ReplyDeletePlease I'm sorry if this would annoy anyone who is catholic. But, is there a biblical backing for Infant Baptism? Also please, what does it signify in your church?
ReplyDeleteAs a member of a pentecostal church and from my scriptural knowledge, I believe baptism should be a personal decision/conviction. It is a physical declaration of a spiritual conviction that you have surrendered to Jesus. I'd think such a decision should be done by someone who knows the meaning of what he or she is doing (same with taking the Holy communion).
Does it mean something else in the Catholic Church? Also, is there another baptism that adults can do and is it one of immersion?
Also, is there a biblical backing form baptism by sprinkling?
I'm asking all these just for understanding sake. Sorry?

No offence taken. Infant baptism is done based on the faith of the parents. we Catholics believe that we are all born with original sin(the sin of Adam and Eve) and unfortunately even the little child is stained by that. waiting for the child to grow before he or she is baptised is taking a risk in the event of death God forbid! so the baptism is done to cleanse the child of the original sin based on the faith of his already baptised and practising parents. The parents are tasked with explaining these things to the child as he grows and lead him in the way of the Lord.
DeleteYou people should leave catholics alone. There’s the sacrament of confirmation where the adult makes the personal decision to continue in the faith and is sort of baptised anew. Everything catholics do is based on the bible but it’s easier to follow biases and write long epistles. You’re so sure Protestants are the ones who know the bible most yet the bible was compiled, published, and revised by the Catholic Church
DeleteWhen Cornelius household was baptised, the bible recorded all the members of his family were baptised. This might help. Our baptism is once whether as an infant or adult.
DeleteIn addition to your believe, you can as well wait for the child to grow up before naming him, so he can understand the meaning of his name, and also don't put the child in school too, wait till he is of age to understand and choose for himself. 😏😏😏

ReplyDeleteAnonymous 12.04. Remember Jesus said...suffer the little children come unto me? Also during the early days of Christianity it was recorded that any who believed were baptised with their households which implied that children were baptised too.
