Gov Ihedioha Denies Ordering Monuments Built By Former Gov Rochas To Be Brought Down

Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha has denied ordering the ongoing demolition of one of the Akachi towers, one of the monuments erected by his predecessor.

The demolition is coming barely 24 hours after Ihedioha assumed office.

The Akachi tower is one of the many tourist attractions built by the former governor Okorocha.

The demolition exercise was supervised by soldiers who barred journalists from covering the exercise.

His Special Adviser, Steve Osuji, said the governor is not aware of the demolition of any structure and never gave such directive.
He said
the new governor is in the Government House trying to settle down in his office.

*What is the purpose of the tower sef?

*Please anyone who lives in Owerri and has photos of the already demolished structure should send it in..

    1. Asin ee. That area has a large space they can develop and make it beautiful for tourist. People that visits owerri always go there to take pics. People will make money if that area is developed. Nigeria is just too backward with their thinking.

  4. During his Tenure, Okorocha seized a lot of lands. This included. The owner of this land got a court judgement to take back His land and enforced it after Okorocha has left the Government House. Ihedioha has no hand in it.

  7. From frying pan to hot fire.
Imo State who do una this .
The most useless of them all is in power.

Who demolishes edifice, just cus you are not in good terms with the former governor? Who does that?!

Go to many European countries or developed countries and you'll see monuments. Some were built to decorate the cities, some for historical purposes. Do you see them being destroyed, may be out of vengeance?

What Nigeria lacks in government is continuity, and they practice politics of wickedness, bitterness, anger and vengeance.

It's true Rochas was a bumkum during his stay in that office, but Emeka here, is proving to be worse.

How can a sitting governor not know what's happening in his state? You are just in for a day, just for a day ooh and this heinous crime happened, you came out now to claim you were not aware. I Smh at Ihedioha.

God bless Imo State & Nigeria.

  15. ihedioha doesn't have a hand in this, Rocha's took people's land and he gave some to uche nwosu and his children. some people were told by their lawyers to wait till when Rochas is out of office to reclaim their land back. the land where house of Freeda is belongs to an organisation, they took the matter to court and won, so now house of Freeda pays rent to the organization. Many people won and Rocha's refused to give them their land, the owners of the land decided to demolish and collect their land.

  17. From the office of Umunne Governor.

Let it be known to all and sundry that the newly sworn-in Imo state Governor, His Excellency, RT. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha CON, did not authorise the demolition of this structure.

What happened was that the family whose land were forcefully taken by the outgone Gov. Rochas Okorocha administration without due process had gone to court to challenge the unlawful acts of the despotic former governor and won back their family land from the tribunals.

Gov. Emeka Ihedioha whom his predecessor ran away from handing over to could not have had any document on any of the state government's projects or properties and hence could not have authorised the demolition in vacuum in less than 24hrs after being sworn in.

His Excellency Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha is a known meticulous public administrator who can not carry out government functions without having documents to back off his actions.

If the state government under Governor Ihedioha will carry out state functions, they will not be carried out by an unknown labourer with one excavator.

These are some of the many wasteful ventures that the former governor will be leaving for his successor: many debt from won court cases against the state government due to lack of due process in governance.

Please kindly disregard the cheap blackmails directed at the new government by mischief makers with poorly executed propaganda.

    Nwaogwugwu Nwanne Governor,
    Publicity Secretary,
    Umunne Governor.
