MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES
Post Partum Depression (PPD)

Postpartum Depression is a mood disorder associated with childbirth which can affect both sexes (NIMH). Studies have found that an estimated 4 to 10 percent of fathers also suffer from postpartum depression in the first year after birth.
PDD can be caused by both physical and emotional factors. After childbirth, the levels of hormones (estrogen and progesterone) in a woman’s body quickly drop. This leads to chemical changes in her brain that may trigger mood swings. Pregnancy and birth are intensely emotional events.

These milestones can bring joy, but they can also bring challenges that makes one feel sad, tired, and anxious. These feelings are normal, and they are called baby blues.

Symptoms of PDD are similar to that of baby blues which include: difficulty sleeping, appetite changes, excessive fatigue , decreased sexual drive, and frequent mood changes. However, these are also accompanied by other symptoms of major depression, which are not normal after childbirth, and may include depressed mood; loss of interest in pleasurable activities; feelings of worthlessness, hopelessness, and helplessness; suicide thoughts.

Any parent can develop postpartum depression but the following factors may increase the risk: poor support system, having history of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, or bipolar disorder.

History of severe premenstrual syndrome, history of fertility treatments or miscarriage, history of trauma or abuse, traumatic or disappointing birth experience, having children while very young, stresses, such as marital or financial, substance abuse, sleep deprivation, loneliness, raising a child with special needs.

PDD can be treated with medication and psychotherapy.

PPD is a form of mental illness?WOW!!!

COMMENT SECTION

My Mum will not let me enjoy my marriage, she has been in my house for over 2years now dat I gave birth.

She will not lift a finger to help in house chores. Yes she has rheumatism but she should at least help out and I dont have house help and also pregnant. I wonder the type of mother inlaw she will make. My husband is not too comfortable again with her presence but cant tell her to go. I wish I can tell her to give us space.

I didnt notice it when we were growing up,if we come back from school,we will do all the house chores and i didnt mind because I will be like let her rest since we are around. Her business even affected my grades in school cos sometimes I will skip lectures for 2 days just to help her out . I Don know if I am mean but I need a little space.

*If she came for Omuguwo why did you allow her stay so long? And where will she go to if you throw her out?Your mum has Rheumatism and you want her to help out?why not get a house help?or you ask her nicely to help you out?
Your hubby is no longer comfortable with your mum because he sees you are also not comfortable..If it was your mother in law staying with you,you think her son will want her doing house chores?or have you say you are no longer comfortable with his mum?Be wise and handle this in a smart way...

TEEJAYS CORNER

The Misconception About Tradition Within

The Confines Of Christianity...

Tradition is as old as nature itself and can't be wished away not even with the advent of Christianity. Today, some Christians are still in doubt and disbelief about tradition having a grip on them. These set of Christians, are usually the ones that portray themselves to be spiritually filled without recourse to constituted authorities and as such they believe tradition is demonic and ungodly and should be ignored.

Many years ago, a shocking story was told that happened in my community. A woman was married to a man for eight years without a child. A day came, the man died after a brief illness. Less than two years of his death, the wife already have another husband.

This woman defiled all advice given to her and went on with the wedding without informing the family of the late husband neither was her bride price returned to the deceased family.

Six month after the wedding, the new husband died one night on his sleep. Medically, there was nothing wrong with him. A year after he was buried, the wife follow suit. She was rushed to the hospital on her dying bed but doctors couldn't find anything wrong with her as well, and on the third day she died. What really happened to them???? The villagers have this to say, they were caught up by their own disobedience to the traditions of the land.

It will be of great importance to understand that tradition can't be taken away for Christianity, else there won't be anything like circumcision today. Do you know circumcision is a tradition? Jesus at eight days old undergo the traditional rite to be circumcised. Why didn't Christianity abolish that Jewish tradition but rightly embraced it?

If there is no significance connecting tradition and Christianity, why do Christianity uphold traditional marriages? Do you know traditional marriage has more of a value and recognition than the white wedding? A man was rejected by his would be in law when he presented to them minerals and malts as a traditional right. In my place it is called 'Igba n ukwu'. There should be kolanut and palm wine, even beers and hot drinks for it wasn't called 'Igba malt or mineral'.

The ideology of some Christians gave rise for the belief and notions that all about tradition is being associated with rituals, human sacrifice or some kind of fetish acts. The good traditions of the land should be adhered to and incorporated into our Christian faith so as to preserve our culture and identity as a people before we lost them all following westernization, just as our local traditional drums and instruments have become obsolete in our churches.

