    17. The people at the Oscars have been seeing other Nigerian movies, but I think this is the only one they think that has international standard. Mind you what they look at are first; storyline, theme, the technical aspects like sound, lighting, background music, change of scenes etc. What ya'll look at in movies are the big bums, boobs, beautiful faces, fashion and the usual storyline of "mother inlaw chase away daughter inlaw" or "how a runs girl met a billionaire" etc. Have you seen the low technical qualities of Nigerian movies? Please cheer your country girl on! She has set the pace, all you need to do is up your game rather than hating, it won't stop anything, it's been nominated, it's been nominated. Congrats Genny, congrats Nigeria, we made it to Oscar for the first time wow!

    2. Absolutely good depiction of culture . But what do I know people are so shallow these days . They think long weaves and luxurious cars and make up is what makes a good movie . Fantastic story well told

      Delete
    3. You say girl child @anon 9.42, but Lionheart is about a grown woman and not a girl.

      Delete
    4. She ran her fathers business, trusted and loved by all. They didn’t pressure her to marry. Father didn’t die and uncle came to manipulate and take over. Igbo and Hausa didn’t fight and talk down on themselves.

Finally, most Oscar worthy movies aren’t the most popular. in fact most of them you can barely watch

  9. That movie isn't worth the hype.
But all the same, congrats to her.

You people should stop believing all this hype, just stick to the real nollywood that we all know.

    4. KIng of boys had bad audio, the production wasn't tight. Great movie though.

    5. Great movie indeed. It got emotional towards the end when they showed her past and her journey to being the don of the underworld. Even when that law enforcement officer started working on case and he realized it was more than meet the eye. I honestly love that movie. Kemp adetiba is trying biko

    6. @ anon 9:24b I bet you they sat down and analyzed the lion king movie and liked what they saw. What you are looking for in a movie is not what Oscar is looking for. They are looking for good story with quality production! Hype you KOB all you want, but don't spread your ignorance. Just pray Nigeria makes it, it will open doors and recognition for our actors in hollywood.

Someone with deep pockets must have Genevieve's back... Just imagine if the picture and production of King of Boys was as good as Lion heart.. it would have been a TKO!!..

    Just saying... Good morning y'all.

    1. My exact criticism. Lion heart may be boring but was error free. King of Boys may be fun to watch but was filled with errors, including production errors. It has no chance at the Oscars. Great idea but needed funding for a better execution.

    2. Top notch cinematography 👍🏽
      Oscar worthy cinematography

  14. Grace is called unmerited favor.. Genny has it.

  15. All I know is that Favor is not fair and never makes sense just like a little girl from a family that would have faced public shaming and hanging from extremists communities has now become a Billionaire ( Kylie Jenner)
In life just shoot your shot, not everybody has to like you, but the stars start aligning when you start. Just press the start button.
Whether you think it’s Oscar worthy or Nollywood recognition worthy, this babe is super focused and her publicist is on point and deserves some accolades!
Nwanyi oma, I’m inspired. Let nothing deter you! Keep going!!!!

  22. Well it was selected by the nigeria Oscar committee, I think Omotola is part of the committee

  23. They are both great movies but I believe Lion Heart will have a better chance on a global stage. Lion Heart was well executed, well edited, quality production, good sound, every scene counted, straight to point and overall fine finish.
King of Boys has a great story and good acting, but unnecessarily stretched. Came across as an overly ambitious attempt at filmmaking. Several irrelevant scenes that did not add to the plot or develop the characters. The believability of the story was low. [That fire scene was a joke. Really? A fire that burned that long after dousing of petrol would out-rightly kill them or at least knock them out. They should suffer like 3rd degree burns. But they could still walk and drive after the trauma. Naah, that wouldn't sell at the Oscars. The scene where Adesua's character was killed was another joke. For such a powerful thug group to not have a clean sniper for the job is unbelievable. How can they miss their target? Naah] And it was confusing if the lead character was a King of boys or King of thugs. Sometimes she was powerful. Other times she was as helpless as a commoner. Apart from that, the audio had issues. The overall finishing wasn't tight. I wish there was funding for such great ideas. Well done Kemi and Gene!

  24. People need to understand that movies nominated for Oscars are usually not the crowd pullers or the typical Nigerian film. LionHeart was a well made film, doesn't promote tribalism.

The person who mentioned Chief Daddy is crazy though. Of all the films to mention

    ReplyDelete
  25. And cinema owners didn't allow her to show her film in the cinemas. Awon Mo Abudu and associates, how far? Genny still made the money and now the recognition of being selected. Congrats to Genny!!! Happy for her

    ReplyDelete
  26. Genevieve unfortunately is not a good actress just like Omotola. Dem no sabi act. Na fine face dey sell them and the movie wasn't nice either. The movie was just like all those old nollywood movies.

  27. Her live is the embodiment of what evolution means. She has a huge international fan base many of whom are not Nigerian whatsoever. From Blood Sisters to Oscar nominee, What won't God do for us. Congratulations Genny! Congratulations Nigeria for this honour. A single woman getting shyt done. I will actually tune into the ceremony next year.

  28. Congrats Genny babe!!! you are indeed an icon. Thanks for the good work, I haven't watched the lion's heart but i know it will be an interesting movie.

  29. It is a fat lievthatcGenevieve and Omotola cannot act. These 2 actresses act in such a subtle manner and with their whole body. It is because they dont overshout that somebody will attempt to say they cant act. This lion heart is a good movie. Check out tgr message:
1 a female child saved her father's business without selling her soul or body
    2. Careers like show biz is actually good and can thrive. Not every child will be a doctor or lawyer and if they dont, they can still thrive if they put their all in whst they choose to do.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I just finished watching the movie and I enjoyed it. I loved that Genny kept natural hair right throughout the movie, and whomever styled her hair did a fantastic job. The storyline is good, and her skin was glowing. I actually liked the actress who played her assistant and Nkem has very good range as an actor, this was a drama and he held his own like the professional that he is. Nigeria actually looks pretty in the movie, and the music, fabrics, colours, food wowed. The movie is for all ages, though children may find it boring since the story is more geared towards a mature mind. There is absolutely nothing happening in the movie that parents should be concerned about, even a toddler could watch it.

    1. Good one! Don't mind these shallow minded ones who think that what makes a good movie is long weaves, plastic ass, fake boobs, shabby over dressings, horrible make up and fake accents. Genny was focused on what she wanted and made it that way. She was not looking for the crowd pulling movie, but Oscar worthy movie, boom! Congrats Ada anyi, we made it!

  31. It was NOT nominated.
Nigeria committee picked it for consideration.
