Nigerian Govt Rescues Woman Who Cried Out For Help After She Was Trafficked To Lebanon

A young Nigerian woman, Omolola Ajayi who was deceived and lured into modern day slavery in Lebanon has been rescued by the Nigerian ambassador to Lebanon after her video where she was crying out for help went viral and caught the attention of the government.

Omolola Ajayi who is from Osun State said she was made to believe she would tutor young children in English language in Lebanon, but on arrival, her boss seized her passport and told her she had been sold into slavery. She revealed that some of those who came with her to Lebanon had died as they were not given proper medical attention when sick but only got pain relief medications.

The boss also threatened to rape her and she used the opportunity of the boss' absence to cry out for help.

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) disclosed on Monday January 13,2020 that Ajayi has been rescued from the home of her captor and is now safely in Beirut with the Nigerian Ambassador to Lebanon.