  2. This is a conversation between I and my Yoruba male neighbor.

Me: Pls I need u to clarify what am about to ask u.
Yesterday during our discussion concerning my Job 'A private firm' and Business 'Boutique owner', u said now that u know the kind of person I am, anybody that says "this girl na runs girl," u will defend me with the last drop of ur blood.
Dose that mean people have be telling u that I am a runs girl? or people discuss about me as runs girl in ur presence? Or you see me as a run girl? I need to understand that statement pls.

HIM: u completely misunderstood me. First of all, I don't see u as one. secondly, why I said such, I was referring to anyone who might mistakenly misinterpret u to be one.

ME: What does a runs girl look? Dose it mean any fair beautiful lady who live large and alone is a runs girl?
While the ugly black ladies are not runs girls? Is that how u tag ur own runs girl?

HIM: that is what is happening in the economy.

ME: if u see a lady who live alone as a runs girl, what do u call the one u camped in ur house?
Start by removing the runs girl u people camped in ur house, before talking about what is happening in the economy.

HIM: u r making a drastic mistake for saying all these to me this morning.

ME:Pls get lost. You talk too much for a man. Try and control ur mouth, else ur mouth will put u in trouble one of these days. If u don't have such stupid thought in ur dirty mind, u won't even open ur mouth to say such in the first place.
I really don't blame u, But ur primitive mentality and ur poor up bringing.

So single fair ladies can't be rich in peace without tagging her a runs girl in Nigeria? Poverty is truly a disease.

We don’t have a guarantee that we’ll be here tomorrow. Life is fragile. Time is too short to live bitter, offended, in self-pity. God knows what you didn’t get. He knows what wasn’t fair. 1. They were both claiming Christians and was encouraged by their pastor to neglect the customs of separation between her and the late husband. At death bed it was revealed that the late husband even appeared to her and warned her of her plans before the marriage with the new husband as reported by her younger sister but she sturbbonly ignored.

There are things people don't understand. Tradition is older than Christianity itself and a religion on its own. Do you know there are places in Rivers State and some part of Delta state that a married woman won't be buried in his husband's place but return to her father's house for burial even when she is married with kids? Burying this people in their husband's place goes against the tradition and in most cases cause serious trouble and harm to those involved. This has nothing to do with one being a Christian or not.

    2. why must she inform them? you are married and the man is dead so you expect her to slave for his family or be married off to another brother? you did not finish the gist...if your husband dies you should no longer be bound to that man. if you have kids you can let them know out of courtesy. all these demonic traditions that only enslave women. if it was a man who did same thing will they term it a sin? she should have gone for deliverance before remarrying. stupid people killed her sothey should be happy. its a pity that you so called christians will even be supporting such rubbish...a dead man appearing to you not to marry again is rubbish..deal with that spirit in prayers..some families still feed some of these demonic idols in the name of tradition that is why they suffer such rubbish. teejay it has absolutely everything to do with being a christian cos God cannot hold you in bondage to a dead person. that is demonic

  25. So my younger brother that stays with me starter disrespecting me unknowingly to me. I felt because I am his sister but he is very respectful to my husband. He wasn't like that when he came and he is 25yrs old while I am 32yrs, I use 7yrs senior him but I am very small in stature. He just talks to me anyhow, I have been looking at him one kind. So on Friday after I close from work, I called him to come help me carry the load I brought from market because the traffic will be much so I didn't take my car. This boy didn't bother to come until I got to our gate.
I don't know where the strength came from with the kind slap I gave to him. Note that he isn't working ooo, he hasn't gotten admission and he refuse to go to poly, I enrolled him in a lot of training.
Now my husband is siding him that why will I slap him, that I am like a mother to him and I shoudnt have slapped him that I should have asked him what I did to him to be disrespecting me. Na me dey buy data for this boy ooo, his phone, clothes, anything he wants whatsoever, I give him so that he won't be misbehaving.
Pls what should I do. I don't regret slapping him because if I call my parent to tell them, he is finished already and I don't want that.
    What should I do

    1. Keep talking. Keep disciplining him. That's how my 25 years old inlaw staying with me started disrespecting me.

    2. Madam give him an ultimatum. He cannot continue being a lazy entitled brat.

      Delete
    3. It's good you slapped him, You have set the boundaries, and please stop buying him cloths and data for now, let your husband that he respects do all that for him and lets see how long he will last. Even if your his senior by 1 yr, as long as his in your house, he has to respect you.

