  1. The word “sabbath” means REST; God rested on the sabbath ---Gen. 2:2, Ex. 20:11
Jesus worked on the Sabbath --- Matthew 12:1-8,12, Mark 3:4
John 5:17 -My father worketh hitherto and I work
Jesus did not come to abolish the law/prophets but to fulfill it -Matthew 5:17

In the New Testament, Jesus promised to give SABBATH to all who come to him:
Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I WILL GIVE YOU REST 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

No matter how one is so observant of the days of the week as “sabbath -the day of rest” but is still living in sin, Jesus says, he is a servant/slave to sin – John 8:34. So in effect, the person is laboring for Sin. Only when the person comes to Christ is he/she free from sin and has rest -Sabbath.
And there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God…
Hebrews 4: 9So there is a special restf still waiting for the people of God. 10For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world.

So beloved, if you decide to observe any day, you do it to the Lord and no man should condemn you because of it… See this in Romans 14

  2. saturday is the real sabbath day but somehow the Romans changed it to sunday but because we are in grace era and no longer living according to the law, we can worship on any day of our choice that is why even Jesus christ told the pharisee that he is the Lord of the sabbath meaning he is now our sabbath (rest) meaning he is now our rest

  7. Saturday is Sabbath day! Because Jesus Christ rose from the dead on a Sunday, the church adopted Sunday as the day of rest to always mark what Jesus did for us

  8. Any day can be a Sabbath. It wasn't stated that the first day of creation was on a Monday or Sunday. God could have stated His work on a Wednesday, and rested on the 7th day. The early Church worshipped on Saturday. While they were converting pagans, they found out that when they go to church on Saturday, the pagans goes to worship their deities on Sunday. The Church decided to shift worship day to Sunday so as to bring/draw them to Christianity. Please any/every is our Sabbath's as the Lord of the Sabbath now dwell in us.John 21:21- 24 (NKJV)

The Sabbath is Seventh day which is Saturday and was observe throughout the old Testament Gen20 V 8) after the savior's crucifixion, the scripture recorded that Upon the first day of the Week which is Sunday HE resurrected (John 20V1-7) after this day the Disciples meet upon the first day of the week to break bread in rememberance of Jesus Christ as this was a commandment HE gave in (Matthew 26V24-30) In Romans 20 V 7 we are told that Upon the first day of the week when the discples gather to break bread Paul preach to them.

  11. Sabbath day is actually Saturday. Sometime in the early church history, this was moved to Sunday in order to coincide with festivals of pagan worship, so new converts can also have Sunday as a ‘special day’, same way it was in paganism. This also applies to some other special days in Christianity like the Christmas Day - it’s not likely that Jesus was born in December, it’s more likely to have been in October.
My view is that the actual days don’t matter, as I believe Christianity has moved beyond that. I believe what matters is the meditation on God’s word as often as possible and having a heart that’s constantly in worship.

  12. I'm surprised that many of us are not aware that this happens to part of the Jewish law which as Christians we are not required to follow just we are not required to be circumsised before we become Christian. Jesus established a new Sabbath when he Rose from the dead on Sunday and from the acts of Apostles Christians began to meet and worship on Sundays. Jews worship on Saturday while Christians worship on Sundays. Christ was the one who changed it and not the Catholic Church. He did so because He has God had the power to bind and loose. If you look at it this way, just baptism replaced circumcision yo become a Christian, Sunday which was called the day of the Lord replaced Saturday of the old law.
