Veteran Musician Daddy Showkey Shakes Ajegunle With Charity Walk And Launch Of Lion Clan Foundation

Galala Music Creator, Daddy Showkey showed his clout and the fact that he still has a huge following as hundreds turned out for the charity walk he hosted to mark his 49th birthday.

The day's ceremony began at exactly 7am when the respected award-winning artiste delivered a short address before flagging off the walk from the National Stadium.

Tagged: Walk With Daddy Showkey, the event which was to sensitize Nigerians on the importance of keeping fit and staying healthy was supported by Federal Road Safety Corps.

Daddy showkey whose story can be encapsulated as that of " From Ghetto To Glory" walked from the Stadium, Alaka, Iganmu, he was emotional along the way as he revealed that he used to live around the dumpsite, scavenging and selling scrap metal.

Every step of the way, passersby were cheering as cars stopped to catch a glimpse or quickly steal a photo opportunity. Of course, the ever humble Showkey kept waving back in appreciation.

The walk hit an all time high when it got to Malu Road in Ajegunle, all hell let loose. There was a din as hundreds hailed their local hero and joined the fun.

Showkey made a brief stop in front of the local government where he bowed, placing his forehead on the ground. He informed everyone that his grandmother had informed him that his placenta was buried on that very spot.

He then marched majestically to his mother, Mama floxy 's home. Mama showered him with prayers and wished everyone well.

It was after that motherly blessing that he walked to the popular Aunty Ego Bluewater Bar to formally launch the #LionClanFoundation.

He revealed that having been born and bred in Ajegunle popularly called the Ghetto City, he knows first hand the ravaging effect of poverty. "The foundation will focus on skill acquisition and empowerment while taking many youths from poverty to prosperity. We want to give them hope.

Some of his close friends who came to support him included:Editor, Ovation International, Michael Effiong, Mr John Enabudoso( organiser, Ajegunle to the world), Shola Omaghomi & Chuddy K

I spent 6 years there 😂 my Dad is of Nigerian Decent and he parachute my Arse off to Nigeria(Ajegunle to be precise) the first few months was somewhat tough as I couldn’t make much friends(always getting curfew from my Nana) but I’d often go to Saint Mary’s to play lawn tennis .
