Mikel Obi Advises Young Footballers To Think Twice Before Going To Play In China

Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mikel has advised players under the age of 30 to think twice before considering an offer from Chinese clubs that they should not be tempted by the money.

Chinese teams are luring outstanding players from top European Leagues by offering them huge financial incentives, and Mikel cashed in when he ended his more than ten-year association with Chelsea in January 2017.

After only two years in China, Mikel mutually terminated his contract with Tianjin Teda in the winter transfer market, citing the need to be closer to his family as the reason for his decision, before penning a short-term deal with Middlesbrough.

”My advice to anyone thinking about going has a long think about it, you have to go at the right time,”

I certainly wouldn’t say to anyone under the age of 30 to go there, they will regret it if they do”.

"It’s worth doing for a couple of years if only to learn a different culture, to give yourself an experience that takes you out of your comfort zone, but do not be tempted by the money if you are young.

  1. Leaving football was one mistake I didn't like remembering. Only God knows the continent I would have been now and the kind of money one would have made.

    1. Absolutely.

He is being careful not to say too much probably cos of contracts signed. But let those who have ears listen.

China is the devil's den. I used to do business with China and each time I had to visit - it was hell on earth and always regretted I was there.

Chinese people are evil... wicked and hate black people too. So except you are ready to loose your dignity.... then go on.

I buy stuff from china though online. there is a huge difference when you pose as an American and as an African when transacting with them. they are all sweet and extra when you claim to be American but do the opposite when you tell them you're a Nigerian. sometimes i route my items through the USA to get a better quality product. their love for anything American is out of this world
