PDP Explodes Over INEC Shift In Presidential Elections And Reveals 'Real Reasons'

The accusations and counter accusations have started flying!!!!

National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, has said that shoddy arrangement for general election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, was a deliberate pre-determined agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari to cling on to power even when its obvious to him that Nigerians want him out.

Secondus, in a statement Saturday morning by his spokesman, Ike Abonyi, said that the postponement which is allegedly part of a grand design by the All Progressives Congress, APC, to thwart the will of Nigerians at all cost, clearly exposes INEC as a failure and calls on the Chairman of the Commission, Prof Mahmood Yakubu to resign immediately.

The PDP leader warned that the party will not accept anything short of a well organized electoral process devoid of manipulation, harassment and intimidation of voters and the opposition particularly members of the PDP.

“Having failed in all their nefarious options to enable them cling on to power, the APC and the INEC came up with the idea of shifting election an action that is dangerous to our democracy and unacceptable”, he said.

The National Chairman said that the APC in connivance with the INEC have been trying all options including but not limited to burning down INEC offices in some states and destroying of electoral materials to create artificial problems upon which to stand for their dubious act.

“With several of their rigging options failing, they have to force INEC to agree to a shift in the election or a staggered election with flimsy excuses pre manufactured for the purpose.

“For the avoidance of doubt the PDP sees this action as wicked and we are also aware of other dubious designs like the deployment of hooded security operatives who would be ruthless on the people ostensibly to scare them away.”

He said that by the development, the President has further demonstrated his insensitivity, as Nigerians, including those who came home from abroad, have all mobilized to their various constituencies.

The National Chairman recalled that the PDP had earlier alerted Nigerians that the APC was coming up with lined up rigging strategies including burning down of INEC offices and engineering crisis in PDP strong hold areas to scare away the people.

“Recall that the Governor of Kaduna state, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai had earlier threatened international election observers of going to their country in body bags and with the fatal violence in the state on the eve of election, it’s clear what the motives are, to frighten the observers from the state so that he can carry out his nefarious acts.”

The National Chairman also drew the attention of all lovers of democracy to the statement of President Buhari on the international media that nobody can unseat him from office as an indication of what he wants to do.

Prince Secondus further regretted that President Buhari, who made a promise at the signing of peace accord that the election will be conducted in a fair and transparent atmosphere, has allegedly gone ahead in breach of the peace agreements to send soldiers and other security agencies to arrest, harass and intimidate opponents in Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Kwara, Kano, Kaduna states.

  5. Imagining an APC neighbour who is one of the party leaders here in port harcourt telling me they knew this election will be shifted. In fact he categorically stated it that Amaechi is the brain behind it. He said they held meeting and were assured that INEC will be forced to include APC on the ballot box in Rivers state elections, even when the supreme court has overruled.

Remember they(APC) protested at the commission office two days ago threatening thunder and brimstone if their names aren't included on the ballot. No single one of them was arrested, rather the police escorted them to the commission's office. Would that privilege be given to PDP if it were to be them protesting? I believe by now most of them would have still be in prison custody. APC should stop trying so hard to score cheap points by blackmailing PDP.

    3. God punish you Anonymous 8:53. Wasn't it to have something different that made Nigerians vote APC in 2015? Everyday PDP this, PDP that! Didn't you guys promise change? If your 'change' still means doing it like you claim PDP did, you guys have no business in leadership. If una like, play every trick in the game, shift it every week till the months of March and April, we remain resolute and undaunted! Nigerians are voting you OUT!

    5. 08:53 point of correction, it was Jonathan that forced the postponement not Jega, even Jega wasn't happy with it. Do you think we have short memory like you? if it was INEC that did it on their then, we would have reacted. Jonathan cited a good reason for the postponement, which we all see reasons with. So your comment is wrong by saying INEC did same.

@She, God bless you. Why wait till people spend their hard earned money in transportation after making life difficult for them only to end up postponing the election. Isn't that wickedness.

    6. 09:34 yes he said that to me as a bragging right and power. You know how foolish your party people reason and talk that they often shoot themselves at the foot. I am not surprise at your comment above, your brain has already been exchanged for something more terrible and damaging. The only good thing about it now is that, it can still served as a specimen for brain tumour analysis.

  11. Actually.. This postponement of a thing is not peculiar to any government oo .In 2011 same happened. .as a matter of fact people were already at the polling stations when it was called off. .many thought it was rumors 😀This has been the trend now for 20 years. My own is that they are not wiser than God ..He directs the kingdom of the world.. Dan 4:17 and his choice will emerge as president no matter who it is and there will be peace in Jesus name..
