A 104-year-old World War ll veteran of the Nigerian Army, Adama Aduku, on Saturday urged the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Government to pay his pension.

Aduku was one of those conferred with the Chief of Army Staff World War II Veteran Award at the 2019 Army Day Celebration in Lagos.

While speaking to journalists at the event, he lamented that since he was discharged as a Private from the Nigerian Army in 1957 he was yet to receive his pension, NAN reports.

“I joined the Royal West African Frontier Force in 1942 in Markurdi, Benue State. Trained in Laguna and deployed to India during the World War II. I fought at Calacutta.

“I returned to Lagos in 1946 and was of the 4 Brigade Guard Group until I was discharged in that same year.

”I rejoined the Nigerian Army in 1950 in Zaria and was finally discharged in 1957 as a private soldier.

“I’m currently a farmer in Abejukolo in Omala Local Government Area in Kogi State.

“I have not being paid my pension since I was discharged and I’m appealing to the federal government to look into the matter so I can get my pension,” he said.

Aduku thanked the Nigerian Army for the award.

  1. So sad! I hope those in charge do the needful.

  2. Someone somewhere has been eating his money.

  3. Baad. Pension not paid for that long, and one oga at the top may be collecting the money on his behalf while great grandpapa is still farming at 104.
I believe his case will be resolved now. My prayer is that he shld live to collect the money and enjoy it.

  4. What a country!!!
He should be paid what he’s owed from 1957 till date.

    1. With interest too. What a wickedness.

  5. Bunch of thieves. The Man does not need no award. He NEEDS his pension. In fact, PMB, needs to look into this case ASAP. What happened to his money. Since 1957. Haba!! That’s too much. Our Leaders should try to have a conscience for once.

  6. Mr President please do the needful. Imagine farming at the age of 104. What about his children?

  7. So sad. No be today Nigeria spoil, it spoilt since 1957

  8. Another person dey chop the money for corner, ahh nobi naija again.

  9. Let us be real and truthful to each other. This is very heartbreaking. Nigeria is a nightmare and a failed state.

  10. they definitely will not pay him something owed before independence ...probably 8- 10 years worth he will get

  11. They won't pay this man again cuz he is old....cuz our country is full of deceit

  12. Nigeria need to be shot down, nothing is working, people are just existing in this country. If care is not taking this great grandpa have no good place to lay his head and human being with conscience will be somewhere eating where he has not planted. After they will come and be telling us how their wicked uncles and aunties were dealing with them. No sinner will go unpunished
