  3. True
Watched a documentary about this town.
The number of twin births outnumbers that of single birth.
The high rate of twin births are credited to the eating of YAM.

  8. Well with IVF now you can give birth to twins. You don't need to eat yam. Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey all gave birth to twins.

    1. No it has nothing to do with eating yams or a specially prepared soup as someone said below.

It's mostly genes. We are Yoruba from another state and it's like it is a crime to give birth to single child in our household.

My grandfather gave birth to triplets four times. Same with his siblings. My dad and his siblings also same thing happened. It's very common to the Yorubas generally.

Mind you IVF is extremely painful and expensive.

    2. So instead of eating 500 tuber of yam you'll rather go through the rigors of IVF and the cost...okurrr

  9. @Natasha IVF is expensive. the average Nigerian or even American will rather eat yam (which is natural) than go through the pains of IVF.

    1. Kudos @PrayingAfrican. Even Beyonce would rather yam than go through pain. it isn't always about money, IVF fails too.

      Baby dust to all.

    2. @praying Africa God bless you, IVF is expensive, is not everyone that can afford it

  13. I served in this town,it is believed that a type of soup called ILASA is responsible for the birth of twins there. Tho I totally do not agree because I believe its in their gene already. Anyway, I ate lot of ilasa and I am still waiting for my twins.I am certain they will come.
