The Chairman, Senate ad hoc committee on Media and Public Affairs, Senator Adedayo Adeyeye, stated this while addressing reporters on Tuesday.
The Senate’s annual recess was initially billed to start on Thursday. Adeyeye disclosed that the “Senate would start the screening on Wednesday”. According to the lawmaker, since the exercise would be thorough, “the Senate would suspend its rules to sit beyond 2pm and conduct plenary on Mondays and Fridays until all the nominees have been successfully grilled”.

I hope we won't be seeing another disgrace from anyone just like the Chief Justice of Nigeria who was screened last week but didn't know what 'technicality' means in law. Rather he was busy driving aeroplane on a simple question asked by Senator Abaribe. Though, I wasn't surprised. The one who appointed him has no certificate.

DeleteLol... Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe isn't nice at all to have dug a grave in which the sharia chief judge fell into so shamefully. The trap really caught a big rat. I doubt the native doctor in law outfits will ever forgive Abaribe for such national disgrace. Now, you can imagine the people saddled with the responsibility of dispensing justice.

@Sluttychic, let me answer briefly.
DeleteSenator Abaribe asked the CJN a.k.a Nigeria native doctor during screening that on his watch as the CJN where will justice be situated based on the two cases he sighted to him.
First, it was the case of Akeredolu the governor of Ondo state and Abraham. The judgement in that case was based on merit that gave Akeredolu victory.
The second case was between Adeleke and Gov. Oyetola of Osun state. The verdict was given by technicality sighting that one of the panelist didn't sit for a day and so the judgement of the case that gave Adeleke victory was null and void. In that regard, the merit of the case wasn't look at but the supreme court ruled on the fact that one of the tribunal judges didn't sit on one of the hearing. So the victory of Adeleke at the tribunal was truncated.
Now, if you watch both judgment, one was based on merit and the other technicality. So Abaribe wants to know why it is so and where will current judgment be based on with Tanko as the new CJN. So sad Tanko didn't know what 'technicality' means rather he was beating around the bush saying he doesn't drive aeroplane and as such it requires technicality to drive aeroplane. In fact he went further to say, when such occasion arises, expert will be called upon to give witness. At that point I wept for Nigeria. What has expert got to do with technicality?
Less I forgot, the result of the CJN has surfaced online. He had just three credit and two pass in waec. He has F9 in Mathematics and English. This was the result he got admission with into Almadu Bello University. A man with F9 in English couldn't have known or understand what technicality really means.