      Delete
    4. Give him another slap for disrespecting you..

      Fear not..
      Its normal to scold

    5. Started disrespecting me*

( I didn't put much to the disrespect at first). He replies me in a rude manner, raises his voice at me and challenge y authority in the house.y husband likes him a lot and buys him lot of things. He has been helpful with my kids but even the house chores, its more or less like begging him . I slapped him because I was frustrated and tired of his behaviour.

    6. I liked d way u slapped, what rubbish. Ask Ur husband,if d boy was his brother if he will take such. I trust my husband, all his brothers are scared of him. U can call, him later n apologize. But talk to him,as an elder and ask him questions. Then tell him never to try dat with u again. 7years no b beans o.

    7. He is disrespecting you because you are enabling his bad behaviour and emasculating him. If he does not work, he does not eat. Why buy him data and clothes and feed him untop making him useless for his future wife?? From now on be tough and stand your ground.

      Delete
    8. Just bear my sister, the one I put for house I senior am with 5years oo,I gave him the job he's doing now,I feed him, clothe him but very disrespectful if no be my brother I for done chase am since,I just dey look am with side eye praying so I get married and leave the house for him.Na so him dey cut phone for my ear,I carry who big pass me put for house, come back very late at night,I no dey answer am oo because na man him be( graduate oo but so irresponsible) I travelled so I told him to help me deliver goods worth 150k to a client,he didn't till the company closed for the year,I cry no be small. If not for blood,I have lost so many customers/money because of him since I introduce him to my line of business, abeg story for another day,I can't chase him, he knows but I will marry and pack out

      Delete
    9. He is 25, not in school and no skill?? He is just lazy and entitled.. Let him know you'll send him packing if he keeps disrespecting you.. I can't be housing, clothing and feeding you then you disrespect me! What rubbish!!

      Delete
    10. You shouldn't have slapped him. He's 25. Keep your hands to yourself. If you are not happy with his behavior, tell him to change or you will send him oyt. By the way, he helps you with your kids. That's a big help. Many don't have anyone they can trust with your their kids. Focus on that and don't put too much energy on whether or not he helps with chores

      Delete
    11. I don't trust anyone πŸ’―% with my Children o, Blood or not. That slap should reset his brain for sometime. Do not indulge him at all, do not let the data that you buy for him be regular and let him know that house chores is a must or he moves out. I detest rude people.

I recalled it was just yesterday a customer & I were singing praises of good Stella is, & today, others too have same thing to say.
Stella words alone cannot describe how grateful I am for everything you've done for me. When others are still struggling trying to raise capital to start up a business, you gave me the opportunity to start something with zero (0) capital, & look where I am today. Customers completely trust with with their monies cause they saw me through SDK (who is like my guarantor). For that trust alone, I've never had the thought of scamming anyone of their hard earned money & I never will in Jesus name. This is truly a family & I'm very happy & proud to be a part of it.

i started a 3 days zero carb diet the day before yesterday and i nearly died today in the banking hall chisos!!!

i left the house shaking like cassava leaves blown by the wind. in my mind i said i will conquer this keto fever not knowing the devil wanted to use me to set an example. i manage to get into the hall, filled the deposit slip and joined the very long line of people waiting. waited for 25 minutes before people started dancing in my eyes.

arrgh the images became blury and before i could say sdk boooooooooom i was on the ground with my eyes turning turning me, ooh iyammi.

na so bank scatter before i know what was happening someone came, raised my head and gave me water from a water bottle. turns out is the operational manager i have been doing shakara for (huncle is married with very large tribal marks lols) i wanted to faint again but the fainting was not coming.

if it was that fine tall handsome ibira banker i wouldnt have mind but hunkle? ooooooh iyammii.

they attended to me swiftly and oga OM ordered the driver to drive me home.

did i say i went to the bank pantless? tho i was wearing a body con dress of knee lenght. Now my fear is if the cameras captured my fall and if my bald ikpu was caught in action. the tot of that huncle seeing my ikpu keeps tormenting me.

i will never go to that bank again coz i know they will always gossip bout me. i will tranfer the funds to my Gtbank account and close that account.

my hands are still shaking as i type this.

God bless who ever invented fufu. may ur soul find rest in the bossom of the Lord.

Stop complaining about your mum to your hubby if you've been doing so as he won't do that if it were to be his mum. Get someone to come and clean and do some errands for you a few times a week but look after your mother, in her state, she can't help much. Also get medical help for her too.
