  2. Depression seems to be selling more than sex right now so, everyone quickly hopping on the depression train. Be it as a past candidate, presently going through it, on moving through it. Either ways, you cash out...

    1. So how do they cash out on depression? Sigh, such ignorance. I must comment syndrome.

    2. @Mama Mia As much as it sounds insensitive due to the serious nature of depression, you have a point.

@Anon 15:23, you cash out via the attention you get. Social media is a lifeline for folks suffering from attention seeking disorder. It is a genuine problem in our society now. You just need to look closely at SM now see the length people go to attract attention. People even lie and shame themselves to get clicks, likes and RTs on SM.

Nigerians (and people resident here) treat depression like they treat malaria. You just have fever and you are already drinking anti-malaria. Fever could be a symptom for a million ailments. Only a blood test could lead to an accurate diagnosis of malaria. That you are feeling low and broke does not mean depression. You need to see a clinical psychologist or a psychiatrist who will evaluate your symptoms wholly before concluding. EVEN THEN,it is not cured by getting a new boyfriend or getting a new job. It is a sickness not a phase. As much as we need to be mentally aware, we need to not take it overboard and trivialize it.

If she was truly diagnosed as depressive, I hope she is receiving therapy and I wish her the very best in her treatment.

    3. Anon 15.23 cashing out is not always monetized. It could be in terms of attention on her, traffic on her page, sympathy, and a whole lot of other things.
People do things to cash out in different ways sweetie.
I hope I've been able to school you just a bit but in case you have learning defficiency, you can get back to me...

    5. In this case you mean cash in not cash out. Cash out means something entirely different and doesn’t apply here.

  10. Don't be surprised Toke comes out in few years to say she was depressed. Most people who seem to have the perfect life on social media are usually battling one thing or the other. They use the seemingly perfect life to cover up. I am a living example.

    1. Are you for real? She has already come out to say her marriage that seemed perfect was far from it, even wrote a whole book about it. And you want her to come out again as depressed? Well trust her if she does, she'll write another book and cash out even bigger. But I love her and hope she is even happier than we see. She shall live! She shall thrive! And she shall survive!

    2. yea yea she said that about her marriage because Stella burst her burbles. She was painting pictures of perfect marriage before Stella gave the world the exclusive of how her husband got another woman pregnant. If not that the story made it out she would have stayed with that cheat and still gave us false impression that her marriage was perfect and intact.

  11. Most of you think depression comes only as a result of some life problems. This ones are even transient, as in when the problem is resolved, the depression goes away.

Most cases that are recurring are as a result of some imbalances of hormones, neurotransmitters un the brain etc. These require treatment, medications to correct, replace those chemicals that are low or absent .

It's not known exactly what causes depression. As with many mental disorders, a variety of factors may be involved, such as:
***Pls read the excerpt below and be educated on this subject.

    Biological differences.
People with depression appear to have physical changes in their brains. The significance of these changes is still uncertain, but may eventually help pinpoint causes.
Brain chemistry. Neurotransmitters are naturally occurring brain chemicals that likely play a role in depression. Recent research indicates that changes in the function and effect of these neurotransmitters and how they interact with neurocircuits involved in maintaining mood stability may play a significant role in depression and its treatment.

    Hormones.
Changes in the body's balance of hormones may be involved in causing or triggering depression. Hormone changes can result with pregnancy and during the weeks or months after delivery (postpartum) and from thyroid problems, menopause or a number of other conditions.

    Inherited traits.

Depression is more common in people whose blood relatives also have this condition. Researchers are trying to find genes that may be involved in causing depression.
    (From the Mayo Clinic).
