Tales Of A Libyan Returnee -11

We continue reading the story of a woman who went to Libya for greener pastures and had the most horrifying story to tell.....OMG!!!

I moved in with my Libyan boyfriend during the absence of my roommates, he instructed I stay indoor but I needed to save for the arrival of my baby. I reduced my work to just cleaning for 2 families, I registered for ante-natal and my Gynaecologist; Dr. Hanan took special care of me.

Everything returned back to normal until a major fight broke out in Quasar Benghashir, I was 8 months pregnant when this fight started and it was so intense that our house kept vibrating; the UN intervened and there was cease fire, but the damage was done already, my BP became high and my baby was at risk, my doctor advised rest and that prompted my decision to quit my job.

I decided to stay back and enjoy my rest, all I did was eat and sleep and go for check up, during one of my check-ups, my doctor said the baby's heartbeat was dropping and I was booked for emergency CS, I went back home, called my friend and inform my boyfriend of the situation.

My friend arrived and we went to hospital with baby things, I was admitted and my boyfriend signed the consent form, I started having second thoughts and I felt letting the baby die was the best option. I told my friend about my fears and she encouraged me to go ahead with it.

I was prepared for surgery at about 9:30pm, the anaesthesia given kicked in almost immediately. I laid down and was wondering what the new phase in my life would look like, I remembered my dreams of going to school, running a big NGO, living a happy life, etc. I kept on fantasising about everything till I heard the cry of my Son, he was looking pale and fragile, I had no emotions at all and kept wondering if I could handle such responsibility of being a mother, the operation was successful and I was moved to my ward.

I woke up the following and my friends were already in the hospital, post operation pains kicked in and it was difficult to move about, my friends volunteered to wheel me to children's ward but I couldn't bear to see him yet.
My boyfriend came and we went to his ward together, he was sleeping so innocently and all I could do was smile, we played with him till I got tired, I went back to my ward and my bills were paid, I told my doctor to discharge me but she declined stating medical reasons, after much persuasion we were discharged the 3rd day after signing a form.

I called everyone and informed them of the arrival of my son. Our house was filled with friends and well wishers, lots of material and cash gifts came in and the love was amazing, my friend lived with me for 7days, she was responsible for bathing the baby and massaging me, I kept looking at how she handled everything. In a Jiffy, I learnt how to bathe, massage and feed a new born. My life had changed and I was responsible for another person's welfare. I quickly adapted to the changes and it felt easy to handle.

We quickly organised a low-key naming ceremony and I named my son with the name of a King......

  14. You are one hell of a strong woman. With stories like yours one becomes grateful irrespective of what one is going through.

I dare to say you have a calling in this area. So many girls are trapped for life, world over. It takes someone with a first hand experience to know how it feels and how to go about it passionately. Dont limit yourself, start penetrating UNICEF, UN et al. Get a copyright for your stories, who knows someone may pick you up.

    God be with you.

    Kisses to your son. 💋💋💋💕💕💕💖💖💖💖💖💖❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤💙💙💙💙💙💙💜💜💜💜💜💜💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💟💟💟💟💟💟💚💚💚💚💚💚💞💞💞💞💞💝💝💝💝💝💝💝

  17. The story was rushed at the end just like most Nollywood movies. You were not detailed, after the birth, how did you decide to come back? What year did you come back? How did you cope when you came back? your family in Nigeria? So many blanks and unanswered questions. In all glad you can tell your story and be safe out there.

  24. Dear poster, thank God you birthed your son successfully. Would have loved to know more like how you came back, the state of your son et al. Anyway, please if you need assistance or volunteer on creating an awareness on this issue please let me know, although I don't run an NGO or know any top govt official but I believe you should do something about this but still in case you need support of volunteers or whatsoever, you can reply.
