CBN Reduces Charges On All Bank Transactions

The Central Bank Of Nigeria (CBN) has announced a reduction in bank charges on ATM withdrawals, electronic transfers, card maintenance fees, which will take effect from the 1st of January 2020.

The new charges were contained in the Guide to Charges by Banks and other Financial Institutions by CBN on Sunday.

Electronic transfers below N5000 will attract a fee of N10, and N25 between N5000 to N50,000. The only time a N50 fee will be charged is when the electronic transfer exceeds N50, 000.

The N65 charge for cash withdrawals via other banks ATM after the third withdrawal within the same month has been slashed to N35 and the card maintenance fee on all cards linked to current accounts has been reduced to a maximum of N1 per mille on customer induced debit transactions to third parties and transfers or lodgements to customers' account in other banks on current accounts only.

  2. Good News. But they forgot to also reduce the fee for lodgements into the account. All the same, I'm excited. I will stop waking up to unnecessary
debit alerts. A***** Bank, your own has finished! Always debiting customers for everything .Now, if you don't work hard, you can't declare all those mind blowing profits.

  15. What of the 50 naira charge on POS? Started in abuja since October/November. Some restaurants, filling stations and supermarkets. How do we achieve a cashless society when you charge people to use the POS. Sanusi had the right idea by making all ATMs free but because of free money that banks and CBN wants to embezzle, they started the charges again.
