as a candidate not to do fighter, fightee. That's what you have dogs everywhere for on Twitter, Facebook, Blogs, to do the dirty work for you.

For you to attend a debate and then leave because the incumbent president is not present is a slap on the face of every other candidate there.
You are simply saying other candidates are not worthy of your time.
It speaks of your ego, your attitude and your IQ.

If he wants a one on one with Buhari, he should request for one, simple.

    1. I have been silent about political discussions for close to a week now. I lost hope in it all for a reason I will write about tomorrow. I had wanted to shun political write-ups till after General elections. I was tempted to come back to it two days ago when Atiku's American visit trended. I struggled to remain silent. But when I read that PMB shunned the Presidential debate I was extremely happy and excited. It proves beyond doubt that PMB has really learnt a good lesson from his previous appearances in presidential debates. It will also increase the wailing factors of the PDP. They need to be paid back in their own coins.

Since return of democracy in 1999, the PDP has boycotted SIX presidential debates despite PMB and other aspirants honouring it. I wanted to sit back and laugh at PDP supporters wailing, lamenting bitterly and gnashing their teeth in 'sifia pains' over Buhari's absence because they desperately need his presence to dignify their candidate on the podium of discussion, just the way He needed their candidates in past debates and they ensured they deprived him of it. God bless those who advised Buhari to make the PDP have a taste of the bitterness of their own pill!

    3. Buhari has participated in presidential debates for THREE consecutive election seasons.

PDP has NEVER participated in any presidential elections before. Who is afraid of debates?

Buhari lost elections despite participating in debates THREE times. Debate doesn't determine voting outcome in Nigeria of today and that is why the PDP has NEVER participated in any and still won elections. That's why Buhari won when He stopped participating in it.

Buhari has used his participation in three debates to discover Nigerian electorates are not moved by debates, they are moved by Popularity of the candidates among them. Buhari has therefore worked on his popularity and again coasting home to victory next month.

Let the PDP also do debates for three political seasons to discover what moves Nigerian electorates. Unfortunately, they have lost it this year. They need the next 16 years to get opportunity for another three debates since they have failed to learn from Buhari's experience. In other words, PMB is 16 years ahead of them in the knowledge of the political reality of Nigeria today.

    4. PDP candidate gave a rather ridiculous excuse for not participating. He said it is not 'Candidacy debate', it's 'Presidential debate' and therefore He won't debate without the President being there! Lol... He should be told the implied meaning of Presidential debate is 'Presidential Candidates debate'. What happens in situation where the incumbent is not contesting and all candidates are fresh? Does that change the name from Presidential debate to another thing? Lol...

In those three occasions where Buhari participated and the PDP failed to show up, the organisers never changed it to 'Candidacy debates' because they weren't grammatically disoriented! The PDP also failed to realise that Presidential debate is meant for candidates to sell their programmes to their audience and not to the incumbent president lol...

This is the first time in Nigeria's Political history that PDP could have participated in a presidential debate, yet they gave such a frivolous excuse that Buhari didn't come. What about those three occasions He came while you still absconded despite being in power?

Atiku needs the presidential debate far more than Buhari now. Buhari doesn't need it to win. Atiku needs it more except the PDP is afraid of Oby Ezekwezili that has been looking for a close avenue to strip them of the remnants of their past glory.

To Atikulooters who might want to say PMB is running away from debate, first tell us why your party has never honoured any debate in the past and only desperate to debate only PMB now. Look at the scorecard below:

      Buhari in debate = 3/5
      PDP in debate = 0/6

We then ask, Who is afraid of debates?

  27. Come to think of it, Why would Mr President Chicken out of a debate that has been scheduled of which he is aware? Other contestants also have campaigns to do but were able to make out time for it. Why should Mr Presido be absent then? I am beginning to believe the rumour that He is Jubril of Sudan, and that he doesn't get close to people that knows PMB too well. I am not atikulaying, neither am I Said babaring.
