Sheik Ibraheem El-Zakzaky Marks 68th Birthday In Jail As Embattled Shi’ites Demand For His Release

Members of Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) has warned the Nigerian Government not to push them to the wall in their demand for the release of their spiritual leader, Sheik Ibraheem El-Zakzaky.

The group disclosed this on Tuesday during a procession to mark the 68th birthday of El-Zakyzaky and 1,224 days of his detention in Abuja.

A leader of the sect from Sokoto, Sheikh Sidi Munnir, who spoke to journalists, threatened that the movement would change its style and move to another step if the government failed to release their leader.

When asked what will be the next line of action of the movement if the government continues to keep him in detention, he said: “I am sure we will not be doing this kind of procession to call for the release of our leader; we will move to another step.

“If they push us to the wall, that means if they hold on to our leader and refuse to release him, the style will change. We will not only be protesting to call for the release of our leader. The story will change.”

  1. If Nnandi Kanu could be granted bail and it was perfected, why then is the Federal government still keeping this man in detention even when court has granted him bail with compensation several times? What is delaying his case from been judged? I guess they want to keep him till 2023. It's okay.

    1. You have no idea who that man or his religious sect is . Ask anyone living in Kaduna to give you a clue otherwise you won’t see the benovelence of the government in keeping him safe .

    2. So what was the reason he was granted bail by the court in the first place?

    3. I grew up around this man. The best place for him to be is where he is right now. You people that don't know anything about the north or these religious fanatics, you just sit there and spew nonsense with your phone. Can you all just stop commenting rubbish and face that one with vitiligo on his face? He was locked up by his fellow northerners, leave them alone to do their job.
Tomorrow if he is unleashed and starts, you will say its Buhari since you have nowhere else to channel your lazy frustrations.

  2. He will be there for a long time. He's a menace and a threat to security of this country.

  3. This is how B.H started wo... We are sitting on a keg of gun powder. Nigerian Army, shei unna hear say they wan change tactic? We don't want another war situation woooo. We have enough problems already to contend with.
