In fact Abians mostly and some part of Ebonyi are the most liberal part of Igbos when it comes to intra tribal marriage...I think it's mostly attributed to the boundary they share with some states. I have Uncles/Aunties who are from Akwa Ibom/Cross married to Abians and some other tribes in Nigeria.

DeleteNoble was just releaving the nostalgic village memories peculiar with everyone who somehow experienced village life at one time, most of us still cherish those moments, infact that's one of the reasons i hardly miss Christmas in the village, just taking a stroll down the pathways and streams melancholicly is enough village feelings for me, though my children makes fun of it, urban children don't understand it

DeleteMy Abiriba friends took me to their farm and stream when I visited. It was a beautiful.
You don't know Noble's background so you could write anything on this blog and call him an attention seeker.
I grew up in Aba with them and come from educated, enlightened, fashionable and well-travelled classy families.
That was back when these companies were thriving UTC Motors, SCOA, Leventis, G. B. Olivant, Lever Brothers, Nigeria Breweries,PZ Industries, Equitable Association, Bata, Royal Exchange, NIDB, Rufus Obi Pharmacy, Ndi Afia Stores and Restaurants, Crystal Palace Hotels, Enitona Hotels, Mr. Quick, Eze and Bros, Com's Boutique etc.
They were the ones that wore high-society French fashion and designer brands.
You need to travel down to Abiriba to see that "small London" is an appropriate name for their hometown.

ReplyDeleteI really wish I can have this experience. We don't have village. My family is from Abeokuta and my husband who is from Ondo has refused to take us home. None of his siblings want to go. They said there are no bathrooms and toilets there and it isn't condusive except you build your own house there. I just want to experience communal living. All those things we see in home videos. Swimming at the stream, going to the farm, eating local delicacies from earthen wears, etc. Igbos are so lucky.

I remember my big cousin taking us to Ubo stream to bath and then to the next fall mmiri igwe (very clean water fall)to fetch drinking water. Noble, i hope that water you are carrying if from mmiri igwe o. I thought, they dont drink Ubo water, it is used for washing.
