Tales Of A Libyan Returnee -Part 10

A Libyan returnee continues with telling her shocking story....Read the other parts HERE.....

My pregnancy hormones were high and everything kept pushing me to escape, it was drizzling outside so I stepped in and requested for duvet, I was ushered into a room and I slightly closed the door, I started praying and asked God to please show direct my steps, I wouldn't spend any more night with my abductors I told myself...

The rain became heavy and everyone was happy, it hardly rains in Libya so it was worth jubilating over, my door was opened and most people plugged their phones in that room and went out. It was dinner time and they all ate to satisfaction, the rain became heavier and I requested for another duvet, I bade them goodnight and closed the door, immediately after closing the door, I opened the window, stole a Nokia phone and jumped out, I started running till I got to the fence, I jumped a fence with pregnancy and till date I don't understand where I got the strength from...

I kept running till I got to the main road, I was tired and the rain became heavier, I kept running until my legs couldn't move, I tried to stop cars but they wouldn't stop because it was late and dark, I kept moving until one hilux parked by my side, I told them my story and they asked me to enter, they drove me to the nearest police station because they felt I escaped from the prison but the Officers denied knowing me and we left the place, unfortunately the phone I stole started ringing, the driver collected the phone and they spoke with my abductors, those bastards lied that I stole from them and left the house, I kept shouting they kidnapped my sisters and sold them into prostitution and they were planning to sell me as well.

I told the Arabs I am pregnant and they should let me call my family, I called my number instantly and no one picked, I sent a text message and they called back, I told my roommate's sister to send me my boyfriend's number which she did instantly. I called him and handed the phone over to them, he told them I was his wife and explained I was kidnapped, they told him to bring 1000 dinars to free me, he pleaded with them to wait till the following day since it was past 10pm already.

After driving for about 1 hour, the Arabs said they will let me go if I give them blow-job, without thinking twice, I gave both of them BJ and they drove me to a fruit-stand to sleep.

After their departure, I stood up and change location because I don't trust them not to return. I located a house, I sneaked in and slept under the staircase.
The call for prayer from the nearest mosque woke me the following morning, I quickly stood up, and started walking, the street was still empty but the few people that saw me felt I was mad because my clothes were dirty and I had no shoes, I boarded a taxi and he dropped me at Shargia after like 1hr ride, I gave him the 20dinars I had with me and I walked down to our house without shoes.

I knocked for more than 5mins before the entrance was opened, there was shouts of Jubilation until I told them my friends were already sold into prostitution, we needed to raise money and track them down. It took us 1 month and 18 days to locate my roommates in a brothel run by a Benin Woman, she collected the sum of 8000 dinars before they were released to us......

  6. I know a lot of enlightenment is going on as regards the horrors that lie in libya moreso Human trafficking, prostution and illegal migration. I feel more can still be done, celebrities can take up the campaign and speak out. Moviemakers can a movie out of this just to create awareness. If we don't tell our story no one else will

Poster I'm lost for words at this point, sometimes I wish this narrative is just a bad dream that would go away, sadly it's not. This is someone's experience. I know a couple of folks that went through this same route but their ordeal is nothing close to yours.

I truly wish you heal completely and please continue to tell this story maybe a few would listen

    Bless your soul

    1. Yes o, with the chapters I have read, I just felt movie makers can do more, atleast all these Asaba movies for they are they easiest way to reach the masses, they really need to touch the hearts and minds of people so they will know that any uncle or aunty that tries to deceive them is only doing it for their own gain

If you ask me this thing don dey happen since the days of Kunta Kinte

  8. The Arabs played their part. But the did perfectly with the collaboration of Nigerians. And for that their own hell would begin on earth.

  10. OMG...... This is heartbreaking and horrible
Just one person went through all these ordeals
God loves you so much, why you survived
Some didn't face up to this and are dead.

May you find the needed closure....Imagining all the nightmares. I just pray Abike Dabiri can read all this and take it up from here. So many victims still out there.

    1. Abike Dabiri is aware

She is already doing something about it. They have been repatriating Nigerians from Libya for a while but the challenge is, some Nigerians prefer not to come home.

To seek justice in that country will be difficult because of the breakdown of law and order, discrimination against the black skin, the collaboration between the Arabs and Nigerians in perpetrating crime there.

    4. @King XoXo mystery, you are right. Since the Slave trade Saga they have been repatriating Nigerians back home, thousands are still trapped in prisons while hundreds are still planning to go back in. I just wish there's a way to put an end to this madness and all the human traffickers are brought to book.
The main reason I decided to pen my story down is to seek for sanity, help and discourage other youths. I would appreciate the psychosocial support talked about because as it is I don't love myself and my son the way I should, I want to stop having nightmares everynight, I want to have friends and be the happy girl I used to be, i want to stop been ashamed to hold my head high, as education seem impossible now, I want to venture into business, take care of my Son and love him the way every mother should.

Please you need to love your son and forgive yourself. Despite how challenging it is, try and make new friends, with time those memories will fade. May God bless and continue to keep you.

  13. Poster, keep telling your story, it will make a difference one way or the other, I saw a comment of a lady saying she is skinny and ugly and looks like a man so she will go amd won't be raped. My dear, advice yourself, even prostitutes in Nigeria have a better deal than those at the mercy of Arabs in Libya.

Go to Europe if you must but avoid any place where there is a breakdown of law and order, without social conditioning in place, humans can be worse than animals

  19. nawa in this twenty first century they are still selling people and stuff, I just feel so bad for the girl child , I feel so sad that we are so vulnerable yet little or nothing is being done to protect us. Even as we read now one young girl somewhere is happy that her aunt is helping her to travel to Europe in search of greener pastures without knowing what awaits her. My dear thank God you are back and a life , there is always light at the end of the tunnel .
