The recent attack happened at Mpumalamga Province and some areas of Witbank where the residents were attacking their Nigerian neighbours.
The attacks started when some indigenes commenced breaking into shops owned by Nigerians and other African countries, looting and burning them down. The South African police were said to have restored normalcy to the area but albeit a little too late because damage had already been done.
In the course of looting and stealing, five Nigerians got caught up in the attack and were injured.
There are also reports that the leadership of Nigerian citizens in South Africa (NICASA) and Nigeria's Consular general to South Africa, Godwin Adama are on their way to Witbank and Mpumalamga to mediate in on the recent crisis.
From This Day.
What are Nigerians still doing there if they are singled out for lynching?
