Landlord Arraigned For Reportedly Stealing Tenant’s Jewellery And Cash...

A 35-year-old landlord, Sunday Sorinola, has appeared before an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing jewellery worth N1.8 million and cash of his tenant.





The accused, who resides near Coppers Bus Stop, Adigbe, Mango area, Abeokuta, and was docked on Friday is facing one count charge of stealing.


The Prosecutor, Insp. Mattew Famuyiwa, told the court that the Soriola committed the offence on Oct. 11, 2018, at about 8.15p.m at Adigbe area in Abeokuta...The accused broke into the room of the complainant, his tenant, and stole gold jewellery worth N1.8 million and cash amount of N562, 850.


According to the prosecutor, the complainant left her apartment to purchase recharge card for her mobile phone.
“Before she returned the accused had broke into her room and stole the items,” the prosecutor said.
He said that after the incident, the complainant reported the matter at Adigbe Police Station after which the accused was apprehended.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.
The Magistrate, Mr Olalekan Oke, granted the accused bail of N600,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He, however, adjourned the case until Feb.5 for hearing.

*Why keep such amount of money and Jewelry in the house?Is there any proof that she had this money and Jewelry with her?This reports states no proof that the Landlord was caught red handed oh....Nigeria that Innocent people are Languishing in Jail because they are suspects while the real crooks walk free if they can afford it...

  1. thorough investigation should be carried out. why would somebody keep such amount and jewelries at home without locking it in safety box/cabinet

  2. They must have carried out investigation, checked the rooms in the compound and found the stolen items in the landlords apartment.

    Who goes to still at 8pm if not people who stays close.

    Its very possible to keep jewelry of such amount in the house because of the charges it saves, it doesn't mean its just one piece.

Stella this happened to my security she first claimed 35k later went back and claimed wristwatch, 5k phone our security slept in the prison for 4days you needed to see how sick he was looking when we got him out. Tears running down i had to hide my face so he doesnt feel bad. No investigation was carried no proof he was arrested twice the second time she went back and said it was not a theif anymore it was the security man thank God is alive the police system really needs a total overhaul innocent people accused wrongly every day God help us all.

  5. Na normal landlord tenant fight. The landlord decided to show tenant pepper and fell into tenants trap.
    Now, tenant can claim she parked Gwagon in her room. Lmaooo.
    Happened to my friend when she was in school, she broke in cos she was locked out , they now started claiming heaven and earth.
    They later went to say it was all lies tho, guess their conscience pricked them
