Labour Room Drama -256

This Drama started the minute she told the Doctor she wanted CS.............

Your post about Cs not been a curse prompted me to send my LRC. This is a lengthy read. You see, my own drama started way before I entered the delivery room. Childbirth scares the shit out of me.I mean, I literally pass out anytime I think of it. I wanted an elective cs, so I mentioned it to one of the doctors we usually see during our ante-natal ; I gave birth in one of the maternal and child centers in Lagos.

Immediately I told the doctor about my decision, his demeanor changed. He asked the reason and I told him just the fear of labour pains. Stella and my fellow bvs can you believe this man told me I am so wrong to think that. According to him, labour pains make a woman unless there is a 'genuine'reason why not. He started telling me how a woman told him she doesn't feel like a real woman bc she birthed her three kids through cs. This is a "tush" doctor in a govt.hospital, I mean they can't employ quacks na.

He proceeded to ask for my mum,s phone no, I was shocked like what has my mother got to do with this? I don't know you, neither are you a family friend so what the heck, I sha gave him my mom,s no bc we were like three patients in the consulting room so I wanted to avoid drama. Umunnem, this man called my mom and all hell was let loose.

My mom called my hubby and gave him 10 reasons why he shouldn't allow me 'kill' myself. My brother too was involved. I wanted to go and confront that doctor but I was scared.what if he is the one that will eventually perform the operation, he can decide to kill me lol.

Nevertheless, I paid for the operation with my man,s credit card to the dismay of everyone beside me. (You pay before hand if it is elective).

The d - day came and I entered the theatre with my hopes up. In less than five minutes I heard my son,s cry. All those talk of forgetting all the pains once you see your child na wash. Na then my own pain start o. The recovery process was something else. I have a low threshold for pain and that was my first time too.I also had post- part um eclampsia but my God has been faithful. My prince is five months and three weeks and it has been a rollercoaster ride.

Motherhood is not a child's play and I understand more now. Me wey like sleep pass anything lol. I also understand your obsession with your kids Stella, being a mother is something that is better felt than told. The feeling is out of this world.

I pray for all the moms-in- waiting, you too shall write your story one day.Sharon, olori , omeh and the rest, I use my prince as a point of contact to pray for you, this is your year in Jesus name-Amen..

Amen

  1. Lol. When people say you forget all the pain once you see your child doesn't mean you won't still feel pain. It just makes the pain easier to bear when you see your precious child alive and healthy. I mean, the thought that you have carried and brought forth a life is enough to give you joy.

  3. Congrats dear on your delivery. I also have a 4 months old so I can relate.

First of all I'd like to say that Childbirth is not an easy journey which ever way. 'Onwere uzo esi jee Onitsha di nso'.

Forgetting the pain after the cry of the baby is most likely to happen through a successful vaginal delivery.

There is nothing wrong with normal vaginal delivery, do not let fear take over you.

CS is a major surgery and shouldnt be something one should jump on without any reason, yes the doctor was right!

You have a right to decide what you want too!

I personally told my doctor I didn't want CS, except there's a reason for it. It wasn't because of the Hebrew women thingy just what I wanted.

    Let's not discourage upcoming mums.

The most important thing is to have a safe delivery any how it is done.

    1. The doctor was right? Did you read the stupid reason the doctor gave her? If he had told her it is safe and nothing to virginal birth or the recovery is easier and faster e for good naw but he said its the pain that makes her a woman and a woman who birthed 3x through CS told him she does not feel like a woman.

    2. It was your decision to have vaginal delivery and yet she isn't allowed to take a decision to birth through elective CS because you're who? Where's the discouragement in her words? Stella, this madam here is one of the people who victimise those who birth via CS. Imagine

    3. How is the doctor right for not respecting her wish?CS is a major surgery but vagina birth isn't a major risk?If that Dr was in a sane country,he will be sued. You choose to have a vagina delivery and she chose CS,respect peoples wishes and opinions and stop all this don't let fear take over you.And her reason for jumping into CS is because of fear and her threshold for pain is low.Is that not enough reason?Congratulations dear poster and AMEN to your prayers.

  6. Poster kudos to you for taking charge of your health and congratulations on the delivery of your Prince.
This is the same way my mum insults my life whenever I tell her I'm having an elective C.S., she acts like I just pronounced the death sentence on myself.
When it's time for me, I won't tell her whichever I decide, I'll just tell her to keep praying for me because I won't hear the end of it.

  9. When I had my baby through CS, my husband family were castigating me. But I will never forget what the Doctor told me, that children born through CS has a full functional and uninterrupted brain. My son brain now is fire. His best subject is mathematics. He is a science student that thread into disciplines I could not. I remember then my mate in d hospital born vaginally, they had to press the head into shape but not so in CS.

  10. Lol that i felt love immediately na wash...you feel empty and confuse. Alot of things on ur mind but love isn't one of it. But b4 3days u get obsessed with the child. You don't let even ur mum have him or her. I researched this when i didnt feel anything towards my child , i felt i was a terrible mum. Lol

  11. That doctor is highly unprofessional!
Is your mother his patient? What was it with the over familiarity? What happened to doctor patient confidentiality?
He must be very stupid to have said such! What is the meaning of "the pains of labour is part of what makes her a woman". Does he know what labour pain like? Such people cannot even deal with a headache. Irritant!
And the other idiot of a woman further butressed the point by saying because, she had all her children via CS, she felt less of a woman. Imagine such stupid and archaic mentality...
