Sunday In House Gists -The Power Of Names..

What is in a name?EVERYTHING!!!

Do you believe that you are your name?I am one of those people who believe that you are your name and your name is you.....some people as as evil as the names they bear......

Does your name challenge you?Mine does and its positive...
Some people just name their children after others or just because the name sounds nice without doing a back ground check.....
Imagine a family that has 'death' in their last name and every year they keep losing someone and are blaming their enemies!

My native name is a big challenge and sometimes i wonder why i was given...It simply means ''if you can do it i will do it better''..That is why when someone does something,i find myself always wanting to do it better, not in a negative way but challenged to be better.......

Are you your name?

I strongly believe there's power in any given name. So parents on this blog give beffiting names to children. How can someone be answering "Locomotor", "Actor", "Conservation"....hian!

  3. It beats me why someone will know that her name is "snake" (e.g. Linda) and still answer it. Or "wave"; e.g. Jenifer. and when you see their behavior, it is snake, as in agwo. They are swayed like the wave they bear.
Most people shorten their names to sound what they think is modern; e.g. Elizabeth will change to lizzy
    Philomina changes to Filly
Appolonia changes to Pills or Pilly

Even when the names mean somethings good.

Beautiful native names like Nkeiruka; what is ahead is better is trifled with and never answered. What a shame that we in Nigeria like everything foreign.

  7. My native name means “God has created me” while my first name means “pure”. I think my entire life revolves around these names. First I have had too many experiences for my age and I have suffered much but in everything I come out because God has created me for something and until I achieve it, no matter the trials, nothing can destroy me. Secondly I am a pure person in my thoughts and in my lifestyle. I am a spiritual person who loves the Bible. Somehow I believe my life is my name.

  15. Names are such important part of our identities, I feel like you would do your kids a disservice by giving them made up names or foreign names that you don't know their meanings.

Personally, I like biblical names and ethnic names with cultural ties. Some native names sound like cuss words and don't translate well but some parents don't think about the future of their kids when naming them such, all for family name.

Most importantly, do your kids a solid and raise them to be entrepreneurial then you can name them whatever the f you want.

  16. There is power in our names
And my name speaks and work for me in everything I do
That's why I have carefully choosen my kids name till they come.I believe our names can be a great part of a person

  17. Same here, my native name means blessings from God. Things don't work out for me easily but when it does it comes in a supper duper form. I remember writing jamb five times gave up the hope of going to the university because I was tired, then came an admission from one of the best universities in the world. Am in my final year and will be graduating soon. God blessings are beautifully dressed and are permanent.

    3. @15;46. In d book of Genesis, God created everything beautiful,so u r right about Linda meaning beauty, Snake has one of d best color combinations of all animals ,It’s 3 major characteristic are. Envy , it cldnt stand d beautiful relationship bw man and God , out of envy it went for Eve to destroy that relationship, anon is right, keep your relationship away from Lindas, they look for weak mind , manipulate and destroy there relationships . Greed snake had everything at its disposal but no, it had to add Gods best creature to his side. Jealousy, the snake cldnt stand d sight of Adam it set a bait for Eve and she feel. If this is your name or ur sister name tell them to change it.
