    3. TSS only happens when you leave tampons in for too long. Never leave tampons in for longer than 8 hours. The best is to use 4 a day, that is, you change it every 6 hours. If you have poor hygiene, please don't use tampons as it will only worsen the growth of your excess bacteria.

    3. TSS is terrible. I once read on dailymail UK about a lady that lost both legs and one arm to gangrene because she was in a coma for a long time from TSS. Tampons users please be very careful.

  4. Not everyone suffers from TSS when they use tampons. I dunno what she means by thread, that thing is tightly woven. I get bruises from pads so it's been tampons for me for a long time now and no issues whatsoever.

I'm looking at menstrual cups now, I hear it's the best and very convenient to use.

  5. Do they sell tampons in Nigeria?
It (tss) is a fast killer. The worst is that
many may not go to hospital when the fever starts.
They will be taking malaria medications till they collapse
    and die.

  9. I don't understand the whole hullabaloo about tampons. Get the quality sizeable ones from abroad, insert nicely and hygienically and thank me later. Extend the string to outside yourpant and lie it horizontally on your panty liner and matter ces't finis...avoid if you have tss...simples

    1. Off to order quality ones from abroad. All the ones here are made from kitchen towels. No quality tampons here at all.Anyway, what do you expect when we are still wearing burlap sacks around our waists?
      Thanks anon.

Maybe Stella ordered the tampon that gave her TSS from Nigeria🤔

    2. You get TSS when you have the tampon on for too long not because of the quality of the tampon.

    3. Kamikaze don't mind the shediot.

    4. Quality ones from Abroad you say? You need to educate yourself! Tampax( lite, Regular, Super and Super Plus sizes)amongst other brands is still by far the most popular and sold almost everywhere in Nigeria( at least I know of Lagos).

  10. I am using tampons and I'm not swapping them for any other thing. I read up wella on TSS and TSS from tampons is quite rare. The thread of mine has never ever gone inside in the over 4years I've been using it, so I really dunno what u people are talking about.

If u don't know how to fix the tampon, have someone educate u abeg

    3. No you're wrong. I react to pads as well. I feel itchy leaving something on the surface of my vagina. I don't even use panty liners... When I was younger and didn't know about tampons, I had to apply baby powder after bath before using pad to reduce chance of itching and yes I changed my pad more than 4 times a day... Sometimes within 2 hours of wearing the pad the itching would start. I tried different brands and trouble with all except lady care pad but the wings of lady care were not so good so I ended up getting stained most times... In conclusion, some women have genuine reactions to pads.

    1. Trust me, there's a reason why Google exists.

    2. Toxic shock syndrome is caused by a strain of bacteria called Staphylococcus aureus. It is an organism that causes other infections too. In some people, under certain conditions, such as tampons being left in too long or a predisposition to infection etc the bacteria releases toxins and causes TSS. I am a microbiologist and can go into more detail but that is the easiest explanation.

  13. I read some years back how a white ladys leg was cut off cos of tampons, apparently d tampon gave her one kind of sickness that made her so sick, she was in d hospital for long, it was too late, it affected her leg, d leg had to go.during interview, She said there's always awareness of other products eg condoms or contraceptives but no one tells d side effect of tampons, not even d media.
Stella since then I avoid tampons like a plague.

  15. I think tampon is people with very light flow. I don't understand how that tiny tampon can catch all the blood. Jumbo maxi pad for me all the way. My flow is ridiculously heavy.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Very funny. There are heavy flow tampons. Google Tampax tampons and educate yourself.

      Delete
    2. My point is ...miss educator!, I would need a really big tampon to catch my extremely heavy flow. I pretty much haemorrhage every month due to endometriosis!

Why would I want a HUGE tampon in my vagina when I can simply wear a pad!. Next time mind your business

  16. I only use tampon when am going to the beach and I must wear swimsuit though I don’t enter the water. That thing isn’t for me abeg, I don’t understand how people get comfortable using that.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Wow Stella you survived TSS? You be real iron lady.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Tampons are to be used according to your flow there are different types of tampons and organic tampons (google), tampons ought to be changed 2/ 3 times a day depending on your flow... tampons are the best things that ever happened to me... you can lie and sit down however, with tampons I cannot say same for sanitary pads.

  19. I have been using Tampons since 1996. No troubles whatsoever. When you leave it in there for too long, that's when you may suffer from Toxic shock.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Sometimes there are thick blood clot that just falls out on the pad. What happens in tampoons. Were do those clots go

  21. Many women will have to use tampons; professional dancers, athletes, models, actresses, personal trainers. Tampons should be changed often to avoid TSS. But every woman has a different lifestyle and career demands will mean there are women who will need to use tampons. I used them for ten years and never had any problems. I am in my 40s now and have never even had a yeast infection in my life. I always changed mine every four hours, sometimes I changed it there was nothing on it because I never was a heavy flow person. The thing with tampons is to change it often.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Even with pads, change often.
      If possible, every hour.
I will never understand why someone will leave a pad for hours on end.
Is it laziness or poor hygiene or what?
This is the reason some women stink to high heaven during their period.
