    1. Walk away during an argument, allow yourself to calm down, pay for a hotel or stay over at a friends, women Push some of us to do the unimaginable. Nobody knows what holds another’s life! Separate if u have to, allow things to cool off. Now the children will lose both parents for what now??? For an avoidable silly jealous or Anger. Too painful abeg.

    3. How many times will you walk away in an argument. Better you leave the marriage with your two legs or you will leave in a body bag.
The guy is a psycopath and an abuser. They dont change.

    4. @Anon 19:13 you shouldn't tell him foolish. If you want to correct someone do it in a polite manner. You need to control your anger too.

  2. Death penalties are retrogressive and unjustifiable, there is no evidence to suggest the death penalty deters crime more effectively than other punishment. Why couldn't they sentence him to life imprisonment.

    1. They wont kill him!
They'd stale the case, leaving him in prison till they exile him, forget this pronounced sentence, if you know you know. Same thing theyre doing with Rev king

    3. Well we dont have the luxury of such resources to waste on condemed cold blooded murderers. Even though the Nigerian govt hardly carries out such sentences. Rev. King still dey there, Arowolo still dey there after so many years of conviction. Death by hanging should be changed to lethal injection and the culprit's sentenceshould be carried out without so much delay.

By the way, its punishment not attempt to correct.

    1. How can that be the best news? Have you thought about the kids? How dey are feeling? Whose going to care for them? Will dey be alright or maltreated or even abused. Those kids lost their mom and now their dad, do you know the emotional trauma dey will undergo now

    3. So the father should live because of the kids? Makes no sense to me. He committed murder, he lost the kids at that point.

  6. What a pity,he used his hands to destroy his life, now his kids would become ophans and carry this stigma.

  11. If i had any new year resolution at all this year,it would be working on my self and character development...
Sometimes it is okay to take the L sign and walk away.
Never talk back at people..Put your emotions in check.
Hardwork and determination can get you places that character would destroy in the twinkle of an eye..
I pray God forgives him and gives the children grace to overcome this when they are grown...
    This is too much

  12. Oh, I don't know. I think this was too harsh.

    Wait, let me explain.

I think it was really a case of manslaughter and I'm not sure this is the penalty for it. Maybe a life time imprisonment would have been better.

But what do I know ?? Las las, maybe this will serve as a deterrent to all perpetrators of domestic violence

    1. This wasn't manslaughter. The force he used, to begin with, rules out manslaughter - especially as he wasn't acting in self defence. You must not necessarily intend the outcome for it to be murder - recklessness may suffice as mens rea. Then, he had been beating her before. His actions afterwards didn't help - huncle locked his children in with their mother's corpse, went into hiding, boasted that he can hide in Lagos forever and he won't be found cos he's a Lagos boy, then claimed his son must have killed Ronke. There was only one way this was bound to end...

    2. My dear I'm with you on this!
I'm indifferent about this sentence (to feel sad or happy)
I feel sorry for the kids!
Poor children, they will now be orphans!

    3. So it wasnt harsh when he left his wife battered in a pool of her own blood.

    4. So it wasn't harsh that he killed someone child but it's harsh that he is been given Same punishment he gave the woman. What is good for Peter is good for Paul.

    5. It could be reckless murder but only intentional pre-planned as in I came here to kill her killings should attract the penalty. This is not first degree murder. There's no evidence that he planned to kill her. It was a fight or beating gone wrong

  15. When you tell Nigerian women to exit a violent marriage, they will say a) they're staying for their children, and b) you're jealous and trying to scatter their marriage.

Ronke was begged to leave. Her own sister went to collect her, she double-crossed her sister and returned to the house from where she was posting perfect pictures on social media. See how she has orphaned her children, traumatised them (they were locked in with her corpse), and stigmatised them (they will be known as children of the man who was executed for killing their mother). All because she didn't love herself or her children enough to leave & live. Only God knows what will become of the children. After Titilayo Arowolo, this woman didn't learn. A BV is reading this & towing the same path, claiming to be staying for her children. Don't carry your children and flee; sit there.
